CORRECTION: I do not like SATIN POLYESTER. I should've said I prefer SATIN SILK! I did not know but my viewers informed me about my mistake in the comments!
Life is tough when your new to being natural. I wish I knew about these mistakes in the beginning of my natural hair journey.

If I learned something on KZbin is to take everything with a grain of salt. Cuz KZbinrs are all about what's trendy and in at the moment. First was coconut oil (even tho it has been around for years and years), then it's shea butter, then it finger detangling... Listen.. The BEST way to keep your hair healthy and growing is to leave it alone.. Period! I mean, look at men for example.. they don't apply a hair mask every week or seal in the moisture every day. They don't do nothing other than leave their hair alone and wash it every so often and that's it. No manipulation, no heat, no perm rods, no nothing.. Just wash hair, apply moisture, don't apply heat, put on some oil if you want to.. and that's it! Leave it alone until next time. Boom.. GROWTH!

This is exactly what I do to my hair. wash it with shampoo condition it, put in some oil and hair cream. Put it in a protective style and add in some oil if needed on other days and continue the cycle if my hair is getting dirty. Following all these threads on KZbin is not for everyone it's what works for them and what seems popular and doesn't nessicerily mean it will work for you and keep in mind thier hair is different from yours and grows differently. The best thing to do is find what works for your hair and start by giving it a break.

Yes. Just leave your hair alone. After I wash and moisturize my hair, I do 4 feed in braids/flat twist and a low bun. I leave them in for a week and my hair stays moist and left alone. This is great for the colder months also.

Combs that have teeth without a raised edge. The raised edge in regular combs come from molding. The raised edge causes mechanical damage to hair strands overtime due to friction.

Glo Ria i have high porosity and i use a mix of shea butter and hair grease it leaves my hair healthy moisturized defined and almost with no shrinkage. My high porosity hair can't stand light moisturizers or oils it just soaks it up or just sit on my hair without doing anything.. My sister has low porosity and she only needs light moisturizers oils and maybe a little gel for a slick look. Find out your hair porosity girl!

I think you are mixing up silk for satin. And satin is cheaper and why people promote it most. I have a silk Balenciaga scarf and it feels exactly how you are describing satin. My satin scarfs and pillowcase just glides over my hair and causes no damage.
@Chazzzisawesome
@Chazzzisawesome 7 жыл бұрын
+ReviewQueenRBD mhmmnn it's interesting that your experiencing that because silk is more expensive because it's 100% natural and silk comes from an actual silkworm that can be found in Asia. Satin is in fact cheaper because it doesn't come from a silkworm, it comes from a bunch of rough polyester blends. Now one side of satin does feel like silk but the other side is very rough and that's where the cheapness comes in. Now your satin might glide over your hair because your using your soft side or your satin may be made with a small percentage of silk. It doesn't bother some people but I rather have 100% silk. You can find silk at goodwill or Walmart so it's not really expensive. It really is weird that your experiencing that, google silk vs. satin. Or google, "what is satin made of?"
@RushellKB
@RushellKB 7 жыл бұрын
Chazzzisawesome I know the differences and what they are made of. Like I siad I have then both in my house. I honestly have like 3 100% silk scarfs and several satin and prefer my satin. I even have a satin pillowcase and prefer that as well. My silk ones get caught on my hair but my satin ones glide over my hair. It upsets me because I paid ALOT of money for those silk scarfs. I only use them to accessorize. Silk being made of a silk worm and satin being made of cheap polyester blends doesn't change the fact that MY satin scarfs are better. And not sure what kind of satin scarfs you have but mine are satin on both sides. Thanks for respondinf

I think we are all equally fascinated with each others hair and can't resist touching it. I actually don't mind people touching my hair cause I know the feeling. I remember the first time I saw Asian hair and Native American hair.....I was like dayum....looks like freaking water or silk.....how is this possible!!!! All my senses went out the door and my hand went straight for the hair without asking to touch. I thank God they weren't rude or mean and cussed me out and this is why I'm open to letting people touch my hair. Hair is one of the most peculiar and satisfying wonders of the world, no matter the texture.

Your comment on satin is very wrong. Satin is how the fabric is woven; smooth...several yarns float. One side of satin fabric is very smooth while he other side is rough. Silk is a type of fiber. You can have satin fabric that is made of silk. It can also be made of polyester.
@Chazzzisawesome
@Chazzzisawesome 7 жыл бұрын
+Regina Clarke Is satin softer than silk? Googles answer: Satin “silk” from polyester (a man-made fabric) is very slippery and yet will catch your skin if your hands are very rough and callused. However, 100% pure silk sheets will not catch your skin the way polyester "silk" does. It is softer in texture and very smooth to the touch. I just prefer silk. As high a percentage of silk I can get. I do not like a satin and polyester blend.
@Regina.Clarke
@Regina.Clarke 7 жыл бұрын
My breakdown comes from studying textile science. Fibers are: cotton, wool, silk, rayon, polyester, etc. Fabrics are: satin, crepe, broadcloth, muslin, etc. Polyester can be made to mimic silk fibers. Misinformation is happening here.

Thank you!!! Finally someone tells the truth. I could be considered a product junkie only because I have a family all with different hair types and porosity, My house literally goes from 2A to 4C so I have all the different products only for all the different hair types in my family or we would be looking jacked up! As for the finger detangling, ain't nobody got time for that! Short ugly hair styles, guilty! Everything you said I can relate to. I have seen far too many people recommending product for curlies that do not understand that all people are different. Loved this so much and love the honesty.

The problem I have with silk is that it isn't breathable. I sweat in my sleep 😩 I wonder if the trade-off will be worth being uncomfortable every night. Also finger detangling sucks for me, so does the Denman brush. The Felicia Leatherwood brush is my holy grail or I will use a seamless shower comb.

I'm (I think) 3c hair type, but I watch more type 4 hair videos than anything else- it's versatile and pretty. With that said, I think porosity and density is more important information than what your curl pattern is. Much like yourself, I bought a LOT of products that didn't agree with my hair when I first returned to my natural hair. I realized early on that not all 3c hair is created equal and what works for someone else's head isn't going to work for me just because we have the same curl pattern. It's better to acquire helpful information from other naturals with similar porosity and density as you than curl pattern. Best thing I ever did.

I was looking at girls with 3b and 3c hair (mind you I'm 4c) thinking okay if I buy what they use I'll have the same results didn't happen!!!! Also at the time I didn't know I was 4c because my length wasn't there but yeah...now I follow girls with my hair texture.

Omg yes the #9. I used to get my hair done by a lady who was natural and used all natural products (oils,honey all that good stuff. However,she wore hers flatironed. So when she did my hair i knew there was a red flag 2 to be honest. 1.The way she detangled my hair. She was sooo rough. Like my scalp hurt after the appt. 2 she didn't use leave-in conditioner. Maybe that's her personal preference as a stylist,but I've always used some leave-in even when i was little. Oh i have 3rd one too.She did NOT use heat protectant when flat ironing mine n my mom's hair. The front of my hair is just starting to get some curl definition to it. The back of my hair honestly curls up fine. But yes do your research and be vocal to your stylist when it comes to your hair. At the end of the day you the one who is wearing out on a regular basis. Just wanted to share that story.

Yeah finder detangling is more for fine hair. I have fine hair so it's better for me, using a comb causes mohair to break, but my friend has think hair and can't get through wash day without a wide-tooth comb
