Hi Greg, I try to remember these contractions from the titles of songs. Here are some of them: I wanna be your man (Suzi Quatro) You ain't seen nothing yet (Bachman Turner Overdrive) Gotta go home (Boney M) Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A man after midnight) by ABBA Ain't complaining (Status Quo). By the way - this number one rock band for me.

Thank you Greg, I've already been using those reductions regularly for quite a long time. I was wondering if the use of wanna, gonna and gotta started in the USA and then spreaded in all the English speaking countries. Do you remember for instance if you ever heard them from your parents or grandparents ?
@EnglishWithGreg
@EnglishWithGreg 4 жыл бұрын
Great question, Franco. I can't say for sure. My grandparents would NOT have spoken like that. But hey, language evolves. I'm honestly not sure whether this is influence from across the pond, or whether it is a generational thing. Either way, they're really useful tips for speaking quicker and more fluently, so well done for introducing them into your English!

Wow, that's the next 'Favorites' video. It's on the list to watch it more then twice and more times. Absolute useful to understand native speakers. I hope I can adopt it for my own speaking skill. Btw. I wanna be a confident English speaker. And I wanna go to bed now. 😉🥱

Thanks a lot for a useful lesson. Are all these contractions used in British English as much as in American English? I previously thought that such contractions as GONNA, WANNA, etc. are typical for American English.
