This was a great video. I have just added my Arroyo leopard male to my Mojave female. Now I know how long to leave him with her and how often. If she does lay eggs, at what temperature should I keep the incubator?

I’ve always wanted to breed and have my own reptile shop. I purchased my first 3 ball pythons and set up a room for all my critters. My snakes are pretty young, and I’m having huge problems getting one of them to eat. She’s only eaten once in 3 months, and she’s my only female. Any tips and recommendations would greatly appreciated. The husbandry is very well, up until today, because of my heat lamp braking.... now I just have one heat mat for a 20 gallon tank

I just bought a ball python and unknowingly found out she was pregnant. Opened the tub yesterday and there were 7 eggs. All were fertile and looked really good. Last year I got my first clutch of eggs so I already had a incubator. I got the incubator hooked up and the new eggs in the box. I got the thermostat set at 90 but I have a small temperature probe inside the egg box and it’s reading 86. I put 2 different temperature probes in there and both say 86. Is this going to be too cold?
@R2D242D4 жыл бұрын
Probably will be ok, just slow them down a little bit.
@marshalleng19334 жыл бұрын
Not sure if I was getting a good connection on the ring terminals I installed on the heat tape. I got it from reptile basics an installed the rings myself. I did not use special crimpers to do it. It did not feel like the heat tape was getting warm at all the thermostat prob said 90 but I’m not sure if it was correct. Using the VE-300X2

@R2D242D4 жыл бұрын
@@marshalleng1933 , use volt meter after connections and see if there is current. Make sure there is good air flow, better to have the ambient air temp warm them up, so make incubator warm inside so your not directly heating the eggs. Does that make sense?
@marshalleng19334 жыл бұрын
William Broughton it’s getting current. I’m messing with it right now. I plugged the heat tape directly into the wall and had the x2 monitoring temperature of the tape and it tripped the alarm at 95 degrees. So I know it’s getting power and putting out heat. It also zapped my girlfriend hehehe😂

I have a question if somebody can help me I accidentally Disturbed a nest of snake eggs in the wild last night when I was pulling up a cinder block out of my garden. Apparently they were all packed inside of the hole. I have no idea which way they were facing since they all tumbled out. I do know that they are almost fully developed because the one that was damaged had a snake in it but it was still pink. As soon as it gets a little bit dark I'm going to go outside and candle them and try to rotate them. Is it probably too late if they were in the wrong position for 24 hours? How do I make sure they're in the right direction up if the embryo is mostly developed and almost filled the egg?
@xrisescanilla19963 жыл бұрын
I want to add this, wrong hatched date and cutting too early. That's my issue from my first clutch.

I wait until at least half of the eggs have a slit from the egg tooth of the snake. The number or days can vary depending on the temperature of your incubator.

Why are eggs removed from the snake? I mean if you think about it they’re not removed in the wild

What kind of deformities have you dealt with? Do they live? Out of 100 how many eggs will have deformities?
@ChrisHardwickanimaladventures4 жыл бұрын
I've had some all kinked up in the egg, never made it out alive. I also had one die as soon as it came out, another I think I cut too early and it came out, the next day it was dead. Never had to actually kill a deformed hatchling, maybe 2-3 bad hatchlings for every 100 eggs.

Question. I now have everything that I need for when I get a snake. Everything is setup and ready to go. I have contacted a local breeder and they answered and said they have options of morphs I am interested in and they would send me a list and prices of what they have the next day. It has been 6 days later and still nothing. I have tried contacting them and nothing. I usually try to buy things locally from smaller businesses when I can which is why I went to them. Now should I keep trying or move on? Also still love your videos.
@ChrisHardwickanimaladventures4 жыл бұрын
Sounds like they may have had an emergency or something?
@peoriatitan51724 жыл бұрын
I hope that’s not the case. Part of me says give them a chance because like you said could be an emergency. Part says to move on. But if I move on then I’m looking at spending less on snake because of shipping. I don’t know I think I’ll give them another week and go from there.
@peoriatitan51724 жыл бұрын
Slingshot I don’t think that’s the case. It went like this. Hi I’m so n so and I’m interested in buying a ball python. I have a couple of friends that have done business with you that recommended you. This is my budget. Them: we definitely have a bunch of snakes in that price range. Are there any morphs that you are interested in? Me yes I am interested in this this this and this. Yes we have snakes in those morphs. Let me get you a list of what we have tomorrow and we can go from there. Me: that would work for me. Thank you for your time and I hope to do business with you soon! Also I live in a small country town and local is a general term as in they are 40 miles away.
