@Iniquityslasher here's something that always comes as somewhat of a revelation to people who say exactly what you said: Someone who uses a $500 knife is FAR more likely to clean it regularly. Also, the dirt and grime on a knife that many see as "obvious evidence of use" can usually be cleaned completely or almost completely away with some simple soap and hot water. Tons of people who buy $500+ knives will use them and get them dirty. They just aren't super concerned with uploading every last bit of evidence to the internet. Facts. Have a nice day

Kimber USED to make excellent rifles and 1911s. I have a gold match from about 25 years ago and it's one of the best shooting factory built 1911s I've ever shot and ain't that far off my Wilson. Key Words in that is USED TO. Sad how badly they have fallen off over the years and calling Benchmade the Kimber of the knife world of vice versa is extraordinary accurate lol. I've going a Kimber custom shop .22BR I had them build me as a Pdog popper about 20 years ago and that still to this day is one of the finest rifles I own, been thru 4 barrels and it's been a .25 minute rifle always and has some of the most beautiful XX grade black walnut that I've seen! I have a couple Dakota customs that I've commissioned over the years that aren't much prettier lookers and not better shooters neither. Sadly the Kimber of old is not the Kimber of today.

As a back woods hick who carried a victronix knife for 40 years (sometimes we with a fixed blade hunter/skinner), I always kind of considered most "modern" folding knives as a bit prissy. Other people's opinions means nothing, they just don't as will never understand. HOWEVER, my New Years resolution is to go cold turkey. No more knife buying. It was better than any knife I had carried before it, and it set a new standard for what I expected from a pocket knife and how much I'd be willing to pay for one. Especially the people who view knife steel as some kind of precious metals or gems and think that a slab of Magnacut or something costs hundreds of dollars and should add hundreds of dollars to a knife's price. Also, the people who make it sound like you can't have a perfectly functional, well-performing knife made from budget/classic steel. These same people don't even use their own knives and when they do, they only open their Amazon packages. I recently had a guy challenge me for saying that I've been using a $15 Amazon brand karambit to break down carboard boxes and am satisfied with its performance. He said that that "I only believe" that it's sharp and working well, because I haven't experienced "real knife steel", "which would make the job so much easier". Yeah dude, I'm just tearing though that carboard with sheer brute force and will power and am totally switching to a Shiro in CPM-Magnavanelmax369 since you pointed this out for me. LOL.

It's not like they do mass market production knives at scale instead of customs and of course they totally aren't a big enough company to fulfill demand. Boil it down. EDC of any kind is a personal journey. It can be an expensive, confusing and frustrating journey. While it is not a journey for the faint of heart, most of all it is YOUR journey. Nothing wrong with trying to help point fellow travelers in the right direction when you can but the journey is hard enough without adding meaningless battles that get you nowhere. Stay in your lane, help out when you can. Good advice for any position in life really. I started my EDC journey many years ago and only now have I found what I like that is also exactly what I need and nothing more. It was expensive and confusing at times and even frustrating. Certainly there are people with more than me but I have a nice pile of wallets, holsters, watches, knives, flashlights, multitools, etc. I'd hate to think what it would have took without guidance but, thankfully there have been individuals and equally as much content creators that guided me along. So thanks to all those people with MC being included. They never TOLD me what I needed but SHOWED me what might work for me. There is a huge difference.

I just buy what works for me and my budget. I don’t care what anyone else buys. Do what works for you. That’s why they make knives all over the style and price spectrum. There’s a knife for everyone. Just enjoy the hobby.

Personally, I don’t care what other people think about my knives or how much I paid for them and definitely don’t care what they think about how I use them!

the biggest red flag for me when it comes to knife snobs is definitely when someone starts stuffing spaghetti into their pants.
