My advice: have your own opinions! Just because everyone loves Miller's 80s Batman stuff doesn't mean you have to. There are people who enjoy Identity Crisis, but aren't really into John Byrne books. I knew, cause I'm one of them. Be open about what you love and don't let people bully you out of it. Didn't find anyone like that here, but I've been on Facebook groups and KZbin channels with people like that.

If I find it's hard to read a book I drop it from my list, no regrets. I'll pick it up later in trade if it gets better. If I'm falling out I re-read a old favorite and it gets me excited again. Awesome video

One of the best videos you’ve ever made, Robbie. Loved every bit of this comic advice 👍🏼

I think something I bring to the discussion is a hunting strategy. I tend to have an idea what what books, characters, and runs I prioritize more than others and I make sure to look for high priority books first. Right before I head to the register I go back through my pile of comic books and decide if I really want to go home with everything in my pile. If I can talk myself out of a book I will put it back. Lastly, I also have what I call an active and passive hunt. Active being those high priority books I look for everytime I'm in a store, passive hunt being books I'd like to aquire over time and usually only pick them up when I'm not having any luck in the hunt. This helps me carefully grow my collection, not spend too much money, and I can keep having fun every time I go to the shop.

The rule about gifting / leaving comics in waiting rooms and similar places was a really good idea. Never heard of that one before. =)

Appreciate the advice. Just sort of getting back into comics and it's very easy to be overwhelmed with all of what's available. Thanks for the video.

I been into Comics since 2019 and what keeps me excited each week is meeting up with my friends and talking about the past week of comics. I have been overwhelmed when I got 2 events going on (Judgment Day, Dark Crisis) but I figured out how to manage my reading between Singles, Trades, and wait for digital (Marvel unlimited, DC infinite) this helps me save money as well.

Hey man. Your list is 100% correct. You should do a "endgame" video too. I am very curious about your plan.

This was perfect! I do pretty well all of these things. I'm getting to a point where I should maybe sell some books, but I've been leaving books in the little libraries around town. I've accumulated a ton of back issues and I haven't read a quarter of them yet, but I will. Everything is organized and I've made (and changed) plans on how to read it all. Keep on rockin'!

Great video. When I'm reading an older story in a trade I also like to research stories behind the stories. For instance, the story of creators or Wonder Woman with the 1st appearance of Wonder Woman... or while reading Hardware looking up the story of Milestone Media.

I wish I had a whole weekend to myself to organize my books, lol. It's so hard for me organize. I'm trying to organize by titles, characters, by favorite artists....it's a mess😭. I'm trying to read as much as I can, but man it's hard work trying to find time---more important obligations always get in the way. "Adulting" sucks sometimes😅

Great advice Robbie. I love the great stories and displaying the beautiful covers like fine art. Cause they are! I also love reading comics to study, learn, and find inspiration for my own comic book I'm writing. it makes every comic , even the bad ones, worth it, there's always something to appreciate or learn from. Station! 🤘🤘

I am guilty of passing up good comics because I couldn’t get into the art. I would never have read Sandman if someone hadn’t talked me into and once I got into I really appreciated the art styles.

This channel has gotten me back into comics. Great channel dude! All the advice is spot on. My method is the 'ol 'best attitude is gratitude' approach. I bought a modest 5 comics last month, but it was all great reading (20th century men!) and I look at my humble stack as really valuable, cool items, and don't stress about not having all the trade paperback editions or whatever. Great vid!

Are there any non U.S. citizens who have a large backlog of books you haven't read and keep buying new ones? I never encountered this till the internet. Are books cheaper in the U.S. ? I live in Australian books are expensive here. I feel like everyone borrows half the books they read. Also we have libraries everywhere that constantly update their collections. I used to live right next to a library that had an app so you could order books from other branches or even get them to buy stuff If you went in person and wrote some new releases on their list.
