One of the best reviews about Bournemouth, if not THE BEST. I'm student here and watching these sights makes me satisfied.

There's a small museum at Hengistbury Head with exhibits showing it has been inhabited by humans as far back as 250,000 BC. By 40,000 BC there was a permanent settlement there. During Roman times it was a well used trading port.

Old Harry Rock's is Cretaceous Chalk. The period after the Jurassic. The Chalk cliff used to extend across to the Needles on the Isle Of Wight. The sea broke through about 400,000 years ago. The Jurassic rocks start at Durlston Head. Fossils of some of the earliest mammals that lived among the dinosaurs were found at Durlston.

In the graveyard of St. Peter's church, in the town centre, is the headstone and grave of Mary Shelley, the author of the gothic novel "Frankenstein".

The suburb of Westbourne is where Robert Louis Stevenson wrote his horror novel "Dr Jekyll And Mr Hyde". There is a street named after him.

In the 1700's, long before Bournemouth was built, the smugglers used the path through what are now the gardens to transport wagon loads of contraband that had been sailed across from France. This was to avoid paying government import duties. There was a battle between smugglers and the revenue officers on the beach where Bournemouth Pier is. The smugglers won that battle.

Pleased to see you enjoyed my hometown. If you are in Westbourne again I recommend you walk half mile to Alum Chine and follow it down to the beach. The most enjoyable way to reach Hengistbury is the river ferry from Tuckton bridge and then walk back up over the headland. But the best walks are in the hills around Swanage. If you have half hour to kill watch Bill Bailey's pub walk with Paul Merton in that area, it's on YT.

Watching the sand of Bournemouth beaches made me think there must be a sand clock factory nearby because the sand looks so soft. 😀🏖

Wow, Bourmouth also surprised me 😍 I didn't think it would have beaches enough to spend the summer, I thought that the beaches of the United Kingdom were very temperate although I have always seen in videos and photos that they have spectacular landscapes but I didn't know that people bathed in those beaches because they are temperate. The city is very beautiful, its clean streets, its architecture and the landscape it offers are impressive. I'm surprised by the long coastline of that beach and the part of its cliffs, they are quite impressive It would have also been fun if you did the zip line, I did it once and it's super fun I totally recommend it 👍

I would have loved to do the zip line. Such a bad timing that it was closed 🥲 But another time for sure 🤩 Yeah, Bournemouth is very beautiful and definitely worth a visit. The beaches are super nice but I’m not sure if the water is warm enough for everybody. I personally need super high temperatures to fully walk into the sea and I don’t think I would last long in the waters of Bournemouth 😅

Exactly, suddenly in another destination where you travel you could find a zip line even more fun and you can do it 👍 I agree, it's better to put your feet in warm waters to be able to walk in them because the waters of Bournemouth beaches must be colder than those of Italy and even colder than those of northern Spain 😂 than if someone were to put their foot in on one of Bournemouth's beaches you would immediately freeze 🥶 but the landscape is very enjoyable 😉👌

The weather can range from freezing cold to steaming Summer heatwaves up to 35C. The sea will be warmest in August, early September.
