If I'm not mistaken from what other videos have stated Monica in Doki Doki Literature Club is not an option for you to romance and that is why she starts messing with things, she's not happy that the game isn't letting her be a choice, so she ends up making it so she is the only choice.

In "I Have No Mouth", Harlan Ellison worked with the developers to build the "good" ending where the player actually beats AM (pronounced "am" as in "I think, therefore I am") and he has gone on record to say he prefers it to his literary ending.

Actually, future games in the Legacy of Kain series showed that Kain sacrificing himself for Nosgoth would have been the bad ending. It would have completed the destruction of the pillars and the genocide of the vampire race. Soul Reaver 2 shows that not all vampires are evil, and the directors stated that the collapse of the pillars at the end of Blood Omen was caused by many factors, not just Kain's refusal to kill himself. Kain's actions in Soul Reaver were a gambit to get Raziel into becoming a being that could defy fate. The real villain of Legacy of Kain is the Elder God.

In Silent Hill 2, I did find the "In Water" ending to be the most satisfying. Which feels weird to say seeing how bleak it is, but that is kind of the point. It is the most emotionally driven ending and has an understandable sense of realism to it. Can you live with killing the one you love most? Regardless of what answer you give to that question, you can at least understand James' actions. Guilt is a powerful emotion that can destroy a man if they aren't careful.

@@-RickySpanish- Yes. In each of the three 'regular' timelines, you get a 'main' deity to kill another 'main' deity. Once every 'main' deity has been kill in 'his' or 'her' timeline, the fourth deity (the weak flesh deity) merges those three 'main' realities, to create a 'new reality' in which his three rivals have already been killed by each other - thus being the last deity standing. Also, he's not part of the regular 'rock/paper/scissors' mechanics that made each 'regular' deity stronger than one 'main' rival and weaker than the other 'main' rival. The flesh deity no longer has any rival or serious threat.

Damn, yea, metro’s canon ending is a real real bummer. Super sad, considering I had done all I could to have all the conversations, get NPCs their items, and to get all the good “karma” points. You can basically still screw it up RIGHT at the ending. Lol

Here's a depressing true ending for you: SOS Final Escape, aka Disaster Report 1. Through the game, your choices can lead to different results. Do you leave your friends behind? Do you go with Karen or Kelly? And do you actually bother to interact with them? A commonly missed option was to talk, feed, and shelter the girls you were with. Now, most players likely stuck with Karen given that was the first person you met and just leaving her felt wrong. In the normal ending, you and whoever you were with get to the top of the last building in the city and are rescued JUST in time. Now, if you've read this far, I'm assuming you're fine with spoilers, so get ready, folks. If you develop a close relationship with Karen or Kelly, you'll unlock a second ending. In this ending, NO rescue comes and you embrace as you slowly sink into the ocean below. Now, given Kelly is alive in all 3 future games, she's clearly not the canon. And Keith, your player character, is alive too, albeit with a limp. But Karen? Canonically, Karen dies as the building sinks into the water, Keith being crippled in the process. Keith was able to survive in the ocean, but Karen perished. Only a handful of information exists about Karen's fate, but it's out there if you look hard enough.

Drakengard actually did. Drakengard 2 is based on Ending A, where Nier is based on Ending E. The world basically ends in the other three, so they wouldn't make sense.

You could even say that... Joseph Saw. Farethere City has two true endings, both achieved by accomplishing the same two objectives, and you get to choose which one you go for. Before this choice, you learn that... ...everyone is dead, including the player character, and you're living in the hereafter (anagrams!). From here, you get to choose to be satisfied with this lot -- and get a nice extra day where you get to play around with playing as other characters, and end the game with the player character's parents visiting his grave -- or trying for rebirth, a process involving travelling the Path of Rebirth as his memories wash away and inns threaten to consume him if he stays too long, fates which are talked about if you visit the Path of Rebirth after learning how. Your last shot if of him travelling a scary section of the Path, with no assurance of success.

I would add in the PS1 game, Koudelka. The canon ending, leading to the following Shadow Hearts franchise is if you lose to the main boss in the final battle, the cut-scene starting off the path to Shadow Hearts.

is it me, or did Si only explain 2 of the 3 timelines in the zelda segment? Timeline 1: Link beats Ganondorf, gets sent back to relive his childhood - this leads to Majoras mask, and somehow also Wind waker? Timeline 2: Link fails to beat Ganondorf, leading to Hyrule falling to darkness leading to Link to the Past and the original legend of zelda So whats the third time line?

@@kodyplatt5693 That's the child timeline as well. The third is exactly as he said, he just didn't state it as another timeline. The adult timeline is what happens after Link is sent back to live out his childhood, and since there is no longer a hero in the timeline he was sent from Ganondorf eventually breaks free from his banishment and because there is no hero the people of the land prey to the Gods and they end up flooding Hyrule to stop Ganondorf, eventually a young boy who is named Link (probably named after the famous hero of time) ends up becoming the next hero even though he is not a reincarnation like pretty much every other Link in the series. He is just a boy trying to get his sister back and ends up dealing with something way bigger.

The Soul Reaver game on the Dream Cast is incredible, I never got to play the follow up though - the one on Game Cube had Kain as the main character & wasn't too bad

Two endings I thought of for this list: The bad ending in "Chrono Trigger," where you see the world end in 1999 A.D. if you battle Lavos at the end of the game and lose. The other is in "Batman: Arkham Knight," where, using the Bat-Mobile's Tank Mode, and aided by Oracle inside the GCPD, you have to fight off and take out a battalion of the Arkham Knight's militia. If you fail, a cutscene plays where some of the soldiers break into the GCPD building and blow everyone away.

You forgot about the OTHER ending in ocarina of time, navi rocks up to link gets "hey get up, the great deku tree wants a word with you" then links all "bugger off floating lightbulb" then stays in bed all day everything goes on as normal the end. Its the best ending because if link does nothing then gannon can't get the triforce & take over the world, & all because link DIDN'T OPEN THE DOOR OF TIME to facilitate this. If things happened as we know it to be i.e. link does the hero stuff, it actually MAKES LINK THE BAD GUY!

It doesn't make Link the bad guy, it makes you the bad guy. "Link" doesn't understand anything because he doesn't exist. Even if I pretend he could have any knowledge of the events of his own life before they happen, you can't just blame Link for the actions of others doing bad. If you follow the lore of tLOZ, Link exists because evil exists and their fates are intertwined. He's reincarnated over and over again when evil arises and sometimes evil wins. Is that what makes him the bad guy? Because his fate lead him to stop desolation in it's tracks? That he wasn't lazier? I'm going to be honest here, this is near entry level philosophy that you're applying to a fictional character and I've seen it argued so many times for various games and stories. Unicorns could flock in the sky, clouds could rain tacos, and my house could be made out of gold but my wants and thoughts make not a reality true.

The Metro series remains the best Apocalyptic horror shooter ever. The first time I played Metro Last Light, I was in a literal mental apocalypse.... thus my actions caused me to get the bad ending. Years later after a similar life devastating event, I played the Witcher 3 .... and I got the best ending ever... so at least there is some evidence of mental improvement as we gain XP in this world.

Shadow hearts and covenant had the best ending. 1 had a good and bad ending, and they're BOTH canon. 2 starts after 1's bad ending, then goes back in time with future knowledge to get 1's good ending.

lets not forget fallout and elder scrolls in fallout 2 theres a hiden event where you pass though a portal and teel a whaterchip. Fallout 2 is a direct descent of the protagonist of fallout 1 so you yet to be boren great grand child caused your vault to fail. And elder scrolls? Yeah no nof you are real. In the cosmology you can reach enlightment by discovering the ENRITE univers is just the dream of a space child called the God Head. If you can accept the fact that you are just the figment of a sleeping glactic enetity and everyong will just cease to exisit when the wake up you can achive chim and ascend but most who find this out Zero Sum and basically erase themself from reality unable to face the truth

Armored Core 4: For Answer. Three endings, none of them particularly great. One has you side with your corporate overlords and maintain the status quo so they can continue to exploit humanity and the Earth. The second has you side with the terrorists and destroy the corporate structure but trap humanity between dying with the planet or an uncertain future attempting to colonise the stars. And then there's the third ending. Towards the end of the Terrorists run you have the option to splinter off with an extremist, which results in the deaths of millions of civilians, and whether you survive the repercussions or not, dooms humanity to a slow death fighting amongst itself over scraps on a world no longer capable of supporting human life. Essentially making YOU humanities extinction event. 😅 Grim.

Making up a timeline where the hero dies in one game is incredibly stupid, especially if there's no ending credit that confirms that ending is canon. That's like having a timeline were Link couldn't find one of the keys in the Water temple and just gave up.

I think it was more or less Nintendo just being like "fine here is where each game lies chronologically," they never wanted the games to actually be part of "timelines" they just want the players to enjoy them as their own entries basically. So the timeline placements reluctant ones.

I prefer to think of it as the "Ganon wins" timeline. Instead of Link being defeated, he just never showed up. Zelda sent back to before he pulled the Master Sword (Zelda was still in the castle), so he never opened the Sacred Realm. The adult timeline still happened in one instance, but now there is no Link to show up to save the day, creating the third timeline.
