@The12rspc You mean heading of 158 for 2 minutes? This is IFR flying stuff 101 that a pilot learns during his/her flight training. You're expected to know all that stuff automatically. You should watch the procedure turns tutorial, it goes into much more detail about timing and how we time our flights.

These videos are great. Do you know what would make these videos even better? Choosing the appropriate livery or airline for the right airport.

@pav2k Two ways, pilots do it using the flight director which of course is automatic, but you can approximate it by knowing your speed, I give the speeds in the second (flight) video. You can use approximations just fine because you can't really be exact exact anyway since the winds are pushing you around. Just in case people miss the second video, usually the bank is around 20 degrees, but not always.

@SNSKreationz You have to go around the racetrack. Once there is a racetrack over the IAF, that means you must do that first procedure turn every time (including flying the racetrack during direct entry), but there are approaches out there that don't require you to do the PT if you are coming from certain areas. In those cases it will clearly state "No PT" from the area or point you are coming from. For Juliana there is no "No PT" text anywhere, so you have to fly the full PT every time.

@aviationmedias Believe it or not all non moving graphics are done in Photoshop, then I just use Premier Pro to edit everything including moving stuff around

HI, Man You said to fly off-set soon after intercepting the IF at TNCM (Tear-Drop), so if i can know that will it be applied to the entire portion of tear-drop entry area or only from where you had arrived?
@FSX404

You can do a tear drop entry if you are coming from any point in the Green (tear drop) area.

Genc.how does one achieve a smooth descent/glide slope, why am i saying is because when i turn off the auto pilot the plane pitches up and down uncontrollably and thus having a hard landing

@FSX404 I couldn't find anything in the book about how long to fly a leg. Is it possible if I could have a half standard rate turn cheat sheat's link?

Can you video on how to read approach plates? When you explain them step-by-step in this series they make enough sense, but when I find my hometown airport (KFAR)'s plates, I get lost. *embarrased face* Thanks!

Hi, I understand that we need to fly 1m45 sec from the VOR but if we're at 140 knots or 150 or 120 kts, we won't be flying the same distance. Wouldn't we increase the chance of overflying and miss the last turn inbound at 96°?

Most approaches, unless noted, are designed with 10 miles in mind. So its ok. You can do it in less if faster, its not a rule, but a good guideline

if you do a direct approach do u have to go around the racetrack? or can u just drop to 2600 and then to the approach turn

Hello. Wanted to ask you. If I come from Europe I will be probably in the area 1 direct. Does it mean that i dont have to the holding pattern? So I can go straight to PJM vor and then fly 308 from the PJM vor? Thanks

If a course reversal (procedure turn) is denoted on the approach plate (bold racetrack), then a pilot must do one unless coming from a feeder route, or if the pilot is being vectored. However, most of the time the planes will be vectored by ATC so a pilot might only get to do a procedure turn once in a long while.

My guess would be that most approaches into Juliana are visual approaches. Airline pilots probably get a kick out of flying visually, its one of the few times they get to handle the plane manually (if they choose to do so).

@CubesForAKid Actually there is a method to this madness, I've been going over how you read approach plates in this series. You start with the name, that is a big clue, then IAF or IAFs and on and on, it is the same principle for all of them it just takes time. Send me a message of which approach you are doing, and how you did it, I'll take a look at it and walk you thru it if you have any mistakes.

In real life, would you fly straight to the IAF or would you have to fly an STAR and ATC assigns you a runway and vectors you in?

@pav2k I was lucky, my stupid cheap joystick went out of calibration in the middle of the approach, maybe you can see the exact moment, it is a few seconds after overflying the VOR on a 308 heading (in the second video), after that I was fighting the plane the whole time, but I made it, just lucky, LOL Thanks
