Great video, I totally relate to getting tangled up with the hood of the sleeping bag! One thing I find that definitely helps getting to sleep is whiskey, although it's not so good for waking up in the morning 😆

A good pillow, and wide warm sleeping pad. Also changed to quilts. Suits me better as side sleeper

Oh yes, nothing worse than a too-narrow sleeping pad. I don't know who buys those. Some people must not move at all in their sleep.

Excellent, zoals steeds !

Another good value video, always happy to see you've uploaded something new! You talked about overdress to not get cold, more important is the R-value of the sleeping pad, better a higher R-value then to little... 🥶

You're absolutely right, I'm working on a video about that as we speak. Literally just spent the night on top of some ice cooler packs to put those R-values to the test 😂

nice and simple With sleeping mats, make sure they are insulated enough for the season A cold mat will keep you awake Also sleeping bag liners can keep you much warmer as a second layer or cooler by having you bag unzipped and the liner wrapped round you

I've never actually tried sleeping bag liners (heard they don't add all that much warmth for the weight). But I may have to try one out then! Any in particular you'd recommend?

@@BelgianHikers Snugpak Paratex liner @ 200g It is wind resistant so it stops the movement of warm air, so it cuts out drafts when around your head and movement of warm air into your bag, and yet it is very breathable, I took mine to a seamstress and added a one meter zip to make getting in and out easy Really easy to keep clean just into the washing machine, so it is great on longer distance trails It maintains the sleeping bag from getting dirty and smelly, where body oils into the insulation decreases the efficiency of the bag

One of the reasons I didn’t sleep well was that I slipped off my Therm-a-restless a few times a night. That problem was solved with a Sea to Summit Ether Light (not really light).

The Ether Light XT's one of my all-time favorites. A 10cm thick pad is never going to be featherweight, but that one's definitely worth the weight.

@@BelgianHikers sure. Better count sheep than grams to fall asleep.

I always find sleeping next to rivers is a bad idea, not only does it make me want to pee more during the night. But in relatively bad weather, potential rising river levels can enhance the feeling of impending doom and getting washed away !!
@BelgianHikers2 жыл бұрын
Hah, should have included that as number 11: avoid feelings of impending doom 😁
