These amazing creatures have no concept of water and no water. To them, the sea is like our atmosphere.

Or.. they would say "whoa, look at those crazy space creatures! They descend here from outer space, observe and/or abduct us, and just leave! Outer space is like their ocean!" Or something like that...

🇬🇧 As a long time subscriber to your channel, i just love your videos & the marvellous photography! The sea creatures are endlessly facinating & mesmerizing. I remember once reading, many years ago a story from a Native American Chief ( sorry but i cant remember the tribe, only this story that ive never forgotten) It goes... " All of life on this planet has a purpose & a reason for its existance, it knows innately why it exists here. There is only one species that has either forgotten or cast aside its reason & purpose because it sees itself above everything else, in its arrogance & pride it has lost its purpose & meaning for what life is. That species is Humankind." Sobering thought. Peace & Good Cheer to All 🇬🇧👧

The white sea cukes were a work of art. All the different forms of life on the rock were fascinating. I kept getting distracted by the little hermit crab off to the left and the grenadier photobombing everyone. Were the first two octopi at the end guarding eggs? And I am not sure I will be able to eat crab legs again. The living crab is beautiful.

How is the water so clear?
@dianacryer
@dianacryer 10 ай бұрын
Part of the reason might be how cold the water is. Kind of like stargazing, the sky appears to be more clear in the winter time. And not a lot of traffic to stir up the sediment.
@YetiUprising
@YetiUprising 10 ай бұрын
Waves also move sediments around constantly. Bottom of the ocean is too far to be affected by that unlike shallower ponds, rivers, etc.
@Hmrogers97
@Hmrogers97 10 ай бұрын
@@dianacryer I agree and also the ROVs themselves seem to have been improved to not stir up as much sediment, especially in the past few years. Their camera quality has gotten so much better too so they can zoom in from farther away without disturbing the environment as much, it's pretty incredible how far ROVs have come!
@gaymer42069

Cold water with very little water currents. There’s just not much down there to stir the sediment

Great! I love these New Cool Marine Creatures from the arctic waters off of Alaska! Filmed so recently in September 2023, a reminder of how now we could properly study and map even the cold arctic waters with our new ROV (remotely operated vehicle) tech that has indeed revolutionised human history! I liked all of these especially the basket star, grenadier, polychaete worm, decorated crab and of course the Deepsea octopod Graneledone boreopacifica Which Takes 5 YEARS to take care of their babies! 🐙🦀🐟 by the way I also found the bonus KING CRAB cool with his Lil Amphipods taking a ride at 54:36 - 55:15! 💚🦀 and you are right at 54:43 about King crabs: of course they would be found in the arctic waters of Alaska as they have the ability to adapt to any kind of environment even cold arctic waters! And also one of Alaska’s biggest fisheries

I love how curious the grenadiers all seem. It must feel like getting a visit from extraterrestrials to see a rover hanging out in your home turf where all you usually see is shrimps and sea pens. Edit: the scene of the mother octopus guarding her eggs is so poignant, especially with the music you added. She's holding on with all she has. I wonder if she's in pain, or if she knows what's happening.

Otto the Octopus: "Dude, you'll never believe this but I was just talking to the guys on the community rock and this freaking bizarre ufo thing flew in out of nowhere and starts just like watching me, like just staring right at me, man! I thought for sure I was as good as calamari! So I just stayed as still as I possibly could and pretended to be asleep until it finally just flew off!! It was no cap the craziest thing I've ever seen!!" Orville the Octopus: "🙄 Riiiight... Look, Otto, it was probably just a cuddlefish or a pufferfish or something. It was dark, it could have been *anything*! And UFOs?! They're not real, man. You gotta stop it with the UFO stuff, you just sound stupid.. Frankly it's embarrassing... I mean, you know I love you, man, but.. I'm just saying, I can understand why Octavia left..."

I grew up in the northeast coast, I was an ocean baby, I feel more at home in the salt water than anywhere else, something in the primitive part of my brain, there's a connection I can't put in words, the planet in mostly ocean and is where life began, this land stuff is all new, relatively speaking.
