Stormbow is still extremely good against the destroyer, but you are better of using hellfire, jester, or unholy arrows since holy arrows don't pierce and the extra damage from the projectiles just isn't worth it. Hellfire stormbow when aimed at coil takes out 70% of master mode destroyers health before it can uncoil.

The Flamethrower is also surprisingly effective, despite what you may expect at first, but the ignoring 15 defense points, the decent piercing and fast hit rate it has can quickly melt The Destroyer

Absolutely, I picked flamethrower as my weapon against mechdusa in my legendary GFB run, it was super efficient. ( And I also use it to burn down Plantera later, such a nice weapon. )

You're using the star cannon VERY wrong. Fall through your hellevator so you can shoot the whole destroyer at once. You won't get hit at all and it takes like... 15 seconds

I know it's post-plantera but I'd of LOVED to see an honourable mention for the proximity mine launcher. It has the highest theoretical TTK vs the destroyer, of under 0.5 seconds. If you had a single platform filled with PML mines and summoned the destroyer (where he'd be forced to spawn on that platform), he would be dead before the cast animation for the mechanical worm ended.

Similar but can be obtained easily is using dynamite while the Destroyer is clumped up and killing it in probably a similar time if not slightly slower, still quicker than any of the weapons in this video

Life drain will always be the most underrated destroyer weapon. Heavily relies on attacking the destroyer ball, but can easily do a sub 15 second kill in master mode.

You can also insert a shadowflame knife into the video. This is a very underrated weapon that, due to bouncing off the destroyer segments, deals huge damage to it, idk why no one uses it

I just want to add part of the reason the stormbow has high early-HM pick rates is also due to the fact that its pretty good against the other mechs as well. Same ammo/evil arrows work. Same goes for dart rifle and meteor staff, but thats about it from the list from a practical, casual playthough POV

In my Warrior Run, I used Excalibur. I got him in 1 attempt, although it was *classic mode* Sock is doing this on Master. However, on my 'fortheworthy' Legendary Mode Run, I beat Destroyer in 1 attempt with a Summoner Loadout, using the Sanguine Staff, Firecracker, Cool Whip, and Daedalus Stormbow with Holy Arrows for the worm itself, I used the Sanguine Bats and whips to ward off Probes. My DPS regularly hit 3600. I beat Destroyer (204,000 HP) in 4 minutes without an arena or any platforms. A record for me. (When I said "record" I meant, that I never fight Destroyer without an arena, but sometimes I do a test run just to see. The 4 min kill isn't the fastest I have done, rather, I killed it in 4 seconds with a Stardust Armor Summoner Loadout using the Terraprisma and Zenith with Lunar Portal sentries.)

I actually use the regular Night’s Edge to defeat the destroyer. Despite being a pre hardmode weapon, it deals respectable damage, not as good as the drippler crippler, but easier to obtain when blood moons just don’t appear.

Since you showed off the phantom phoenix I've loved that Bow and I go for it in every playthrough. It may not have the fastest times but man is it satisfying to send a phoenix through the destroyers entire body for thousands of damage!

When i entered hardmode (pre mech bosses) in my second legit new playthrough world (master), I crafted the Super Starshooter and let me tell you how underrated of a weapon this is. I nearly beat The Twins first try UNPREPARED with the Super Starshooter. The Super Starshooter helped me from mech bosses to Golem. It wasnt until after Golem was defeated that i got the Terrablade (multi-class run). Since then ive been stuck with Lunatic Cultist and Empress of Light (both night- and daytime).

Flying dagger on clumped up part is shocking. Even if you can't get to it on time,holding it still makes it fly left to right. With easy obtainability(hallowed mimics)and great damage(around 63 base damage)it WILL hit 5-7 segments at a time Assuming you are melee,as that is the damage tipe,you will find yourself doing up to 2500 dps with melee emblem It has unlimited range as it follows your cursor and doesn't come back to the player untile you let go of the trigger. And it is also good for twins as the infinite range lets you hit them from anywhere Skeletron prime might put up a struggle but not that much so you can realy use it for all mech bosses and most events If your pushing the boundaries,yes it could ne hafective on plantera with it's infinite pierce and range So basically its something you can get at the start of hardmode and it can carry you to plantera

How to fix The Destroyer to make him not cheesable: Make him split into multiple segments like his pre-hardmode counterpart. The changes the dev made to him in 1.4 was just lazy, and didn’t actually make the fight harder, just encouraged you to want to cheese it MORE to get through its bloated HP.

personally id use something like the pulse bow, because with good armor its damage goes up almost 200 with infinite penetration, and putting this up with the infinite arrow quiver means you have unlimited ammo and unlimited piercing

You can also 1 tap the destroyer with enough mines from the Explosive Trap Cane, although it uses the glitch of storing Etherian Mana in a chest and takes a lot of time.

Honestly I would still recommend beginners to use the nimbus rod. You can build a 1 block wide solid block skybridge and the rain will still fall through it if you place the cloud directly on the floor. Then you can run left and right to prevent the destroyer from reaching you, and all you have to do is kill some probes.

If you wanna grind the Destroyer in the postgame for some easy cash, just yoink an S.D.M.G. from the Moon Lord, craft a stack of Luminite Bullets, and go ham since the 15 pierce mechanic of the bullets means you're basically sextupling your damage output on top of them having extremely good base damage. You want to catch the Destroyer as it uncoils though since the piercing can be hard to line up otherwise, and the damage falls off for each pierce.

seriously when i was in mage only i had only the Forbidden armor with no hardmode weapons, demon scythe and aqua scepter and the rest of pre-hardmode weapons on expert, and i beat it. in melee: use a spear and sword in range: the iconic bow with holy arrows in mage: use debuff books and ironically the Aqua scepter for piercing or meteor staff if you want the stormbow 2.0 and summoner: A Optic staff or Blade staff with the firecracker or durendal

For my WR run for All Achievements I used… dynamite, and that’s it. Go to the right side ocean and in the middle of the ocean pile up about 30 blocks and place a block that’s resistant to explosions (hardmode ore, chest with item in, etc) Then go up about 70 blocks and put a small platform. Remove all blocks used to build up, throw some dynamite, then kill the Destroyer. It takes less than 5 mins to set up, kills the Destroyer much quicker than any of the weapons in the video and is actually the earliest obtainable one (Btw this doesn’t work on the left hand ocean cause there are some hidden blocks that the Destroyer can spawn on that you can’t see when playing but can if you load up a world download) So yeah, if you wanna kill the Destroyer as quickly as possible while using pre HM weapons and gear, use dynamite

I love the blade staff, but it only really does good dps against the Destroyer if it's clumped up and you use whip tag damage stacking. Otherwise, it's sub-optimal for the fight.
