I’d say the Ambrouse heel turn on Rollins was shocking. We all knew at some point it was going to happen but NO ONE thought it would be not only when they won the tag titles but when their best friend Roman announces he has been told he had leukaemia. Michael Cole shouting “NOT TONIGHT. NOT ON THIS NIGHT” was actually pretty good as well and Ambrouse and Rollins sold the angle expertly. It’s a shame the feud was crap because the heel turn was perfect

Surprised Shawn turning on Jannetty was so low on the list. On a different note, I love the generational symmetry and karma with the KO / Y2J turn. Shawn throws Jannetty through glass in the 90's, Jericho throws Shawn through glass in the 00's, and Owens throws Jericho through glass in the 10's. Kevin needs to avoid windows, big TVs, and mirrors for the rest of his career.

It's an urban legend, and I don't know how much truth there is, but the reason Sgt Slaughter was turned heel and given the Iraqi sympathizer gimmick: it was a punishment. This was during the height of the GI Joe fad, when Sarge was the de facto face of the franchise, and therefore, gets a cut of any merch Hasbro (which owned GI Joe) sold. WWE had a merchandising deal with now-defunct LJN Toys, and many within and outside the business knows just how petty Vince McMahon can be with his talent cutting side deals without him in the know. The rest, as they say, is history.

Austin really should have waited until Summer 2001 to turn heel. He had to briefly turn back to babyface to "save" WWE from The Alliance. Austin turning heel to join the Alliance was brilliant but instead of the "I get no respect" routine he should have said he did it "To screw Vince McMahon just like Vince McMahon tried to screw Ol Stone Cold so many times"

HBK DID NOT throw Jannetty through the window. Watch the footage back again. Then watch it again. It was clearly obvious that he dove through the window to escape. I don't know how many times I have had to explain this over the years....

The best thing about the timing of Michaels heel turn was WWE was in Montreal in 2005. Arguably the greatest heel promo ever. Michaels owned that crowd and pushed them to damn near rioting.

Honestly evolution turning on Orton here's why. Yes it was obvious, But THAT in my opinion launched Orton into superstardom. Not him beating benoit clean. Triple H helped Randy more to get over in the long run then when he was with him

Awful list. Wonderful on Hogan was so hot it was the biggest house show run in wwf history after the turn. How can you forgot that. Andre was shocking as well but at least it wasn't violent. But not having Wonderful like at 3 shows how little you follow your history and having slaughter on the list was beyond stupid. Shit job.

steve austin was never a convincing good guy for me, so the 'surprising' heel turn was just putting him back where he belonged. plus i never warmed up to him & lost interest during the attitude era, which turned me off wrestling, anyway.

I honestly was shocked roman turned heel in 2020. After being booked as cena 2.0, didn't expect him to turn heel after he left because of life threatening diseases.

Hogan turning on WCW to form the NWO should have been on the list. That moment really shook the world of professional wrestling.

Wow. Good list. But how in the world do you not have the great Andre the Giant turning on Hogan not on here? Or Paul Mr Wonderful Orondorff turning on Hogan?
