When you actually talk to someone you like I find it easier when you're kinda forced into it and have to make some conversation. I'd be nervous af around her but when she was my partner or we ended up naturally talking I could not stutter once. Introverts can be talkative... But only around people they're comfortable with. Usually when it's with other people they keep quiet because they don't know them well enough to just spawn a topic. So they prefer to listen to extroverts and learn so they can eventually be able to talk to them about things they enjoy themselves or what their extrovert friend enjoys.

That's partially true to my everyday life, I too, just happen to be able to quickly notice and am more aware than the other. And yeah, making friends, one that stays true and will always be true, is the reason why we check whether is it the correct course of action to be friends to a certain person. After all, it's quite easy to see through lies most people tell, as most lies are full of holes. So judging their response and expressions alone is more than enough sometimes whether you decide to be friends with that person or not. Having quite the perfect memory too makes it a bit easier to make that decision. And it appears I'm typing in a bit too much, so I'll end it here. *----------END---------*

This boy in my grade, last year (mid February) when I walked past him heading to homeroom class, he looked at me and because it was so crowded, he looked for around 5 seconds and so did I. I was confused but just brushed it off Eventually I learnt that 75% of the time, no matter if I’m near or far away from him, he manages to search and find me and stare at me for a while before walking off again. He is very introverted and doesn’t exactly have any friends (not really sure though, never seen him talk much to ppl) And same here. I’m super quiet (severe social anxiety) and.. I tend to notice him looking at me a lot + when I like someone I do the same thing as him too so I understand him.

I agree. I don't talk to most people because they talk about useless things. I don't care who's dating who, I don't care who's sleeping with who. I don't care about celebrities' lives, and I don't care what you think about other people. How about just focusing on your own lives and stop talking about the lives of others? That's what I want to say to most people, but I mostly keep it in my head because then I'll be labelled as rude or stuck up. And that's definitely happened before.

I agree. I always pondered how disgusting my peers were for talking about nothing but those things and labeling people like us as freaks because we talked about things other than sex and drugs, if anything at all. I always found the concept of dating and comparing "how many girlfriends you've had" stupid; if you're going to be in a relationship it should be important, with someone you're willing to be with for the rest of your life. I'm 19 and never been in a relationship or on a date because I don't want to be with somebody unless they're a perfect match for me. And so far I've found literally zero girls in my life that like the same things I do. I had to go through all of school thinking I was the weird one because 90% of the people there act so unbelievably immature, but I've learned not to care what people think of me because I know I'm cool in a completely different category, and that's all that matters. My small group of introverted friends and my video games are all I need to be happy for now. c:

I can't look at restaurant employees when I order food, I'll stare at a table or look at the ceiling instead, people think I'm crazy but I'm just really shy and don't like people. As an extrovert, all of my friends are introverts, but in the sense that they're quite shy and aren't particularly talkative. I'm pretty much a social butterfly who either gets a friend stolen or the friend doesn't want to be my friend anymore by dusting out with hurtful things and cutting off ties with me without telling my anything before a sudden outburst. I think this is an issue lots of extroverts like myself need to work on, especially the second one , because 2 complaints I get are that I'm too bossy and I criticise too much. Random song you should listen to is Lateralus by Tool. There is a line "Overthinking, overanalyzing separates the body from the mind...withering my intuition..." I can relate a lot. I have social anxiety, and it is bad. But it has been worse. I tell you with 100% sincerity that the thing that has helped me the most-more than breathing exercises, medications, biofeedback, and more than therapy- is humor. I have slowly, over time, developed a perspective of lightheartedness. I started by just thinking of something completely ridiculous and goofy in my head that makes me laugh inside. You know, the kind of thing that makes your heart flutter real quick? It usually settles quickly. But if you learn to perpetuate that feeling of goofiness, and use it as a lens with which you view the world, life can be bliss! Obviously, you can't be in a perpetual state of euphoria. And this may sound outlandish. But I am telling you, this has been my release from the sentence that is anxiety. I'm not saying I'm cured; I am on the whole still an anxious person. What I am saying is that I have learned that i can transcend, or override anxiety with laughter! When i reached the point where my delight turned into a physical smile, I struggled to maintain it, feeling guilty or something, like what is this?! Smiling, in front of people?! Quick, tighten your lips before they see you! But I learned how to hold a big, cheesy smile, and I am a genuinely happier person on a day to day basis than years ago. There are admittedly many other factors to my relative success. But I just thought that I would share one thing that i think is pretty profound. Hats off to anyone who reads this junk hahaa

Because their traits (for most) are similar. Have you ever noticed that in the case of pet owners, those who choose to have cats exclusively as their pet of choice, tend to share similar personalities? Same goes for extroverts and dogs! Both usually sharing a more outgoing and extra social behavior, so most of those who stick to mostly dogs tend to be extroverts. Of course theirs always the outliers or exception to the rule, like myself where I tend to have both in the same house hold. But even prefer the company of a cat or relaxed dog due to my own introverted personality. Anyway, that has been my observation from my own experience with other pet owners at least.

This is all so true for me. This is stuff extroverts need to know. They don't know how much courage it takes for us to talk to people we've admired for a long time. We're complex, but will only share our complexity with people we 100% trust. We're not antisocial; we love our friends, but we choose very carefully, and take it seriously. An introvert's love and trust is something others must earn, and once it is, it's unbreakable. Our shells may be hard to crack, but there are still soft spots, and we'll gladly open up to people we like. This video should be required viewing. It's beautiful.

KingsleyIII we got an extrovert society and it leads to introvert discrimination, as it seen in every aspect of our life (if you don't see it, you're not paying attention to world). So, being an introvert is pretty hard. And this split in society build up for extroverts causes labeling from one side to another where one is autists and another is ignorant social whores. And worst part is that we can eliminate this ignorance just by treating introverts like introverts and extroverts like extroverts instead of treating everyone like extroverts. I'm talking about education, ads, TV, etc.

KingsleyIII I agree. This video did an amazing job of explaining it all. I like that I felt understood when the lady in the video was talking. It's so hard for me to talk to new people, so most conversations end in an awkward silence. I think that the video showed me some ways that i can work to be better too, and try to make more of an effort to talk to people that I want to be friends with, instead of waiting for them to talk to me.

Only thing i disagree with in this vid, is that they're making out introverts to be so special that extroverts should feel honoured to be let into their world. As an introvert myself, i've never ever felt that anyone else was actively trying to understand me. More that i should be thankful for what time they could give me of themselves. "fast paced times" "world's speeding up", these are the excuses fed to me as to why i'm constantly forgotten or ignored. Sh*t. Gonna go now before the tears start. Bye.

This is especially true when that trust has been broken... Multiple times... Like literally I since I moved I have two "main" friends. And even still I keep them at a distance not because I don't trust them, I just have trusted other people before and I've been hurt.

It's a double edged sword... A part of me loves the solitude, but at the same time I want a little bit of what they are having :) It's just not fair to date someone you know wouldn't be happy living with your lack of social interest. My life is pretty much all about lying to everyone about the most mundane things, it's easier that way.

Me as an introvert I had a friend that's been through me since most of my childhood and he was the first person that got to know me very well and helped me break out of my shell and be more confident around others and speak more and more and for that I am grateful that he became a part of my life and consider him as a brother.
