Spot on... That's what I keep saying. Stop planting for European/US markets; they buy our produce dirt cheap and then resell it to us, processed and at inflated prices. ... That's the crazy colonial model, yet many Africans are happy to keep following that template without thinking. Plant to feed Africa first, process and add value in Africa itself and export to other African countries; yep develop the internal African Market. We must stop relying on importing processed food from Europe, US, China, etc and we must gradually reduce the production of cash crops for their markets. This will also ensure they pay fairer prices go our goods. We can only succeed if we adopt this policy across the continent otherwise they will continue to exploit our differences. Africans, wake up...

Aftricas large part of African green revolution should take place in the urban landscape from the outset. If you feed the rest fo the world with the potential farm land in Africa now its becuase you are destroying the wilds of the continent. It could feed the world if it turned the Sahara into farmable land. But Asia could do the same if it built a canal from the Caspian Sea going threw and refilling the Aral Sea, to the Yellow and Yangze Rivers and connected all the Russian rivers that could feed the canal from the north. By using this canal (witch would be wide and deep enough for Panama City sized ships) for transit and to build canals from you could turn all of Central Asia into farm land and it wouldn't be has expensive/difficult/time consuming as you'd think because most of the route would go threw desert.
