In this video, Janak Lotwala, a retail investor with over 10 years of experience in investing in the stock market, discusses megatrend investing and proxy investing by giving examples of 10 top solar stocks in the solar sector. These stocks have been Multibaggers over last few years and will they continue being growth stocks, is something that we will find out.
While these may or may not be the best stocks to buy now in solar or top stocks in solar industry as they don't generate huge revenues, but they have the optionality to expand this portfolio of business with time.
Many of the stocks discussed might be hidden stocks in solar as far as the value chain in concerned, but they can act as very good proxies for growth in times to come to ride on the entire renewables themes. This is known as Proxy Investing & we have covered same in the video too with examples of few proxy stocks
He will talk about the products and components these companies make in this value chain. Janak discusses two parameters, qualitative and quantitative.
There is great headroom in this sector of renewable energy, and solar is a major component of it. The government is also providing great incentives for this industry.
Discussion starts with Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals; they have developed a digital remote monitoring system for solar pumps, hence an interesting business to study.
Aeroflex India makes solar hoses used in transporting water in solar panels.
Next, HPL Electric makes products like DC connectors, cables, street lights, combiner boxes, and smart meters.
Two PSU NBFCs, PFC and REC, also play an important role in providing capital to these businesses and have seen an increase in loan disbursements.
Exide makes solar panels, batteries, and inverters for solar rooftops.
Risabh Instruments is the first company to make string inverters.
Indiamart is the market place for solar, water management, biofertilizers, EVs, and raw materials for solar panels like glass, plastic, machines, solar cells, etc.
Gujarat Fluorochemicals makes PVDF fluoropolymers with other optionalities like 5G, EV batteries, semiconductors, IoT, solar panels, hydrogen fuel cells, etc.
KEI makes the cables and wires used in the solar.
