Not so sure that the Great Fire of Rome was convenient for Nero. Let's not forget that he'd rebuild the city with larger roads where firefighters could pass through easier, no more small paths and houses impossible to reach! Then he'd also revamp the fire departments and release a number of safety rules. Nero was an artist, a dreamer, and yes, would succumb to mental illness in later years, but to me, he was the most misunderstood person in Roman times. So many rumors and defamation around his persona. Btw the fiddle (or rather playing his lyre) story first won traction with the 1951 movie ''Quo Vadis,'' portraying Nero as a complete lunatic wrapped up in his own world, when Peter Ustinov as Nero played that lyre while Rome burned.

yes, he did indeed, he modernized it. Before the fire, Rome only had a minimum of safety rules, basic firefighter staff. Together w/ mostly wooden housing and very narrow streets, all clustered together, it was a tragedy in waiting. After the fire the entire city was better equipped for any sort of catastrophies.

The story about Nero fiddling is bullshit on it's face - the violin hadn't been invented when Nero was Emperor. As for the rest of it, Nero was busily organizing firefighting efforts and directing citizens to safety.

How is Troy the spiritual ancestororal of Rome? Trojans were of turkish background,with differant gods than romans? Besides the Greeks (which started rome) beat the trojans before before Rome was a powerhouse. WTF do you just say anything?

Turkish? Just because the city was founded in what is modern day Turkey? Do you just spout any nonsense that happens to cross your mind? The city of Troy existed in one form or another from 3500 BC until 500 AD, and at no time was it a "Turkish" city. In the Classical Era, Troy was most definitely a Graeco-Roman city, with the same gods, customs and culture of the Greeks and Romans.

Turkish means "Turkic" from the steppes of Asia. The ancient indigenous people of Asia Minor/Anatolia were not Turks. They were more closely related to the Greeks and other Mediterranean people.
