I was rockin Aramis when I was 16. Of course we didn't have that many choices in the 80's. I mean the selection of frangrances available today have increased a thousand fold. Wow! This guy is incredible. He have open up my eyes to many different brand of cologne that I never knew existed. Aye man have you smelled Arrogant by English Laundry? It will remind you of Jean Paul original scent but it has more of a fresh vibe to it

Darrien, I’ve worn Aramis for years and the green notes in it remind me of Amouage Beach Hut. I believe Aramis came out in 1966. It’s not for everyone, especially younger guys, but i still have a bottle of it.

Damn Bro! That Dunhill/Lafayette St comparison was eye-opening. I have both and would have never made that connection. Of course, I had to go and dig out my old bottle of Dunhill just to give it a side by side and just as you said they are similar. I have to say that I am shocked that way back then when I bought Dunhill, that I had that kind of palate for fragrances. 💯

Interesting. So far, I've only experienced three of the alternatives.... Bought the Bentley for Men Intense sample and love it (buying a bottle or a bigger sample soon). While I don't own Dunhill Desire Red for myself, growing up, this was the one cologne that got me compliments in high school, as my dad had it in the house. In fact, I got a few boob drowning hugs with this one. When I had his car a few years ago, I wore it to work and got a few compliments. Think I might have gotten more compliments from it than the Bentley. I also got a sample Declaration and while it is an acquired taste, I'll wear it when I don't care about compliments, but rather, want to smell it.

Good vid on alternative to very high-end frags. Another one that is in the wheelhouse of that Aramis and diaghilev vibe is Mancera Silver blue. I really like this one, not too readily available. It might be just me . It doesn't have the leather, but it must be the Oakmoss and amber that gives me a simular feeling of those two. Have a good night all.

Roja Dove Diaghilev is my shiii lol. I don't have a full bottle but I purchased the 7.5ml sample from Twisted Lilly for like $105. I wear Diaghilev on special occasions or when I want to assert my dominance 😂. I feel like that guy when I wear this, an absolute powerhouse. Than and Amber aoud. I own full bottles of: -enigma pour homme -vetiver pour homme -elysium pour homme -scandal pour homme -danger pour homme The next time I catch the 25% off site sale on Maxaroma, I'm a definitely treat myself to a 100ml bottle of Diaghilev. Just to educate you guys. Roja cannot even spell cyphre. He once said that Aramis is one of his best colognes. He got inspired and tried to do his own take. But you cannot even compare it to the legendary Aramis. It's one of the best men's colognes ever made (Top 5 all time).
