without a doubt, black Friday has been progressively losing its appeal, so much so that this year makes an early 2000's black Fridays look like a liquidation or fire sale. one can't shake the suspicion that all year the MSRP/list prices of products are kept high, only to be set to their real price temporarily on black Friday,. the trample-your-neighbor-for-that-deal insanity of years past is a relic of a bygone era.

I asked my family to give framed pictures of themselves to my husband and I for Christmas. That is it. We have all decided to cut way back this year (not for the grandkids of course). Yes I'm in my sixties. I've not seen empty shelves or limits on toilet paper. Gas shortage never bothered us in northern Indiana back in the day. We definitely had smaller choices art the stores in the sixties. They made two kinds of everything. Haha 😊

Hey Matt! Been rocking with you for years now. I wasn’t able to Christmas shop much last year (severely injured, but on-the-mends🙏🏾). I find that even though I am employed, I just crave for the essentials. For instance, this year I am looking at a Walmart Air Fryer ($30) and Portable USB Drive ($38). It’s the small things that can get me through the day. I will be decorating my outside door. And when looking for those decorations, I make sure I can use them again. I think I seek things that give me peace and comfort more than anything.

Oh, Matt, you are an absolute HERO for emphasizing that we should not be putting ourselves into a financial hole to do Christmas. My family started doing Discount Christmas a few years ago where we pick out one small thing for each person and that's it. Example: I found a kind of (cheap grocery store) tea on vacation last week that we don't have here, so I got my sister a box of tea as her Christmas present. It's great fun! People have zero expectations and it takes away all the pressure to buy a certain number or spend a certain amount. Just one thoughtful thing you think that person would like. Also, kids can only play with so many things. They get overwhelmed and unable to keep track of all the stuff if you get them too much. Highly recommended.

Matt you are seeing a lot of what I've been experiencing in various stores recently: empty shells, major products missing, manager saying buy multiple now because it's not gonna be available most likely, next month and especially at Christmas; boats in the harbor we can't get our stuff off of; etc. etc. I really appreciate all of the wonderful information you have put into this video and the fact that you're willing to work so hard for us helping us to Make our money and our decisions go the farthest for the best holiday possible. I agree, stores are really pushing Christmas stuff this year. I tried going shopping for Halloween items on 10/19, way before Halloween day, and several stores had hardly anything left and were making room for Christmas items instead. Walmart was the only store that really had what I needed.

A couple of days ago, the Florida Governor invited the ships that have been docked in California for weeks, to come to FL because they have workers & are ready to get them unloaded... It will take a week to get there & who knows how long to get things going, but it's better than the ships just sitting idle in Cali

Paw to G-d -- I live in a metropolitan area. We had almost no problems. The only shortage we had was butter. That's because of some dairy problem. When it comes to the holidays, I actually start my Christmas shopping in July😬 (Christmas in July) I buy 1 gift, either once a week or every 2 weeks depending what good deals I can find. (I make a check list with my kids names and nieces and I write what I purchased next to it, so that I know what Santa has hidden for them😅).

When I was still living at home and before my grandparents had passed away, I was having breakfast and my grandfather came by one Saturday morning as he did to drop off some fresh Italian bread, he also dropped off a clock radio still in the box and said to give it to my mom (his daughter). This was in Sept, iirc. So he leaves, and mom comes by in a little while and I give her the clock radio and told her that Nonno had dropped it off. I didn't think anything of it til Christmas morning when I'm opening my gifts. Yep, there's the box. (yes, this was quite a while ago). Mom tells me she was very worried that I had seen my gift and knew I was getting it. What, who buys gifts in October for their kids? My mom did. Thanks for allowing me to remember it.

The last Black Friday I attended in person was 2012 where I took an elbow to the head for a pair of microfiber sheets I thought would b cotton off a flat being cut open in Wal Mart. There were so many ppl in the store that other ppl's body parts were touching me that I did not enjoy besides the elbow to the head. I decided then it's just not the outing for me. I do most all of it online. Thanks for the info!!
