I agree. Looks like water snowflakes! ❄️ Fun how it closes at night and flowers immersed too. I didn’t know of this plant but after the species profile it makes sense why it’s considered invasive. It’s so hearty! Seems like a really cool plant! Have a great day Joanna! 😊

This plant is a monster, you can practically see it growing. I got a plant 6 weeks ago and the stems grew to the top of the water in a week, then it grew sideways across the surface. Now the longest stem is about a metre long! Be prepared to chop it back regularly.

I love you and thankyou. I actually found it in my river and planted it after sterilizing it in food grade hydrogen peroxide and then added in my Plant growing tank. I had brought it as a whole clutter or bunch with maybe 10 plants in 1 .. now it has become 4 times its size with high doses of liquid fertilizer and has totally eliminated algae growth on my tank glass and poor Anubis. Now because of you I know the name of this magical plant.

Hi Joanna....really enjoyed this video. Can't find this plant locally, thinking it might be considered invasive here, didn't know that was a thing. I found out this week Water Sprite is considered invasive here which explains why I can't find it either. Anyhow after watching your video, I found a person willing to swap some Ambulia for a few tetras, so I am doing that swap today!

Its an amazing plant, but be prepared for some trimming even when planted. I have to trim mine down every two weeks in my "overstocked" tank because it grows up and blocks the surface so feeding gets difficult 🤣 and I only leave a couple of inches when i trim it

I really wanted this plant, "Limnophila sessiliflora" and found some on ebay. But what I received doesn't look anything like what I have seen on videos including yours. :( But since is so invasive I am not sure I now want to find the one you have. I have had two different aquarium plants jump ship (maybe from using aquarium water in my garden?) and ended up growing in my yard and I have yet to get rid of these - yes I am trying!

I would love to try it, but hair algae has destroyed my hornwort...it's a real pain for sure. I'm pretty sure it would do the same to this plant.

Have you tried tampering with your nutrient and lighting levels? Hair algae tends to do well in bright direct light when it has a bunch of nutrients. If it's a light issue, maybe adding floaters, shade, or dimming the light could help. However, if it's a nutrient issue, you could try fast growing plants, additional water changes, or something of the like. If your still at it, good luck!

You got me at low light.... How tall do they get if planted? I'm looking for low light plants that won't outgrow 7". But I guess I could just trim it every week.

☺️ I think they can reach 12” so trimming would be necessary at certain points. Lol - when I first saw this plant, I immediately thought of the common plastic versions. It’s a bummer when you can’t find certain plants.
