Your dumb yes it is still a steal bc they weren't drafted and were still available
@DeltaHighlights7 жыл бұрын
I think Connor Brown doesn't belong on the list yet. Also Klingberg should be ahead of him.
@CrackerBarrelXheese7 жыл бұрын
Delta Highlights He definitely doesn't. He didn't tear up the AHL and he's on pace for about 35 points this season, which is respectable but not particularly great, especially on an offense-oriented team like the Leafs.
@wot90847 жыл бұрын
Ryan Walters you'd understand why Connor brown is higher on the list if you watched leaf games... he can produce and he's by far our best defensive player
@CrackerBarrelXheese7 жыл бұрын
He's not your best defensive player. He's got bad possession numbers on a positive-possession team despite starting the majority of his shifts in the ozone, he isn't your top PKer (Hyman, who has better possession stats as well as only slightly fewer points), or the one buried in D-zone starts and still managing a significantly better possession number AND far more production (Kadri). I watch plenty of the Leafs because of fucking Rogers blacking out the games I want to watch.
@davidmccalla36097 жыл бұрын
Ryan Walters Yea I wouldn't say he is a steal but he is a dam good role player. The guy can play anywhere on the lineup and has crazy work ethic. He is not the best defensive forward on the Leafs but he is pretty decent defensively. He is just a hard working player, him and Hyman. He won't be a superstar but I feel like he could be a 20 goal scorer with 40- 50 points.Depends where he plays tho on the lineup. Very good on the pk too. What are his possession numbers?

*Honourable mentions:* Mike Hoffman: He's been 1-2 goals shy of 3 consecutive 30 GOAL seasons in his first 3 seasons in the NHL, not to mention his puck handling skills and shot exceed elite talent. He was drafted 130th overall (5th), and has more points in over 100 less games than fellow 2009 Sens draftee Jakob Silfverberg (2nd round). Erik Karlsson: was taken 15th overall in the 2008 entry draft and is 2nd for points in his draft class, and 1st for assists. Roman Josi: Taken 38th (2nd) and is an elite defenseman on Nashville. Vlad Tarasenko: Taken 16th overall behind guys like Jared Cowen. One of the most lethal players in the NHL. Nik Kucherov: Elite player on Tampa taken 58th. Top 3 in his draft year for points, 1st place for Points Per Game. Jake Guentzel: 77th overall, points don't lie, he has 33 in 40 games. Alex Wennberg: 16th overall, elite center on record breaking Columbus Blue jackets. David Pastrnak: HIGH offensive threat, taken 25th overall and is already a franchise player on Boston at 20 years old. Victor Arvidsson: 112th overall. Put up an amazing season and proved in playoffs it wasn't just luck. Big 4th round steal Sebastian Aho: 35th overall and represented Finland at world cup, while still being a top player in his rookie season on Carolina.

I know goalies aren't usually taken early in the draft, and I know Murray only just played his first full season, but considering what he's already accomplished you could probably add Matt Murray to this list. 3rd round pick, I doubt anyone would have ever imagined he'd win 2 Stanley cups before his rookie season was over. He didn't play enough regular season games in 2015-2016 for him to lose his rookie tag and won the cup in the post season. Plays his first full season and wins the cup again. I don't think he'll ever do better than that lol.

Watch out for Brayden Point in 2017-2018- 18 goals and 40 points this year as a 21 year old playing on a loaded team that if healthy should be one of the three or four cup favorites for next year he can be a star. I'm working with the four years of college, junior,and nhl experience window for each latter which is probably 2008 as the cutoff for your list. I'll throw out a mention that Jamie Benn was a 5th round pick in 2007 but that's not my criteria. You missed plenty though. Roman Josi 2nd round pick elite top pairing Dman he should have been a top 10 pick that year teams are stupid what can I say. Braden Holtby was a 4th round pick in 2008. One of the three best goalies in the NHL today Cam Atkinson 6th round pick in 2008 just potted 35 goals this year has been a consistent 20 goal scorer for years now Justin Faulk draft year 2010 is one of the best offensive defensemen in the league Jason Zucker 2010 year talented scoring winger for the Wild 20 goal scorer in two of the last five years Anders Lee 2009 probably your biggest omission he just dropped 34 goals on fools this year had 25 as a rookie Sami Vatanen,Craig Smith,Jakob SIlferberg,Ryan O'reilly , Brian Dumolin, Tyson Barrie just to name a few
