One thing that I thought was interesting was that once you gain control of an objective, it is yours until the opponent tales it. Even if you no longer have any models near it.

The cover rule has 'one or more' in the first bulletpoint so that immediately applies to the second bulletpoint as well. It refers back to 'those terrain parts'

Just for clarification: wounded units doesn't suffer damage until they change to injured. This difference can shut down some interactions that could show up.

The cover rules works very similar to the one in Crisis Protocol. You focused on any number and not on through. A piece of terrain needs to be in front of the defender within range 1 of the attacker to get cover. If you had terrain in front and 1 to the left of you, and you're in range 1 of both, you would get cover from both angles from attacking different units.

"The line cannot pass through a terrain feature with a higer elevation than the character." They should have added an extra example where Ahsoka was standing on ground level behind the same building she is standing on now, cause it's referring to your target (which is on the same elevation as you or for example one higher than you, but standing behind a terrain feature 2 higher than you) being behind a terrain feature on a different elevation band.

There is no abiquity with LOS to Ahsoka as the top edge of her base isn't covered by the building.

I'm pretty positive on the rules so far, even if it's an iterated MCP and even if (like MCP) there's definitely some... less than specific bits that are going to need to be clarified by AMG. Presumably, some of the nuances and clarifications are probably going to be the same as with MCP - but you would think AMG would be getting a little better at this when specificity has been an inconsistent thing for them.

Thank you for your video and the interesting details to the game. For line of sight and cover the rules are written in a wicked way. You draw line of sight from a characters base to „the object“, not its base. Then you ignore terrain, that it is the height of the character! (So you could measure from its top right ahead?) But you don‘t ignore terrain that is higher. So there is a possibilty, that you can draw a line of sight from the top of a character to an object, but not from its base: then there wouldn‘t be LOS. „Any number“ doesn‘t include „zero“. It must mean „natural number“: 1, 2, 3, … or the sentence is without any meaning at all.

Biggest issue with rules is LOS and cover. I have the same issue with MCP. Games run smoothly and then you have to determine LOS and cover and the game grinds to a halt. I was hoping they'd fix that with Shatterpoint, but they didn't. It's still a mental puzzle to determine these things. If they wanted to make this quick and easy they should have just copied Deadzone's LOS and cover.

I find MCP's LOS and cover rules to be the among the easiest to use in all the games I've ever played (though I've never played deadzone so that could be easier). Yes they are a bit wordy and take a few examples to get your head around but once you do they become second nature. And because it's all based purely on base to base lines, you can just use your laser pointer and there is no need for any argument about whether or not it counts of you can see the targets elbow if you position your eyeball at just the right angle. The only time I've ever had the game grind to a halt is when I've had to explain how it works to a new player.

@@davidblyth9507 I'm probably in that new player level with about 10 games under my belt. It's still a lot of fun, but I just know that whenever line of sight or cover comes into play I always have to consult some picture examples to make sure I'm doing it right.

@@dwarrenmsp fair, it does take some practice for it to become intuitive, especially if you're used to true LOS games. But once it does I find it makes the game run very smoothly. If you don't already have one, I find the laser line pointers really help take out any guess work as to whether or not any lines from base to base are crossing the corner of a terrain piece.

@@davidblyth9507 I might have to get one just to have a good tool in my belt. Most of my games previous to this have been true LOS based I'm just getting used to this new way of thinking about it. I'm pretty much just only going to be playing AMG skirmish games, so I guess I better get used to it!😄

@@dwarrenmsp yeah I came over from true LOS games as well (though I did also play X-Wing which helped I think). It does require a bit of a mindset shift but once you've gotten used to that it does become very quick to just go "hey look here's an unobstructed line" or "this line passes through terrain but it isn't bigger than the target so I can still see". It can lead to some scenarios people traditionally consider strange, like getting cover for standing on top of a car, but I always remind people that the character isn't just standing there waiting to be shot, they are ducking around behind the car, bouncing over it and then doing all kinds of shenanigans.

LoS and Cover rules aren’t great IMO. First they seem to have included useless elements in the rules (eg. For LoS, ignore the blocked terrain the attacker is overlapping, and also ignore the blocked terrain at the same or lower elevation than the attacker… the second part already accounts all instances of the first part…) Secondly, they way they’ve worded it there are many instances where LoS doesn’t make sense, but worst is when you get cover from just standing on the same building as the attcker, with nothing between the 2.

As of right now, this game is getting a solid "Meh..." from me. Aside from the setting I'm not seeing anything that's new or interesting. I'll wait a while and maybe I'll change my mind.

IMHO for the cover rule, "any number" should mean "at least one", otherwise the whole second bullet point would be meaningless.

0 isn't counted as a number since you HAVE to cross through a piece of terrain for it. I do agree with you for confusion purposes.
