The chainsaw in the first Evil Dead movie. It only shows up in one scene, and it's never used by Ash against any of the deadites. But that is probably due to the fact that a real chainsaw was used in the scene that featured it, plus the sequels would make up for its lack of usage

FYI...the chemrail from Elysium is a railgun meaning it has electrified metal rails that generate magnetic fields to move projectiles at extremely high velocity. So when they talked about a railgun shooting rails Its one of the bigger facepalm moments I've had in a long time.

Phantasm 2-5 Reggie's quad-barrel shotgun is one of my favorite weapons of any movie EVER. Comically underused (once per movie!) and amazing. Should be #0 on this list.

I have to disagree about the noisy cricket. That's a (literally) comically impractical weapon. Between the tiny size of the gun and the kickback, there's no way to know what you're going to hit when you fire it -- if anything.

In DOOM, the BFG is fired twice on screen & once off screen. It's an overpowered weapon that given they were on Mars for the most part, wouldn't make sense to go all ham with seeing as a hull breach would spell .. wait for it .. doooooooooom for the team.

Guess the replay feature on Zorg's piece is useful if you've merely wounded a foe you still need to kill. Alternatively, there'd be some comic potential if he killed a supporting character with one shot. Then he gets the jump on the rest of the party and opens fire. He forgets the feature's switched on, so all he achieves is shooting the heck out of a corpse! :-P

The Noisy Cricket was never used after J was allowed to access other weapons for an EXTREMELY logical and real world reason. J was a previous accomplished police officer with extensive firearms training and ANYONE with the slightest experience with them would choose accuracy and something that DOESN'T pack enough recoil to send you flying over direct damage.

It was never a question of the Winter Soldiers being used as a threat. So it wasn't ever wasted. Civil War was based on the dynamic of Cap vs Iron Man. This was emphasised by their deaths, so not wasted at all.

The Glaive in Krull? It's the true symbol of Colwin's duty as King, it's very powerful...and he uses it twice....once to kill a couple of Slayers in the Beast's castle, and once against the Beast itself, and it's not even what finally kills the Beast. He goes through this big important sequence to obtain the damn thing, and it hangs from his belt for nearly the whole movie.

Come to think of it; what's proper handling for the Noisy Cricket? If I underwent firearms training, I'd expect to learn a lot about stance and grip that I'd never have guessed. But how can one possibly train for that much recoil? Learn how to roll with the landings? Learn not to fire it unless something soft is behind you?

The moon is behind a Gas Giant planet. Jumping to hyperspace isnt as accurate as warp drive from star trek. The Death Star would have to jump outside the solar system recalculate the jump and jump back in. Most likely taking more time and energy than just going around the Gas Giant. Tarkin wasnt on a time limit. He didnt think the Rebels could do anything to stop him.
