@@micheleelliott5175 EK15 A380 was still okay in my opinion because the pilots decided toga a lot earlier but I knew that it will happen because right before it was lined up I was hit by Proper Gust 💨 and I was in open field so I had that feeling that he might find it difficult. The tire marks centered exactly on the 1000 footers shows just how gnarly airline pilots are. At any given small, GA airport I fly into…the tire tracks are pretty chaotic and scattered. These big class B fields…lots of tire marks but *totally black* at the 1000 footers.

@ RV 12 is a cool looking plane. Imagine if you had to land at Gatwick on RV 12 . What a challenge it would be. I did ask this question during live stream that does it make it any easy if you are flying/landing a big plane like A350 or B777 compared to a small plane ?

@@RankupAviation With weather like this, for me, it would prooobably be a closed casket funeral. As far as the big jets go, though…I actually fly out of KPSM which is lousy with 767s, freighter 747s, etc. We even get an AN124 in there on a pretty regular basis which is mindblowingly cool in person.

Just a question I was wondering, I take it there's a marker or something on the runway like a point of no return, so if a plane is coming in to land if they're past the marker they go around because there's not enough runway to slow down?
@catsandcrafts171
@catsandcrafts171 3 күн бұрын
I *think* that it's a case of markers for distance on the runways and the individual pilots know what the requirements are for their own aircraft because all the aircraft are different. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but that's my understanding :)
@jonwallace2507
@jonwallace2507 3 күн бұрын
There are markings on the runway, the sets of white painted rectangles, you should be landing within those, if you are going to go beyond them you go around. The ideal landing point that they aim for is the largest rectangle. You can see clearly the ones at the opposite end of the runway in the footage.
@RankupAviation
@RankupAviation 3 күн бұрын
@@Pailhead33 I am no expert but I think there’s no specific ‘point of no return’ marked on the runway for landings, but pilots rely on their training and judgment to decide whether a safe landing is possible. As they approach, they assess factors like their speed, height, and alignment with the runway. If they realize they can’t stop safely within the remaining runway distance, they’ll initiate a go-around maneuver. This decision is usually made before the wheels touch down, though in rare situations, a go-around may happen shortly after touchdown. Weather, runway conditions, and the aircraft’s capabilities are key considerations in this process.
