smackdown midcard in 2006 was the drizzling sh*ts and most of the new guys they got outside of MVP, Boogeyman were just generic boots and tights guys. even when they had personality like Kennedy or the look like Lashley they're still just generic looking wrestlers. how many guys like that were there in the ruthless aggression era. Gunner Scott, Heidenrich, Luther Reigns, Matt Morgan, Nathan Jones, Finlay, Dave Taylor. Pirate Burchill was different and unique and i remember really liking him. and he was definitely over so Vince was just wrong. that's how you know he doesn't care about smackdown he clearly only watched raw because if he was watching smackdown he'd have seen that Burchill was over.

While I don’t think the Eugene gimmick has aged all that well I will say I did enjoy some of his stuff with William Regal. It was a rare sight to see Regal as an eventual Babyface and there was something humbling about watching him take care of and stand up for Eugene. I also think he gave some of his best promos at that time, though then again Regal gives amazing promos anyway 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁

Problem was the gimmick itself could only go so far... and would have worked so well to get him out of the Eugene character if he had still been around when Punk had the SES. Could have ran with a story that Punk found out from Bischoff how his family treated him and drugged him to act the way he did, allowing Punk to save him and let Nick Dinsmore show that he can actually wrestle.

Eugene was an interesting character, you couldn’t help but root for him. Yes, he was treated badly, but that was the point that made fans side with him. A lot of people are jerks towards anyone with disabilities, and of course wrestlers would amplify the situation. I get it though, it’s current year and you have to virtue signal that it’s unacceptable to be mean towards minorities, even in a fictional wrestling program.

"Hide the sausage with sister Katie Lea" 😂😂😂😂😂 It sounds sick and good at the same time. Katie was a talented individual in her own right. At a time, when WWE was depleted of its own resources, they had to rely on women like Beth (Phoenix), Michelle (McCool), and heck even women like Kelly Kelly (no doubt a hottie but not a champion to Torrie Wilson's level), Eve Torres and even Layla. Layla happened to prove her worth but it was kinda too late as she got injured probably around 2012 and eventually retired. Katie could've been what Natalya has been, a gatekeeper for over a decade. Katie deserved at least one run with any of the women's titles be it the then Women's Champion, Divas Champion or even either of SD or Raw women's champ. Ps- it could have only be me that finds Katie to a worthy title holder.

This is gonna be a little lengthy, but I wanted to say that you guys hit the nail on the head with what made the Eugene character uncomfortable, it wasn't the character himself necessarily, but the constant humiliation and beatings/treatment he received. When a person with mental disabilities is portrayed like that, as a joke and a victim, it just makes for unnerving viewing and it's aboslutely not necessary to portray them being put through trauma like that. Just wasn't needed.
