I never understood why they didn't make the Scorpion King a real prop with The Rock fitted into it. I still think the Queen Alien from Aliens is the greatest achievement in the history of special effects and still holds up to this day. They could have made the Scorpion King like that.

Hey, you all wanted someone else doing them after Lucas "raped your childhood" with the prequels. I knew, even before they were made, that SW fans would hate the prequels, because they are impossible to please and feel liking any other SW film is somehow a betrayal of the so-called "flawless" original trilogy.

@gonzar09

Yeah, most of the writing in these films were lackluster at best, relying more on spectacle rather than engaging plots in order to move forward. Personally, I think "The Twist" device is completely overused anyway; I mean, XMO:W did 2 of them in one film (the fact that they didn't list that one here is a misstep).

Spectre was just inexcusable in how badly plotted it and the other Craig Bond movies in a poorly thought out connection. To top it off there are so many "smart" characters doing dumb things to progress the plot that it makes all of them frustrating.

_1980:_ *”No, I am your father”:* The world was paralyzed, even non Star Wars fans (of the original, of course) knew about the revelation, everyone ate even their dogs fingernails waiting for Return of the Jedi to know the truth about the Skywalkers, and a myth and one of the best films of all time was born. _2019:_ *”You are a Palpatine”* It was Friday. I think.

The glass onion pissed me off in a similar fashion when suddenly halfway through the film the big twist is not clever miss direction, but a complete omission of information. That’s not how mysteries work, Mr. Ryan! Agatha Christie certainly didn’t try that shit! The whole fun of a mystery is the revelation that the clues were all there from the beginning.
@christianboehlefeld5168
@christianboehlefeld5168 Жыл бұрын
Only in Fair Play Whodonits, Clueless Mysteries leave you in the dark until the reveal. Glass Onion was neither. The whole point of the film was that you had a group of people who were vapid and without substance, yet somehow came to be perceived as though they had depth. Part of the reason it was titled Glass Onion is because that is a Beatles song that was written to have no meaning or substance but might be mistaken for having both. The most genius part of the film is when they arive on the island and Ed Norton's character is playing Black Bird, a Beatles song that really does have meaning and substance, yet one of the characters identifies it with herself.

One problem with Bond...trend chasers. They saw Marvel and said we could do that too without actually working towards it with the 3 previous films. I'll argue to the end of time that Specter is hands down the worst bond film ever made. It ruins Silva a bit too from Skyfall, originally he was a burned 00 agent seeking revenge to now a pawn of new bad guy??

As long as that sweeeet cash keeps rolling in, Disney don't give a toss. Sad, but true. Anything now that carries the Disney logo, will just be a shoddy pastiche of something that was once wonderful. Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and I hear rumours that they want to remake Alien, as they are both creatively, and morally bankrupt. Nothing is sacred to them, as long as the cash keeps flowing. They won't be getting a penny of mine.

I have a litle bit of sympathy for Abrams because Johnson left him in such a bad place by the end of TLJ. I can accept Abrams bringing Palpatine back because you needed to give the heroes a worthy adversary, and with the death of Snoke, there just wasn't one left. But making Palpatine Rey's grandfather was an unforced error on Abrams' part. Nothing Johnson did forced Abrams to do something that dumb.

you could tell that "now you see me" was ending badly when their "3rd" magic show was just them jumping off a building and turning into fake money. At least the first 2 tricks showed you something interesting (robbing a bank and giving money to insurance victims) only for the reveal the next day to be that the money was stolen for real. However, the 3rd one happened in reverse, showing them stealing the money before the show and no real trick to distribute the money.

Thoughtful, tense, and don't-think-about-it wall to wall action. Second film, it's an entire airport taken over, hjis wife in one of the threatened planes. OK, I'm with ya! In the third, the entire of NYC is in a death grip! (um...y'OK, "ony two guys can...," I guess.) The stakes in the fourth became too elevated and, I'm sorry, but John *is* getting dog-gone OLDEFR, for cryin' loud! So I haven't even seen it - it's simply too much.

Just because people don't like something, it doesn't mean it is bad film making. I didn't have a problem with Palpatine being a Clone and here's why:- 1) The movies refer to cloning in earlier movies. Storm troopers in the earlier movies are all clones of Jango Fett, and there was a whole planet that did cloning. You think the fact the Emporer had ordered a Clone army would have extended to cloning himself as well. So it is not outside the rules the franchise had already established. 2) J J Abrams hands were tied. I am convinced that the Emporer was filling in for Snoke here. Abrams planned to use Snoke in a similar role, but Rian Johnson killed him in the second film,. So you either ressurect Snoke or the Emporer, and if bringing back a character decreases the stakes, it would happen either way. So they at least brought back an established character, rather than use a new one. I mean, hey, Star Wars fans only cared about nostalgia, and not embracing any new characters from the sequels. 3) It was good seeing Ian McDiarmid playing Palpatine again. 4) Star Wars fans who swear by the Extended Universe can't complain, because Palpatine was resurrected and a clone long before "The Rise Of Skywalker" did it. So Disney include something from the Extended Universe, and Star Wars fans complain about it.

But every 'subversion of expectations' in The Last Jedi was bad, and I think too much concentration is given these days on how crap Rise of Skywalker was when The Last Jedi put them in the place they had to start from with that film - a place that was probably unrecoverable whatever they did.

I didnt care about some of these. I still enjoy watching Now you see me, I find it quite entertaining as a whole. I like Spectre even though people didnt in general, I had forgotten about the stepbrother part so for me obviously it wasnt a big deal or anything that stuck 😅 Granted, this is coming from a guy that consider End Game to be one of the worse MCU movies 😂

I disagree with you on two Of these movies. I really liked now you see me And I enjoyed the Plot twist And I liked that ray was palpatine's granddaughter. The Thing I didn't like so much was she took the skywalker name at the end that made no sense to me But all in all good movie.

OK, why is KZbin allowing a game advert that is 100% rip-off of heroes of might and magic. Lol

Could have just stated "#1, Rise of Skywalker" and left it at that. Film is 90% 'ugh, f**k this' moments

So everyone hates Halloween Ends for a plot point, you hate it because you don’t understand said plot point? Interesting. Edit: her father was his son, not his clone, thus why she is the granddaughter.

Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom. Masie is a clone. It used the children are better than everyone else cliche. It didn't feel organic. It made her a plot device than a character. Just wrong. Children are not better than everyone else. They are curious, simple minded individuals. Who need attention and care. This idea needs to stop being in films and tv.

Where is Sixth Sense in this.. how Bruce Willis is a ghost not known from virtually the first minute is a mystery. Awful ending.
