I got back with my highschool sweet heart after 35 years married after 40 she said before she moved back Stan I'm a package deal I have 2 pomeranians Ramone and Chloe they were Beautiful but as they got older had to put them down for the collapsed trach Ramone was tricolored tan black and white Chloe was all black that's what got me addicted to pomeranians now we have Missy Cain Dreida and Prince all 4 cost me about 6000 but I'd do it again in a minute I never groomed a dog but we do it every week and they go every 6 weeks for bath and cut if you walked in my house you couldn't tell I got 1 dog my wife is OCD about cleaning and I'm Retired 82 Airborne went in when I was 17 we're both 59 and love our BABIES ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

love love love my pom but the daily care regarding the coat isn't really true, i only have to brush mine when he is blowing his coat, the rest of the time, it really requires zero care, i know many other pom owners who are once a week, and lifes great, the dogs always looks great. many people seem to think its a lot of work, but it really really isn't a daily thing apart from a couple of weeks, like twice a year

I have to disagree with you about the pomeranian coat not needing much grooming. I've had three Pomeranians over the years, one of which is my current companion. If the coat is not brushed/combed regularly, the undercoat will form mats and tangles. Even though when petting the dog the coat feels fine, the mats are there close to the skin. I need to comb out my dog thoroughly, down to the skin, at least every couple of days. However I will concede that if the dog's coat is clipped short, that may negate the need for constant brushing. I'm aware many pom owners keep their pup's fur short.

@@LLewis-vu9qf very fair, mine is a rescue and best i can find out, always had a short coat before me (i got him when he was ten) i get the very rare mat, (often just behind the ears) but nothing more than the rare one, might be due to his age, might be cause his coat is a little off due to all that time short?

Very true! My Pom is long haired and I have never had her cut short and it's so easy to maintain. I don't brush her every day. She will get some little mats right behind the ears but is easy to brush out. They are such a low maintenance dog. All I do is trim around her ears and feet. The hair on their head and face only grows so long so that never needs cutting.

Are poms really prone to heart problems? My cousin has an adult male pom, of about 10 year old, diagnosed with heart enlargement a couple of years ago. He often collapse whenever he went so aggressive or over excited greeting or playing with everyone in the house . But generally, he is doing well. Not sickly. Well cared and loved.

This results in too much blood being carried to the lungs, causing fluid build-up and strain on the heart.

When I was little, my parents had a pomeranian with this! The vet told us it was "cherry eye" and because of her size they advised against putting her under to fix it unless it was bothering her! Not sure if that would still be common practice, but it came and went throughout her life, and only occasionally would she use her paws to "clean" it.
