I felt nothing when Rost died in Horizon because he died so early i didnt have time to get attached to him. i kind of expected he would die early. when he died, i was like "oh no, anyway"

I still think impact wise, John's death in RDR is leagues above Arthur's. I can honestly say that for whatever reason, whether engrossed in the game or where I was at in my life at the time, I sobbed in a way that no other media has ever made me feel. The voice acting in that scene is on a whole other level & I have never forgotten just how much it got to me. Arthur's death was moving, John's was heart-rending imho.

Maybe because Arthur saw it coming and a lot of the game we had a part in his seeking redemption. John on the other hand was a bit of a surprise and we weren't emotionally ready for that. I teared up for Arthur, but not John

It's "Shadow Of The Colossus", not "Shadows". Perhaps you've been binge-watching "Rein Over Me" (a good movie don't get me wrong). What happens to Agro at that bridge is unexpected & sad, but I felt even more emotion at what happens just before the end credits start to roll. While all of these games contain emotional moments, for me "The Last Guardian" is without question the most emotional I've ever got while playing through a video game.

I can’t remember his name but the main antagonist of Yakuza Like a Dragon’s death was a massive gut punch. Yes he did messed up things but he had a terrible life and almost died when he was a baby because he was left to die in a locker. He was in a wheelchair and had breathing problems. Just as he’s willing to change his life and start from the beginning he’s stabbed by the worst character in the game and dies.

Rost died something inside died that day 💔 😢 😔 Arthur Morgan dies I Cry 🥲 but proud for my Boy. Joel dies with sheer disrespect 😤 I tossed that game in the trash 🗑 then I a month later finished it for HIM. I knew Aunt may was gonna die but the remastered Peter face killed that moment for me forever thanks insomniac thanks a lot.😒

EASILY could have been three. XD RDR2 has a big horse death too, though that one IS kind of based on how the player bonds with their horse. If they're not especially bonded(I believe has to be at least level 3 out of 4), then they don't get the scene, but that goodbye moment HURTS!!!

Joel was the only character they could have killed off that would have had an impact on the audience. the whole point of it was to tell a story about how revenge is empty and costly. both Abby and Ellie lose everything in the name of revenge and I don't know how else they could have told that story without Joel's death as the catalyst
