10 Reasons Why Kang Is Worse Than Thanos

Nathaniel Richards is a futuristic villain ready to wreak havoc on the largely unsuspecting heroes of the MCU. He tried to explain to Sylvie that the oncoming threat would be greater than anything she could possibly imagine, but she decided to split the Multiverse wide open anyway. Now, our heroes have seen quite a bit. Most notably, they watch a Mad Titan snap half of the universe out of existence only for them to be brought back five years laters which would follow with a huge battle with the purple genocidal maniac himself. Everything just mentioned? All of that only happens with the approval of the master of time. The Conqueror is coming to show us the ultimate power that a villain can truly possess, and while we may have though the most recent finale villain was something, our expectations are about to be shattered.

I've got a theory and hear me out. Kang wins. What he who remains explained about how he knew everything that was going to happen up to a certain threshold, I believe this was true. But a lie because of a time paradox. The place he who remains died was outside of time. While that one died he explained another variant would take his place. One meaner, and more dangerous. If there are multiple dangerous versions isnt there also multiple good versions. And there are according to the comics. It is explained kang is the winner of a multiverse war. The mcu is splitting into a multiverse rn with the nwh, multi of madness, and quantum mania which messes with time. If you think about it a multiverse war is being set up and ironlad is a huge possibility now. If a good variant wins in the form of ironlad would not kang still technically end. But for him protecting the sacred timeline is tedious... he may prefer being ironlad, and give the watch of the sacred timeline to two loki variants. Loki and sylvie. So that he who remains saying that they will all meet there again true.

Kang is one of the most powerful villains in the comics and I really hope that they keep him like this in the MCU. I'm worried for what they are gonna do with Dr doom when he is introduced though because they could make him as useless as he was in "rise of the silver surfer" or they could make him insane beyond reason where he literally creates a new universe at will. In my dream world, Dr Doom would be the next Thanos of the MCU over the next 10 years. Kang will be the big guy for the next 3-5 it seems, but I view him as more of a transitional point. If you wanna make a truly powerful villain on Thanos scale, and also a sympathetic character with understandable motivations, Doom is the best long term candidate. You start out slow with a couple minor appearances, teasing his long term presence. Then, I’d have him be a primary antagonist of the second F4 film. Before or after that, I wish they’d do a Doom Disney+ series about the Books of Doom to really flush out his character, so that people understand why he does the things he does. Then the culmination of all his buildup, should be Secret Wars where he does eventually become God Emperor Doom like you sort of referenced. So in short (sorry for the long tangent lol) I’d start him out with minor roles to set him up, then begin building him up with a couple major appearances, and then have the end goal be Secret Wars where he eventually does become Emperor Doom

Doom was more powerful than thanos and he should definitely stay that way. Although I still want kang to be the biggest villian out there so far. Doom will be the main antagonist on the earth front for phase 5 while kang will be the main bad guy for phase 4 and a background villian that will still have a master plan brewing and we get 2 endgame level events at the end of phase 5. @Remy D out of everything in those movies, Doom’s portrayal is literally the worst part of all of them, so I completely understand from what perspective why you see it that way. However, I highly encourage you to look into Dr. Doom as a character in the comics and cartoons. He’s basically on the same intelligence level as someone like Tony Stark or Reed Richards, while being nearly as strong as Dr. Strange in sorcery. On top of this, in the 2015 version of Secret Wars, he obtained the power of the Beyonder and became “God Emperor Doom”. During this time, he literally ripped Thanos’ skeleton out of him, and not even two fully loaded infinity gauntlets was able to stop him with this power. Point being, he is ABSOLUTELY an Avengers level threat lol

It’s seems like with the Multiverse Saga, the Avengers: The Kang Dynasty film and the Avengers: Secret Wars film will be connected like Infinity War and End Game with the Kang Dynasty being similar to Infinity War and how Thanos was successful at first but Secret Wars will reverse Kang’s actions.

​@@kingmuze8219 my guess is that Kang will be the overlord of Battleworld instead of Dr. Doom by the time Kang Dynasty concludes. But I still believe Dr. Doom will play a big role in this saga. Erik Voss from New Rockstars proposed a theory that The Kang Dynasty might focus on the Avengers trying to take out various Kang variants in hopes of altering the timelines to stop Kang. If Endgame was basically one giant heist with the Infinity Stones, then think of Kang Dynasty as one giant hit job after another. Only for THE real Kang The Conqueror (a.k.a. Kang Prime) to swoop in and wreck everyone and possibly even Dr. Doom aligning himself with Kang, ending the film on a cliffhanger. Secret Wars will focus on trying to bring down Kang Prime and the Council Of Kangs while Dr. Doom sows the seeds to destroy the council and whatever is left of the dynasty from within.

In the comics, Kang is shown as purposely avoiding Thanos in any timeline because Thanos is too smart and powerful. And when they did they worked together because Thanos never died in the comics and was destined to become a god/cosmic being. Comics Explained has an awesome video on this. So no, Kang was not more powerful than Thanos. Kang is just a guy from the future with the ability to time travel and future tech. Thanos is a Titan (demigod). That said, the MCU Thanos is weaker than the comics Thanos and was killed, while in the comics he lived on and ultimately is said to be destined to become a god/cosmic entity. While the MCU Kang was given a massive power up as this Kang controls time and created the TVA. In the comics Kang never had any control over time and only really had the future tech and time travel. This is why he went back to the past (our past) such as to the medieval era or ancient Egypt because they would be easy to conquer. In fact, Kang viewed the main Avengers from earth 616 as his biggest threat because apparently in the future there were no superheroes.

Yes in the comics thanos is “stronger” or more “successful” but that’s because the writers make it that way. The writers always tend to exaggerate the power of popular characters, simply because they know it will please the majority of fans. We might see Thanos down the line either to introduce some variant versions of him (I personally wanna see King Thanos cause then we get to see Cosmic Ghost Rider), some of which might help the avengers against Kang/Galactus. I also wanna see Galactus and Dr. Doom properly made in the MCU, and no... Not have them die off in one movie. Like, by pure logic alone, the heroes killing Doom would bring a massive uproar to the political world within the MCU since he is a ruler of a country,and its even more profound in the case of Galactus. He's a force of balance in the universe, thus he MUST exist and survive, so we could see more of him down the line. Who knows, maybe we get to see All Black infected Galactus introduced and fully shown in the MCU since they dropped that storyline in the comics? The Annihilation Wave/Conquest storyline? Kang is completely aware of Thanos, however Kang has made it a point to never cross him personally. Thanos has a genius level intellect, combat skills, has also created many powerful weapons himself and shown that he's tougher and stronger than the Hulk. Tho a Kang V Thanos would be very interesting to see. (Also Ebony Maw he's a very powerful telepath/telekinetic, he don't use magic).

Regarding the movie set up for this - Phase 1-3 was Thanos and you could say that many of the movies had pieces of Thanos in them (infinity stones) that eventually were all put together in the final movie sequence without needing much explanation as to their power because we had seen it before. Is it possible that the next 2 or 3 phases will do the same? Drop a piece of Kang here and there over all the movies, one variant at a time, or a piece of his tech left behind (say in ancient Egypt), until it culminates in an event where he finally tries to conquer the timeline of our known heroes while at full power? Considering he is going to be in Ant Man and Wasp 2 - could this be like the first infinity stone introduction like the tesaract in Captain America?

Alioth in the comics was a being that existed outside the time stream and was a danger to time travelers. He appears as a gigantic cloud that absorbs anything in its path and cannot be destroyed because no matter how far back in time you go you cannot alter time to prevent him from existing because he has always existed. Alioth was in fact Kang’s greatest enemy as he poses a threat to Kang’s multiversal empire.

That would never happened but honestly many others could have got Thanos. You go to understand how these type of stories work when there is a villian. A villain automatically has immunity because he has to last till the end. Before that time he has to appear powerful and unstoppable and beat everyone prior to make a good story. If you see what Wanda was doing, it was no more than telekinesis. You had Thor there who could have whirlwind him, froze him to death and crushed his body with lightening(Same if Storm was there), CM was about to beat him too if he didn't use the power stone on her that quick. If Monica Rambeau was around, he would have been done for and also Strange could have got him in Endgame because Thanos didn't even have all the stones at that point. Thanos naturally had no energy based powers so any of the powerful energy based hero's could have got him. If Jean was there should could did the same thing Wanda was doing using her psionic telekinesis but Jean would have messed up his head too. Thanos is really not that powerful without the stones BUT he is a villian and despite his strength, he has to APPEAR that way just for the story. Remember in Multiverse of Madness and people started making clips on youtube on how Wanda should have been taken out during her fight with illuminati...it's the same way. lol. You can be taken out by more than one person and not just one person.

Yeah I agree that in the MCU they have to make the big bad villain be even worse than the last one, to drive the story plot even further and introduces new idea in the series (like time travel in Endgame). But in the comic, Kang's achievement as the big bad villain is considered miniscule compared to what Thanos achieved. In one of the universe, Mad King Thanos was so powerful, he managed to kill everyone minus the Silver Surfer, Hulk, and Ghost Rider, just to please Lady Death. The only way for him to die, it to bring Thanos from the main universe and ask that Thanos to kill him.

That tells me he knows about all of these things mentioned. So in essence he didn't need the stones to defeat his enemies... he needed them to simply eradicate half the population in one instant.

Reed and the 4 came closest; but as it turns out Kang is the future future future lineage of Reed; so to really end it, Reed would have to kill himself; and even then that might not work due to the multiverse.. and Kang going back to Egypt as Rama-tut; the living pharaoh... which then leads to Reed being born. Thanos does not lie, with Kang you never know if he is lying or telling the truth. Kang is trustworthy and not trustworthy at the same time. You can always have full trust in what Thanos is saying. Thanos is not all brawl, he can negotiate and thinks tactically. He use patience, force and intimidation to get things done, he is also stupid and brash. Kang is very nuanced. We will see more of him in Quantumania but based on what we saw from He Who Remains, he gets things done through confidence, sympathy, good choice of words and deception. He is also a scientist and thinks out of the box. Thanos is more of a warrior and leader material.

Here me out. this is how I think they could adapt the main Kang that we know in the MCU as the BIG BAD(please take time to read this) So in the beginning there existed only one timeline earth 6311 (not the MCU timeline)This was a perfect timeline created by the one above all. The Avengers and other teams still existed in this timeline and they thrived to their fullest, however in this timeline time travel was not created until the 31st century when Kang was experimenting and curious to know the wonders of history. Because of this the multiverse was never a concept because it never existed till time travel was created by Kang. In this timeline which we can call earth 6311. Kang was married to Ravonna. He was a very loving and compassionate man who was always considerate towards others(biggest flaw). Ravonna meant the world to him. Apon inventing a time machine Ravonna tried to discourage Kang from tampering with time as she believes he is not fully aware of the consequences however Kang tries to reassure Ravonna that he won’t interfere with events which might change the course of history in a branched timeline. So Kang uses his time machine to travel to different important points in the timeline(observing the first humans, dinosaurs, assassination of JFK, the holocaust etc). After journeying to all these points in time and finding answers to his questions he makes it back safely into the 31st Century. Three months later Kang is experimenting more with the concept of time and discovers that there are other universes much like his own that were never there before. It turns out each point in the timeline that he travelled to created a ripple effect enough to make various branched timelines. As explained in Loki the other variants also discovered that there were other universes. They helped each other advance and KANG prime believed his unintentional creation of the multiverse was groundbreaking. For a while it was peaceful, they continued to share knowledge and resources to help their universes thrive. As explained in Loki not every variant was pure of heart with greedy variants wanting to conquer other timelines because they saw their value and resources. This lead to an all out multiversal war in Kang primes timeline. Much of Kangs timeline got destroyed during the war and he ended up losing the Love of his life Ravonna because of the cost of his creation. This moment in Kangs life enraged him and he was filled with resentment and regret over what his creation had lead to. The multiversal war ended when immortus(MCU) harnessed alioths power to attack the kang variants and causing everyone to flee back to their timelines which they all isolated from the main timeline to prevent being traced including immortus. Kang prime was left alone in the rubble of his destroyed world in despair and mourning the loss of Ravonna and most of his people in the timeline who died during this multiversal war. This event changed kang to become the bitter and ruthless conqueror that he is now. Kang then decided to found the TVA to prevent such an occurrence to happen again. he found that although the other universes isolated themselves from his timeline that new branches are still forming at different points of his timeline because of the instability he caused on his timeline from time travel which is why he needed to create the TVA. In the loki series Sylvie kills immortus affecting their timeline and creating an uncontrollable number of nexus events. This anomaly is enough to be traced in KANG primes timeline however this time KANG has prepared in case a moment as such would occur again. He has created a device much like the timeline resetter in Loki except it resets on a larger scale and is capable of erasing billions of universes at a time which can lead him to being the big bad in the Next Avengers movie. Just picture KANG primes universe as a tree the bark is his timeline, the branches are other timelines and the the twigs are the branches of those timelines etc. the device kang creates is capable of resetting A branch from his main timeline and therefore erasing billions of universes. KANGS creation of time travel can also explain things like the creation of the fox and Sony universe heroes who can also appear in the movie. Kangs motivation for his actions are because his his creation had lead to the destruction of his world and wants to undo what he unintentionally created to prevent that from occurring again. Kang in my version also explains that if he continues to let new universes being created by branching off of each other this anomaly would create a multiversal incursion to restore the balance and create one universe again however it would be at the cost of everything in the multiverse. This would force all heroes from different universes to fight each other to try dominate and claim this universe which can’t inhabit the whole multiverse(secret wars).( I have a more detailed version if anyone is interested).
