I’d say the Ambrouse heel turn on Rollins was shocking. We all knew at some point it was going to happen but NO ONE thought it would be not only when they won the tag titles but when their best friend Roman announces he has been told he had leukaemia. Michael Cole shouting “NOT TONIGHT. NOT ON THIS NIGHT” was actually pretty good as well and Ambrouse and Rollins sold the angle expertly. It's an urban legend, and I don't know how much truth there is, but the reason Sgt Slaughter was turned heel and given the Iraqi sympathizer gimmick: it was a punishment. This was during the height of the GI Joe fad, when Sarge was the de facto face of the franchise, and therefore, gets a cut of any merch Hasbro (which owned GI Joe) sold. WWE had a merchandising deal with now-defunct LJN Toys, and many within and outside the business knows just how petty Vince McMahon can be with his talent cutting side deals without him in the know. The rest, as they say, is history.
