Even if I didn't particularly like the song, I can't think of a single Italian Eurovision entry that I've thought "wow that sucks". I honestly think it comes down to how seriously they take the San Remo festival, and how intelligently they approach music and arts in general.

William is so right about Sanremo! I'm Italian and that's exactly how it feels for us. The fact that the winner gets to attend Eurovision is a plus, but the main goal is the title of Sanremo winner

Omg as an Italian, it's so beautiful to read all these love comments 😍😍 thank you guys, I hope we can win soon, I'm so proud of my country (except for 2014, I really don't like that song hahahahah). By the way I would like to point out something you didn't say in this video (or maybe yes hahahaha), that is, our artists have to sing in Italian because that's the rule of Sanremo Festival and, since the song has to be in Italian, there's no reason for translating it completely for Eurovision. In some cases the song has been translated partially, especially when there's a message behind (like 2016), although this year they preferred to use text on screen. Let's hope that Rome2020 could be a reality 😉😉 if my country wins the contest, I would definitely go as audience the next year 😍😍

I have never seen Italy deliver a troll act or a disappointment at the ESC or JESC. Even if I don't like the song, I still find the song and/or the show top notch.

I think every country should sing in own language with subtitles. Italian songs usually have great lyrics (the Gabbani song too) but nobody understand them.

Why are you so negative about Raphael Gualazzi? The song is great. The song is unique. The song is artistic. You won't find a second one compared to his song in the history of ESC. Do you really believe EBU conspired with the juries across Europe to let Italy win the jury vote? Come on! This was real music. I am sure Salvador Sobral would agree.

Was 2011's result for Italy deserved... naw, Italy should have won. Yes, 2011 was a weak year, but "Madness of Love"was an amazing song and far and away the best song of that year. 7 years later, I am still salty. Also, my father loves Il Volo but couldn't care less about Eurovision.

Emma was chosen by an internal selection, Arisa had won sanremo that year(2014), people got so mad about it that the broadcasting company decided to stick with having the winner represent at eurovision. the artist can still decline though
