its a very busy road there , so not excatly safe to stop and assist there .. also at least there bikers in that clip were wearing the helmet properly(tied the chin strap) many here tend not to fasten the strap , and when you see video recordings of the accidents involving bikers, alot of the time the helmets flies off ..

Sister but I notice from video clips that South east Asian and China when there is a sinkholes people just drive and moves on maybe they have different justification for it, but I always get surprised, for example there was a clip where a tow truck dragging a motorcycle 30 meter away and he turns from one street to the next, and drive and drive while the old lady (the owner of the bike) running behind him trying to tell him the bike is dragged on its side, by God he pass through intersection slowly and people just watch him pass by and don't say anything, I was very surprised, that it stuck in my mind vividly ... the lady was running behind his car (she was a bit old) but he did not see her and he pass through car and people and no one tell him anything.. I saw 2 motorbike of two couple fall in the middle of the street, the other guy on his bike parked, he left his head, and continue browsing his mobile as if nothing.. I would jump to help they were in the middle of a busy street.. he just looked (as if he were looking at a bird or a cat) for a second, and continue browsing while they struggle to disentangle themselves of the 2 motorcycle.. that what I mean, but you are right I have not seen instructions in driver license rule about that, but it is just humanity in us that make us want to help.. perhaps you may explain (if you are from those culture) as to why most (not all) don't react.. thank you.. The Car Passing Video - I think Christopher overreacted, I’m not suggesting that the situation wasn’t dangerous. What could of happened was, brake strongly and steer to the edge, without locking up the brakes, thus loosing this ability to control the vehicle. There was sufficient space for a mildly competent driver to avoid this accident, slamming the brakes wasn’t necessary. And for the oncoming driver to accelerate to ensure he was past the slower vehicle was actually the right thing to do, otherwise it may well have a 3 car head on.

It's not three wheeled, the oscillation is due to the head mounted camera. And he wasn't speeding, the speed limit on those roads is 60mph. Whilst swerving definitely isn't helpful, he was merely centimetres away from a fatal head-on collision, so I don't blame him for panicking.

I doubt he swerved that much; it might have been the combination of braking and steering that made the car slip.. and it's easy to tell people to be more careful on the controls in such a situation, but that's a reflex, one needs extensive training to not do that.

Ricky that is why I say important to remember.. meaning we should remember not to over react, we don't have opportunity to practice such situation in a closed track.. but swerving effect is underestimated by many.

I remember seeing the second video on reddit shortly after it happened, and somebody calculated how high the manhole covers likely flew. Based off of the average weight of manhole covers and the fact that the one that almost hit the white car took about 11 seconds to land, it went somewhere around 485 feet (146 meters) in the air. As for what caused it, it's totally possible that it was caused by a person. I've seen a video before of a similar situation on a smaller scale, where somebody stuck a smoldering cigarette butt through a hole in a manhole cover, and there was a sudden explosion that threw the cover into the air, barely missing their head.
