Just a tip, if you have the Fly Tampa scenery when approaching look for a chimney with smoke coming out of it, I used that as a reference point and always lead me to the runway.

Really nice video, Genc. I love all the VFR stuff. :) Landing at St Baths is great fun, I do enjoy it. Great job on this series too. It's a pretty damn nice set of videos, man. Really helpful.

the approach that has 135 degree turn is scary... flying low and slow.... WITH TERRAIN in the area... Ya better keep one eye on your airspeed and be mindful of a stall. Great video! I'm glad I came across your channel... I'm currently working on an instrument rating and you have some very informative vids.

@OlDirtyBond I just found out that it is my video card, so I'll probably get a whole new computer soon, I hope.

@patq911 I'm not sure, whoever decided to make these approaches officially into St.Barths did it this way. But it could be several things including that the area you're thinking of flying over is noise sensitive (you can't disturb rich people's sleep I hope you know that) or have other obstacles we can see in flight sim. But this is just speculation on my part, I really have no idea why they chose to make the approaches this way. I guess it made sense to whoever did it, LOL
@FSX40414 жыл бұрын
@OlDirtyBond I'm just waiting for my brother to get bored with his, so I can take that one, LOL, BTW the Kai Tak approach was done on his computer so I know it works great for the Flight Sim.

great job man... i think in real live fregate would be my favourite, due to the terrain. I think you have to expect a lot of turbulences with up an downdraft withhin the mountains. I'm looking forward to the next video. thx to you

Both of those approaches are easy approaches in a 182. If you want a real challenge, get a 737 into Paro. Route is Kanmantoo, some VOR enroute I can't remember, to PRO and follow plates from there for a south approach.

@CubesForAKid LOL, knowing all this is knowing what to do. Pilots are always expected to follow the rules. In IFR, the ATC will know immediately even if you are a couple of hundred feet off, they have to be strict because they have to maintain safety up there, it is their responsibility too, and having two planes collide and killing 200 people can devastating, even for the ATC In VFR, the pilots are expected to enforce the rules themselves (most of the time), they don't do that all the time
@FSX40414 жыл бұрын
@immortalisblog Yeah, this is hard to follow even with the addon scenery, until the flight simulator can put every actual object in the game then VFR flying will be hard to do. But yes this is VFR flying 101, you follow the marks on the ground, and use outside references 90% of the time. BTW those head motion "gadgets" that some simmers use are a big PLUS for VFR flying, I do recommend them with the proper scenery, wish I had one, LOL

RWY10 is still the trickiest airport I have ever tried to land on... I can't actually see the rwy (in the default scenery) until I reach the hill... It's pretty hard to line up with the rwy, without any instrument aid. But that's what VFR is all about, isn't it?

Why can't you just fly straight in? (from over the hills behind)

how did you get all those arrows in the video. What software did you use?

I believe this is the runway where that airplane took too long to land and overshot it and crashed into the sand.

Did you have idle on the descent after passing the hill?
@FSX4048 жыл бұрын
You not only have to have to have it on idle but the speed also has to be on the spot. That is a bigger drop than it looks. Surprised the heck out of me when I landed a plane here in real life
@TheGoatAttack8 жыл бұрын
+GVad The Pilot (FSX404) so what speed did you need? It was with a Cessna 172 I'm guessing, I currently flying with those right now for ATPL frozen got about 80 hours. Can't wait to try that approach one day!
@FSX4048 жыл бұрын
+TheGoatAttack it was in a Beechcraft 77 Skipper, I think it was 65 kts in that plane. I do have all three approaches and landings recorded and posted, just do a search for GVadThePilot St Barths

Well, this is new.... "So basically you fly over an island, then turn and aim for a big rock, then turn and aim for the edge of a peninsula, then aim for the middle of two hills, when you pass another hill begin a descent between two other hills, then just wing it when you turn on final. Make sure you don't hit the hills; you're supposed to be 50 feet above it but nobody really cares... O_o ... What happened to knowing what you're doing??? :P
