Everyone who moves into an older house hopes they’ll find a secret hideaway of their own, but most of the stories we’ve watched and read seem so bizarre they could only happen in fiction. I lived in a house in Connecticut that was part of the underground railroad getting slaves north to Canada.There wasn't a secret room when I was there, there used to be a false wall in the basement but it had rotted away by the time I moved in so the "secret" room was plain to see.

Gotta love how North Americans think 200 years old makes for an "old historic building". When one travels to Europe you'll find that sort of thing everywhere... a buddy of mine lives in a 17th century apartment above a pub (bar) that has been there for a couple of hundred years. The oldest company in the world is the Zildjan cymbal company (the shiny brass things drummers love to hit!!) it has documents dating sales that go back over 1000 years!!! and it is STILL run by the Zildjan family. The "new" world really is new.
