One of my favorites that never gets mentioned is the big white thing from the finale of POLTERGEIST. The one that briefly appears when the mother tries to get back into the kids room at the end of the movie and suddenly this giant long armed/legged broad faced white thing ( I always thought it looked like a cross between a horse and a mosquito or spider) appears in the way of the door and screams at her. The practical effects in that movie are amazing, but particularly that monster, blows me away to this day.

Ada was not kidnapped by her mother. It was Maria who kidnapped Ada from her sheep mother, then Maria shot and killed the sheep mother, because Maria refused to give Ada back. Anyone that saw the show is aware, Maria was the monster in the film. The Ram-man shot the husband in return. It was karma, as Maria killed the Ram-Man's spouse, then he killed Maria's husband. The Ram-Man would not have known how to use a gun, until he saw Maria use it on the ewe.

That scene in Insidious is iconic, but the scariest scene in the movie to me is when they are in Dalton's room and the psychic can see the demon on the ceiling above the child's bed and is describing it to her sketch artist. The wide eyed, transfixed expression, the rising fear in the psychic's voice as she describes it, the revealing of the sketch and finding nothing there when the lights come on was absolute perfection.

My main question in regards to A Quiet Place, why wouldn't you spend a majority of your time inventing auditory based mechanics that either drive the Death Angels away, or that causes them sensitivity issues? Have something make a lot of noise across several frequencies, they come to attack it (because that's how they roll,) and that wide frequency of loud noise drives them deaf.

Pretty simple answer to that question. He never thought about it, which is actually realistic in this scenario. Your wife is pregnant and is soon due(which means a LOT of noise), your youngest son recently got decimated in front of you(Leads to immense amount of guilt), and one of your other children has hearing problems(leads to all kinds of problems. You really think the father could have thought about finding out a way to disable or otherwise kill the death angels when he had all of that to worry about?
@CourierSixGaming
@CourierSixGaming Жыл бұрын
@@the_furry_inside_your_walls639 They hunt by noise, something he was aware enough to know where they don't hunt, as noisier areas basically render them blind. While they can make it so that they can detect prey in louder environments, it renders them extremely vulnerable, as they have to strain to hear. This not only renders them physically vulnerable, what do you think would happen if they were turning their hearing sensitivity all the way up, and someone tossed a firecracker at it? While they had some serious measures taken to dampen noise, you might need to figure out how to fight in order to protect the people you're working hard for.

It was a great film, but given that the monsters apparently can't swim and drown, I'm surprised the military or even civilians didn't set up loudspeakers off shore to lure them into the sea or over cliffs so they'd all drown. Assuming they don't procreate, it wouldn't take long to kill them all off.

I don't know if it is The Scariest, but it is among the most imaginative and unforgettable monsters ever put to the screen. That movie is a masterpiece, and I can't wait until my daughter is old enough that I can show it to her. For another del Toro gem, but much less appreciated, check out The Devil's Backbone.

I appreciate the little ways in which the Entity is shown. There's one scene that stands out where one of the paranormal researchers takes a photo of the electrical currents, and they form into the silhouette of a person. Freaky stuff! A similar effect was used in The Night House to its fullest potential, I'd say!

I loved Lamb but in my opinion they actually showed too much of the “ram man” when he shows up to shoot the man. The fx of the creature would have been more effective if he had been more shadowy or they didn’t show so much of him. Just my opinion. Doesn’t ruin the movie or anything I just think it could’ve been done better

That's a gremlin: "A gremlin is a mischievous folkloric creature invented at the beginning of the 20th century to originally explain malfunctions in aircraft, and later in other machinery, processes, and their operators. Depictions of these creatures vary widely. Stories about them and references to them as the causes of especially inexplicable technical and mental problems of pilots were especially popular during and after World War II."
