Society treat dark skinned people so bad then ask “why do people bleach”. When I visited Nigeria I noticed people treated light skinned people differently to me. I saw it everywhere I went. There is a huge culture in some African countries that prefer lighter skin, so why be surprised when people, especially people in the limelight are bleaching? We have to be honest with ourselves. People will not bleach if there wasn’t already a culture that showed them that lighter is better. Dark skinned babies are not born thinking inherently that they are ugly, they are taught that from what they see, hear and are told. So we need to ask ourselves, what messages are we as a society putting out there about skin colour. Once we address this then we’ll see less of these instances (I hope). .

This is a sad world. One, that is filled with narcissism. People are changing their skin -tone for several reasons. One of which, is the dislike they have of themselves. This is immoral. Another is, the demand of the industry in which they are --affiliated.To-- be exact, Entertainment! (theatre, film , television)People, especially women who have lighter complexions, are preferred in Casting among the more natural, beautiful and darker women. It is unfortunate for those who do not have any self- image/esteem or confidence in who they are as an individual." We may look the same, but we are different!" God created each and everyone of us in his/ her likeness! Please, be comfortable in your own skin! God loves you the way you are! Consider yourselves Blessed by God!

Sometimes it isn't all about bleaching, although some might be doing it mildly while others are deeply obsessed and doing it like it is a necessity.. One thing that can also lighten your skin is the weather overseas and another is being constantly in an air cool place. Why are they bleaching? Over here in the U.S.; light skin folks are played out like the 90's. Idris Elba bought it back. The darker the berry, the sweeter the juice. Stop letting the European culture destroy our lovely black skin; be proud of your color. I am brown skin and I love it. You are my inspiration and I'm a black American. After doing ancestry DNA profile; finding out that I am 85% nigerian (Yoruba); I don't like seeing young African ladies bleaching their skin, it sucks and they look sick. If you want to be light skin; then get with an actual light skin person, or if you want your children to be light; then get with a white person, or an actual high yellow person who is not bleached. Black women, there is no need to be bleaching; you are destroying what God has created for what? To feel wanted. There are plenty of men that would take you over anything. You know why you see so many light skin women without a man? It because, some men are getting tired of them. So, to end, stop bleaching this go for men and especially African women. I enjoy looking at these movies you make, but the women actresses who bleached; look pathetic, horrible looking, fake and undesirable. Dark is in and light is out! Be proud of who you are.....

Stop deceiving urself ... they all bleached period.. when you use good moisturizer, it tones your skin evenly, plumps it, brightens it, smooths it and give you a healthy glow. It does not drastically change ur complexion. It can make u a tint lighter that is not even noticeable but moving from one foundation shade to 2, 3,4 or 5 above is just plain bleaching. Chika Ike bleached the heck out of her skin. She was a completely dark skin girl. Same with Ebube nwabo, Onyii, tonto, halima, Uche ogbodo and Elendu, infact I can go on and on like literally almost all of them acting here on KZbin. This is now a sickness in Nigeria.
