As a collector I disagree with the negative of commissions. There is no reason having a piece of art commissioned need to stifle your creativity as an artist. All the classical greats used to work from commissions, but with a broad remit to make wider creative decisions. As a client this is how i love to purchase art. Give an artist a rough subject guide, size and budget, then let them work. If this method is good enough for Michelangelo it is good enough for me.

This has been my favorite type of art to create. The creative freedom is incredible and at the same time allows for anyone to buy in, as long as the commission is based on a standard rate. My paintings are floral, colorful, objective-abstract, acrylic paintings. I love it when my clients invite me to their gardens for inspiration, yet pay half in advance without seeing a single sketch. It’s very surreal and magical. wish I got them more often.

I'll give you the main ones without having to watch the video 1. Be rich 2. Have connections

Both achievable actually.

@@SkywalkerPaul Realistically and statistically is not that simple: The global landscape of wealth and income inequality is stark. According to the World Inequality Report 2022, the richest 10% of the global population earns 52% of global income, while the poorest half earns just 8%. In terms of wealth, the richest 10% owns 76% of the world's wealth, while the poorest half owns only 2%

Still, I would advise watching the video and other videos on this channel. It is not all about being rich. Connections are important, but this is something we can work on.

@@contemporaryartissue Of course! I know there was effort put into the creation of the video and it deserves to be seen. I would have liked a bit more insight on how truly the socioeconimcal aspect really affects the art market and how it makes it easier for some and harder for others to become successful.

A lot of unknown artists are taking to KZbin and other streaming services and other Free ways to advertise or to sell or get their art to the publics eye. Rule number one don't rush it. Don't look too desperate to sell your work.

Artists who disabuse themselves of the need to make money from art work are way ahead of the game. Go to school and get a skill that will support you and your work. I may be very avant garde in my thinking but art and money are two totally different things.

It is absolute opposite of factual judging at the very least by the fact that every artist that makes art, wants and does buy art from others. That means the ratio is at the very modest unreal and minimal estimation is 1:1. But in reality there are way more people who buy art while making none than there are artists

Thank you Julien… and family. It seems one other occasion is through an artist opportunity. These call for works competitions that provide a reward. Often it is linked to a theme… a hybrid of having a ‘show theme’ and a commission (only with potential payment). I refer mainly to those on artenda… after some experience interesting… however potentially dilute one’s work….? Can you enlighten this realm a little please? Any to watch for … many to avoid? On the other hand… does it dilute one’s respect in the Art world working in illustration or design… as work to support a proper art practice? Good work. Now it’s a rainy summer season in ☀️Mexico. Sincerely Janet

Hi Janet, thank you for tuning in, as always. Yes, art opportunities is another way to earn money as an artist and perhaps also sell work. We have done a couple of videos on Artenda including one with the most essential tips and tricks. Feel free to watch that one next! Concerning the combination of art with illustration and design; as long as both careers are clearly separated, then you are all right. Sunny regards from Belgium!

Elena you have a really bad attitude and are a real know-it-all. Like most know-it-alls, you also seem insecure and poorly informed. If you don’t like something, do what normal people do and *move on*. No one is making you watch this or appreciate “crap”. Who tf are you to decide what’s crap? Art is the epitome of subjective, dear. Where are you showing? I’m sure we’d all love to see it.
