Mahomes might be the best quarterback to ever play for them, but they weren't afterthoughts or a crap franchise.

@@jtuft22 You are very correct. But consider that I wasn't born when the Chiefs won their first Superbowl. And as great of players that you listed are, and no denying they were great and some are hall of famers, none of them competed for Superbowls as Chiefs. Only Neil Smith got a chance and won two as a Denver Bronco. The closest the Chiefs got to competing in a Superbowl was in 93 when Joe Montana was their quarterback and got to the AFC championship where they lost to the Bills. Since Patrick Mahomes became the full time starter, the Chiefs have competed in 6 straight AFC championships and won 4. They have competed in 4 Superbowls and won 3. Cases could be made for Roger Staubach and Lance Alworth. Yes, the Cowboys contended with a number of talented players but without Captain America, they may never have gotten over the hump in the Tom Landry era. Alworth made the Chargers offense explosive and set the standard for later eras of high powered scoring machines by the lightning bolts. Ironically it took a trade to the Cowboys to get Alworth his only true league title apart from the 1963 AFL title game. The two legends even connected for an early touchdown pass in Super Bowl 6.

It's unfortunate to admit because of his character, but Brett Favre (alongside Reggie White) are absolutely the reasons why Green Bay is what it is today. Green Bay was, at best, just above basement dwelling for over 20 years at that point, then we somehow land Favre after the Falcons gave up on him after one year, and then we get f*cking *Reggie White* to sign with us. It's also why I say Reggie is just as important and big a legend in Green Bay as he was in Philly. Him and Favre changed everything and we got him the one thing he spent his entire life fighting for, a championship.

@bryanjones44443 ай бұрын
@@ravellxivrobinson4979 couple of things. Four of those championships came in the AAFC. Almost any quarterback helps the Browns to 4 consecutive championships with that defense, maybe any quarterback. The level of competition was very weak. Second, their defense was so good that they nearly had to win their division regardless of who was under center. Only two teams made the playoffs then so you were automatically in the championship game. Then even with the best defense the league had ever seen to that point the Browns were 3 and 3 in the NFL championship games. Otto earned his entry to the Hall of Fame. I would never argue differently but they won with defense each and every year. Trent Dilfer guided his team to a championship with that same quality of defense, era adjusted.
@ravellxivrobinson49793 ай бұрын
@bryanjones4444 You make. Some good points, but I feel like trying to take away from what he did. At such an early time in NFL, history is really a big disservice. Because we shouldn't forget that the AFC also produced. The Baltimore Colts, and the San Francisco 49ers. The whole reason that the NFL allowed the Cleveland Browns to even join. Was because they thought that they would just beat them all the time, and they wouldn't be what they were in the AAFC. When they joined, they owned the NFL for the most part throughout the early to mid 1950s. The only time they had trouble was with Bobby Lane, Doak Walker, and the Detroit Lions. also, they made the NFL championship game every year throughout the early 50s. One more thing, we don't think about just how much he changed the game. Being such an accurate passer at a time in which passing was one of the most difficult things you can do at that point in NFL history because the ball wasn't as it is now. Passing was so alien at that point. That's why the Cleveland Browns/ Detroit Lions rivalry was so important at that moment in NFL history.
