I think we should have a separate list as to the benefits of learning Egyptian Arabic/Masry. There are many voices online stating the benefits of learning Arabic as a whole but the people who watch this channel to learn Egyptian Arabic are surely learning for different reasons.

@@ShamielJacobs-yq2zo Fusha is a high level of language that you hear in media, university, schools, mosques and in a discussion of a group of intellectuals.. It's preferred in written speech than in spoken speech. So, yes. But, rest assured; If you spoke Fusha, everyone will understand you, and as a non-speaker they will understand your position.

How to remember Arabic words?
@Polka_dot4
@Polka_dot4 7 ай бұрын
Take advantage of the derivation feature. Link each group of words to the root from which they are derived, for example: The root (k, t, b) ك، ت، ب 1. Kataba (wrote) 2. Kitabah (writing) 3. Kitāb (book) 4. Kotob (books) 5. Maktabah (library) 6. Maktab (office) 7. Kāteb (writer) Another example, the root (sh, r, b) ش، ر، ب 1. Shareba (drank) 2. Yash.rab (drinks) 3. Shorb (drinking) 4. Sharāb, mashroob (a drink) 5. Shareb (moustache) 6. Shorbah (soup)

The secret is listen as much as possible. Listen to easy podcasts, cartoons etc. no one says this but the most important thing in language learning is listening as your brain will acquire the vocabulary and grammar. You can’t rely on memorising Anki cards long term

If we gonna learn arabic we will start with standard arabic, even if I didn't learn egyptian dialect egyptian all the arabs will be able to understand me
@liliqua1293
@liliqua1293 7 ай бұрын
But you will not understand them. Arabs do not use MSA in over 90% of cases.
@Polka_dot4
@Polka_dot4 7 ай бұрын
I support this. Standard Arabic is the best begining. Even learning dialects will be easier when you master Fusha which is also the language of writing and culture which all Arabs understand. If you started learning a dialect, you will hardly learn any other dialect. You will be trapped in the city that speaks your choosen dialect. MSA is the masterkey.

@@Polka_dot4 Also, dialects haven't standard rules of grammar, you will definitely get sick trying to understand the logic of the local dialects beside the various differences and pronunciations in each city, so you may not learning the Egyptian dialect of Cairo you'll have to be flexible to the other areas means lots of dialects you gonna learn. Additionally, don't forget that none of the books are written in the dialects, all in the standard Arabic, so you will lose 1500 of written works.

You should learn both Fusha and a dialect if you want to function on the Arab world. If you plan on both it’s better to do a dialect first and once you reach a high level study Fusha.
@yousofahmad6790
@yousofahmad6790 4 ай бұрын
@@thestealth2448 I don't agree with you, Firstly, Fusha has standard grammar rules, while dialects haven't so, your learning will depend on hearing. Secondly, even if dialects are more common between the Arabs, they have lots of dialects so you will have to learn it again, while you can use Fusha and it's easily understandable for any undergraduate person.

Guys, please fix the the translations , they don't match the Arabic at all. ولذلك هي فريدة من نوعها doesn't mean "that's why there are many dialects" It should have been "and that's why it is one of a kind" or "and that's why it's special" You should try to be as literal as possible to help the people actually understand what the words mean وبالنسبة للهجات العربية فهي متنوعة "And as for Arabic dialects, they are diverse." That should be how you translate if you actually want to help people easily learn I could give many more examples where the translations aren't literal or completely don't match the Arabic If you need help with the translation you could contact me.

Yes as someone learning Arabic I'm struggling with this, it is mixing up the meaning of the words for me. It would be so much easier if the sentence translations were as literal as possible, while still making sense. It seems like they're trying to make their English translations look well articulated and grammatically correct, even at the cost of becoming out of sync with the Arabic. I'm a native English speaker so I don't need the English to be perfect, I need correctly translated words so I can use and remember them when speaking Arabic. Learning Egyptian Arabic is hard enough as is lmao
