My aunt has what you in the UK would call a learning disability. In Sweden we say intellectual disability. Her expressive language is actually higher than her receptive, but even if her receptive language is pretty low, she definitely understands her environment. She picks up on people’s vibes really well. Speech has little to do with intelligence.

We are going to an emotional pad with our son. He isn’t diagnosed, but we see some signs of ASD. I’m very emotional these says. I cry everyday. Not because he might be different (he is perfect in the way he is), but communication with him is hard sometimes (he is almost 2,5). This video and articles gives me hope! Thank you so much for all of this! Sending my love.

Growing up in a small town in Montana I had limited exposure and knowledge about autism. When my son was diagnosed 2 years ago I thought he'd never communicate, never make eye contact, never hug me or tell me he loves me. He is 4 now and I got my own diagnosis of autism this month. I couldn't have been more wrong about him and autism. He is finding his own way to communicate, makes eye contact, and is incredibly affectionate and although he can't verbally say he loves me I know he does! I was wrong about autism being a death sentence. Thanks for another heartfelt video!

Does it means ,an autistic person live a normal life? Please do reply i am concerned about my son too.
@whitneymason4063 жыл бұрын
@@Its_Ambira Absolutely!! They may need some additional help along the way or they may hit their milestones at a later date, but everyone has their challenges in life. It's what we choose to do and feel about it that matters! My son still goes to school, plays with his sister, and has activities he enjoys just like other children. He's still nonverbal, but he is now making a lot more sounds and is using sign language to communicate. How old is your son?

6:58 YES. When I went through the official diagnosis process, no one asked me why I could speak. We don't all have the same traits. 💖

really love this video!! talked about it with my husband as I watched and realized that a lot of people think a lot of these things about our own 3-year old (pre-diagnosis) autistic son. really appreciative of the information you put out there and the way you deliver your message.

This is a fantastic video Faye, thanks so much for posting. My 3 year old daughter displays Echolalia but does not use words in the right context. We are working on this and there are challenges. This really does highlight some thoughts and ways in which we can improve her communication. Loving this channel ❤️

Thank you for this video. We are currently seeing which best way to communcate with my son he non verbal. We know his sounds and know what he want by sounds these sounds mean. Having gone through speech delay and speech impairment and when I could talk the fear of people not understanding me i chose not to speak to people i didn't know. I'm my nursery report it said i was aloof. I like to hang out with adults and not socialise with my peers. Looking at today assessments maybe I would be put maybe as a autistic but as i grew i did learn social skills however it made me person I am today. I think early years foundation is silly I mean my daughter does things at home she don't at pre school and same with my son who autistic his twin sister isn't as we know but even if she is so what. Having communication difficulties as child may me very aware of how my son can communcate and if you not been though it very hard. I remember trying to tell my parents what I did. I ended up pointing at stuff and to act things out. My son don't point he 3.5 years old but he will let you know how he feeling and what he wants. Let look at what are children can do. I disagree with professionals a lot of time and i know they doing their job but i have work in education and healthcare to know the terms and I know as parenta we need to fight and for some of us we need to do it more often. I am always saying to my son use your words . I got told off for saying that as teacher said he can't talk. It is a wonder i kept my cool but by words I meant his sounds as we had mnmmmmorrree for more in context. I will be doing a update on my son this week so check it out . As a life coach I think in very positive way and we know he will do amazing well in his life he make us laugh as he so cheeky and he come on so much. Thank you for doing this video i will give you a shout out and pin your channel to mine in next Matthew update and this video on cards as it awesome .

Dear Faye I live in the UK and I am a mother to 2 autistic kids: daughter and a boy of your son Karim's age. I.left my career ...I am a Dr. ....and I am.looking after my kids on a full time basis. I started ABA last year and it helped a bit but I recently came across RDI which seemed a much better alternative to ABA. i would be very grateful if you.could please agree to arrange a time to.call.you and talk about it. Let me know please. Thanks.
