You have such a beautiful style! I love the way you’ve creatively mixed and matched all of your pieces. One thing I do quite often is to layer my dresses in different ways to get more wear out of them. Sometimes I layer a skirt over a dress with an interesting bodice or tie a shirt over a dress to make it look like a skirt. It’s especially handy when traveling!

Audrey, Birkenstocks are not trendy at all. They’ve been around forever and not only do they suit any day wardrobe, they support the feet and back which are most important.

@@eileenchang2173 As far as I'm aware Birkenstocks as proper shoes is a trend that comes and goes. In Germany they are also a fixture in medical practices and as slippers. At first Birkenstocks was a trend during the flower power movement. Aproximately 5 years ago they had a big comeback in streetwear also among teens (in Germany where I am located). I wouldnt say Birkenstocks are still trendy. Here they are more like the shoes you put on in summer when you don't want to make any effort. In my opinion they can ruin the loveliest outfit 😥

Very classic outfits. Have to admit that every time I wear white I get stains on it. Now I rarely buy white and would probably do a capsule like this with pink or red instead of white. So here's to your bravery in wearing white and keeping it so pristine.

I enjoy shopping and consider it a form of recreation. Now, since finding your channel and listening to your advice I've been really thinking about each item I consider purchasing. I look at the quality of the item, the possible uses, and if they item brings me joy. I use to just buy things that were a good deal even if I didn't know when or where I would wear them. I've often handed things down and given things away that I bought but never actually wore. It's a shame I'm just learning this now at 58 but better late than never.

Hi Audrey, I think you hit it on the nail when you mentioned the word ‘traveling’ , because is when I traveled in the last couple of years and I realized that I was able to put together outfits for business and for fun , in one carry-on for 10 days in the spring/summer season. It is all about the mixing and matching! And even with those styles that last forever, an injection of a fun blouse or item always refreshes the wardrobe. It is almost like applying the 80-20 rule ! Thanks for a relaxing start to my Sunday !

Loved this video. So beautifully done, with a simple message. I liked the outfits with the long skirt, they were elegant and looked like those outfits could easily flow from day to dinner. The block heeled sandals were a winner also. They were equally complementary to the pants and both skirts. I immediately clicked on that link in the description!

I love this. Im currently working on makeing my capsule even smaller. I have a spreadsheet and am marking off what I wear in a month, and starring my fave outfits. I have my clothes separated into on only two groups. Spring/summer and Fall/ winter. With the spread sheet ill be able to see exactly what I wear the most and which outfits I love the most. I feel like watching you has made me realized that I was moving toward this direction during the last few years (wardrobe capsule) without actually having a name for it. My palette is: black, navy, cream, white and blush/pink. A few floral and prints every now and then mostly in spring and summer and red and emerald green as my pop colors. I have burgundy for fall and winter. You inspire me to pair clothes that I had never thought of. I am aiming to include more colors in my closet.

Yes, Icame to ask the same, I sweat a lot and sometimes over the weekend I change multiple outfits during the day. I can't wear one top more than once for most of my tops. Especially if they are white, they have to get some lemon juice on the armipt area right away otherwise I may just throw the away into the home clothes part of the closet. Which tbf is lacking but that's beside the point 😊🙂)

Maybe you can buy 2 or 4 of the same shirt to kind of have a uniform in this case. Some minimalists do this.

i wore 1-2 bottoms a week and about 3 tops. i always hang/air dry them (never thrown in a cloth pile). and doublecheck before wearing if there're any stains or if it smells funny. also steaming/ironing if necessary

My washer/dryer is small & uses little water. I usually run a couple loads of laundry daily, hanging dry if possible to extend life of clothing. Like others said, buy multiples of basics like t-shirts & tanks.

I am going to work on a capsule that will encompass all my clothes except shorts and shorter pants and sleeveless tops. South Ga weather allows me to wear all clothes pretty much. Winter weather is pretty mild to me , and I get by with one light coat and sweaters, either as a top or over shirts. Thanks for the ideas 😊

I think we all have some black and white pieces we can put together like these you just did. I have black pants, white tops, maybe a skirt. These outfits look attainable. I do like color. I would put a colored red or pink top or floral print top with these and put a blazer in there for church.

Hi Audrey, I started capsule wardrobe while travelling about 15+ years ago while on a trip to Italy (it seemed like a good way to limit luggage and allow purchases to bring home) - I continue to do so while travelling but now consider the possible outfit combinations - I thought your handbags added a nice pop of colour and summer fun with the straw bag - just a last comment about your style at any age video - my Mom who is a very elegant lady and my style inspiration - I was looking at a picture of her in a red sweater set on the fore mentioned trip to Italy - I now wear the sweater set myself and it still looks great - Cheers!

I was comparing some of my pictures with how you look in this video (I'm talking about undertones) and I can finally see that I am a warm undertone. I had stopped capsule wardrobes as I no longer work and have more time to choose in the morning but I go too often to my "maybe" box and again grow my wardrobe too big and not stick to my chosen palette. I have to be more strict as I start thinking of buying clothes to accommodate my "maybe" clothes ( I stopped myself at that point!) However a good point is that I try to dress up even to go to the supermarket, the hardware store etc...we also can now go to restaurants where I live. Still waiting to travel...

Small prints are very flattering on you! I tend toward classic style also. As I get older, white is just too stark near my face. I've been experimenting with ecru, chambray and greys. Navy is better for me than black, but black is SO easy to pair with everything
