I like officially designating names for these planets in honor of various human cultures. But let's be reasonable. A 30 letter, multi-multi-multi syllabic name is just plain silly. Is the intend to label these discoveries so that only a handful of people can pronounce them?

In the world of naming Sailor Scouts, whether something is a planet or a dwarf planet doesn't matter. There is a minor planet called Chaos in existence. I for one am not complaining about a possibility of a Sailor Chaos out there.

Right now, there are nine confirmed dwarf planets: Ceres, Orcus, Pluto, Haumea, Quaoar, Makemake, Gonggong, Eris, and Sedna. In my opinion, Hygiea, Salacia, 2002 MS4, 2013 FY27, Interamnia, Varuna, Varda, Ixion, 2014 UZ224, Chaos, Huya, Leleakuhonua, 2012 VP113, and Arrokoth might be the best candidates.

5:13 thats not true, the earth and the moon are 2 planets with similar rotations around each other too, technically our moon is actually a planet and not actually a moon, as it happens the earth and moon are actually 2 planets that rotate around each other
@Jellyman1129 Жыл бұрын
You’re half right. The moon (Luna) is a planet indeed! But it’s also a moon since it orbits Earth. The barycenter is inside the Earth, so Luna orbits it. It’s a planet and its moon. Meanwhile, the barycenter for Pluto and Charon is completely outside Pluto and lies between both bodies. So Charon orbits Pluto AND Pluto orbits Charon, making it a double planet system. It all depends on where the barycenter is. But yes, you are right about Luna being a planet. It’s a planet and a moon simultaneously.
@johnnymason2460 Жыл бұрын
@@Jellyman1129That's absolutely ludicrous. The Moon is a moon. Period! No book or database says otherwise. Until the experts say otherwise, the Moon is Earth's moon and Charon is Pluto's moon. Period!!!
@Jellyman1129 Жыл бұрын
@@johnnymason2460 Yes, the Moon and Charon are both moons. But “moon” just means “natural satellite”. It describes the location of the object, not the object itself. Phobos and Deimos are satellites of Mars, but you can tell they’re asteroids just by looking at them. Titan is a satellite of Saturn and has the physical properties to be a planet. And the experts ARE saying this. The experts have BEEN saying this since the IAU made their mistake in 2006: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pHrXc6GZl52CiK8 Even amateur astronomers have taken notice: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bl6VeauonNaIpK8

@texasforever78872 жыл бұрын
Probably because they do not have a mass large enough to generate a magnetic field which is a characteristic of a planet. Mercury barely qualifies for this with it producing an extremely weak but measurable field.
@ItsMeAttilaGameplay20182 жыл бұрын
not big enough i think. the smallest on the list is the Goblin it can't be a dwarf planet with 200km diameter so jump to the 2nd: 2002 MS4 it's ~800km. The largest centaur is Chariklo 302km. So i don't think we will have dwarf planets the size of 300km. Then they could add also Varda, Ixion, Varuna, Chaos, Hayu and the unnamed ones. So we would have around 30 dwarf planets and it's a little too much with this knowledge of them. The current minimum is around 800km i guess but that's not good either i think 500km should be the minimum and we would have around 20 dwarf planets a little better.
@erickmendoza3669 Жыл бұрын
@@ItsMeAttilaGameplay2018 68 Dwarf Planets there would be if the minimum was about 500km Diameter I think we are fine with minimum 800km diameter.
