Great advice! We’re now a month into our blog. For years, we’ve posted our food on our personal Facebook pages, and our friends finally convinced us to make the jump into blogging. We’re having a blast learning everything you mentioned. The first affiliate rejection was tough, and then came the second, third, fourth… OUCH. But finally, a few came through and saved us emotionally-lol. Everything you’ve said here aligns with our experience. We’ll definitely be checking out more of your content! Thanks so much!

You are such a beautiful person! Your ability to reach out and share with others... You hit all nails on the head. I've been trying to set up a food blog for over half a year. Not giving up. Started first with photography online videos, lessons... Took me a year to get the nerve to buy a dslr (your images are so beautiful and look soooo professional btw). But sharing your most inner (at times embarrassing) feelings and thoughts, knowing others are struggling with the same issues, is down right bold, not to mention so utterly giving of oneself. Even though there is something to be gained by a vlogger by creating any excellent video (which is exactly how I would evaluate this video), the fact that your content is forthright, open and honest is admirable. It's also so bright and insightful. Thank you so much! It really helps me to introspect and recharge my strength reservoir.

Thank you so much for your lovely comment Su D and I know exactly what you mean! When I first started out blogging, I kept looking up any downfalls that people may be experiencing as it seemed like everyone was having heaps of success. However, I couldn’t find anything which made me feel even worse about it all, so that’s why I decided to create my own relating the experience I had had. From there, I became a self-employed food photographer and initially struggled to put myself out there (again barely anyone speaking about this), but parked my fears and slight lack of confidence in order to reach out and gain my first clients. All this to say that going at your own speed and following your own journey is totally okay! And yes, everyone goes through embarrassing moments, ups and downs, tearful moments so even if they don’t speak about it they are still going through it. I am so happy I could help you in some way and thank you for your kind words. I really wish you all the best with your photography and know you will absolutely smash it :) Leonora xx

I've been wanting to start a food blog, and I HATE looking like I'm "trying too hard" in front of people so I told myself I'd start commenting and outwardly supporting creators I like even if it's just me commenting on a video so I can work on it! So, in a promise to myself I just want to say you're SO right for all of this info. Am I weird for being even more motivated from hearing all this? LOL. I took a look at your website and I LOVE the format, and your photos are absolutely beautiful. I hope whatever you're working on is as successful as what you dream it to be.

Aw this makes me so happy! Yes for sure, just becuase it hasn’t worked for me does NOT mean it won’t work for you. And not only that, starting a food blog is what led me to becoming a full time food photographer so I’m forever grateful for it. So excited for you and I just know you’ll have the best time growing your blog, a learning curve but SO exciting 😊

This was a great video and very accurate! I’m a food blogger and I definitely went into it all with no knowledge of how difficult, how much work and how hard it all would be. I was picturing like a Facebook where you just do the writing and pictures so finding I had to RUN a website was very shocking haha. I love it now but things do constantly change and I know there are still lots of things I should be doing that I’m not doing correctly. Your video was very honest and filled with great information and points to think about when starting a food blog.

This is so true! It's so refreshing to hear someone say this out loud. It seems most bloggers who are promoting food blogging only talk about the good and how easy it is if you buy this course, theme, plugin etc. We need to hear the real talk from someone doing the work. I really appreciate hearing the good, the bad and the ugly! Which courses really helped you? I've been blogging for a few months now and there is so much to learn that it's overwhelming. I'm not sure what to really focus on first. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this and which classes you'd recommend!
@leonorabrebner2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much Kristy! I can SO relate and found this too on my blogging journey, was confused as to why I wasn't making my millions!! It can be very frustrating especially when you start out and you read all these blog posts about how it can bring you a full-time income. Yes it can, but no one mentions the gruelling work that has to be done for free for years before you even see a penny (if you even make it!)! Saying that, not all is bad and there are some helpful courses to up your game! I found 'SEO jumpstart' from Productive blogging helpful, but the 'Cooking with keywords' SEO course is meant to be amazing and recommended by industry experts! I most likely would have invested in the latter now looking back. To up my photography skills I did the Foodtography School course and that was a real game-changer. A big thing I found in blogging is that imagery plays such a key part in everything. You can also listen to a ton of podcasts and find free online resources. Hope this helps x

@@leonorabrebner Thank you for the response Leonora! It's nice to know we're not alone on this journey :) Thanks you for the recommendations! I've heard amazing things about Cooking with Keywords. That's at the top of my list right now. I've heard of Foodtography School and it's great to hear how much it helped you! Because I've just started food blogging, I'm shooting with my iPhone. I hope to invest in a real camera soon, at which point I'll look into Foodtography. I totally agree that photography is key when food blogging. I mean, we eat with our eyes too, right? Anyway, thanks again for your response, your help and your content!

Hi Leonora, Love your content and I was planning to start a food blog and for that I was just thinking the name from 3 days and finally, we found the name but my co-worker advised me that this is a very tough field/niche and the competition is very high in this niche therefore we decided to move another niche which will be "Wildlife & Pets" so I need your suggestion that should we go with this wildlife niche for blog.....? Because, my co-worker has a vast knowledge about "WILDLIFE & PETS" and he loved to write and read blogs on these niches. But, I want your suggestions that should we go with this niche or not...?

Hi Salman! Firstly, thank you so much for your kind words and glad the content has been helpful :) To be honest, I wouldn't be able to advise you without doing some prior in-depth research and know exactly what you want to achieve out of it. Happy to discuss it further if you would like to book a coaching call, usually I do it for photographers but happy to help you out if you'd like to go ahead. From here, I would help you build a strategy for success. Link here if you're interested: www.thecameracademy.com/coaching If not, I recommend going with your gut! Usually that won't let you down :) thanks again!

Says who we can’t start one . It is difficult but don’t tell others reasons you should never start one . As for some one that is born with a disability condition called microcephaly similar to aurtisum and how I’m treated bad for 27 years because my head sizes , the way i can’t pronounce stuff and over protected and how I’m short and still look like I’m 10 and not allowed to be married, have kids and go out in the world to work and because I’m brown mixed Jamaican French Canadian nippising indigenous that’s a real artist trying to get known and a Bussiness owner that makes and sell my own jewelry still trying to get known and yet I’m not allowed to go to college pluse mother took my out of school at 10th grade and she is toxic the way she raise me sence she remarried that can leave to depression, I want a blog. You can’t tell people you can’t do this or that or things you shouldn’t. I’ve seen people saying i can’t be a artsy unless you go to college and your mom is dumb and your stuff is stupid on my PocahontasSeguinArt art channel on KZbin and I have to report , block And delete theirs comments. They they behave in a toxic mean way . You don’t have to have a domain name to have a website or blog website . I really hate toxic people saying we can’t do this and that and that we shouldn’t do this or you can’t be a blogger or shouldn’t be a blogger or artist . People need to learn to be more supportive than telling others you can’t . How about im also tired of people that’s strangers telling us dissabled people go work at places like Kroger stores or the bakery’s for too much less money and not protected. If I have 2 blogs but one separate to tell the real world I’ll post something like I said right now . This world and people In this world needs to understand and needs to change .

Thank you for your comment Pocahontas Seguin Art! This video is really just to debunk some myths around food blogging that people just don’t talk about unfortunately. I am sorry to hear about your situation, however this video is open for interpretation to the viewer. If you are looking to start a blog, I am sure it will be a huge success and am cheering you on from the sidelines! By the way, your art is beautiful! x

@@leonorabrebner thank you . I’ve decided to blog about bee keeping . I’m also a beekeeper and I’ll tell others how I’ve started and where to get the surplies. I can help others advertise there honey ,products , there life when they started beekeeping and the food they make with their honey. It’s also about saving the honey bees as well.it’s still also like a food blog too.To me they are still animals and animals are precious, amazing and beautiful. With out bees or animals we won’t have food like and the world won’t be beautiful. Humans destroying animals and bees and the world more worse. I made 1 bee painting but more to come and I have a honey bee art show in Georgia this October. Selling my art merchandise on redbubble. I only found a easy site to build is wix.com because you don’t have to pay to launch 🚀 your stuff but not sure how safe .
