Good day, dear friends, Paul with you again and you are back on the channel "PaulStrikerENG". Enjoy watching ;)
============================================
Weight cutting is the practice of fast weight loss prior to a sporting competition. It most frequently happens in order to qualify for a lower weight class (usually in combat sports or rowing, where weight is a significant advantage) or in sports where it is advantageous to weigh as little as possible (most notably equestrian sports). There are two types of weight cutting: one method is to lose weight in the form of fat and muscle in the weeks prior to an event; the other is to lose weight in the form of water in the final days before competition. Common methods to cut weight include restricting food intake, water-loading, and perspiration through exercise, wearing a sweatsuit, and/or sitting in a sauna.

When I was fighting I walked around about 205 and cut to 185. I never cut last minute, and my diet was always on point. Still, the cutting sucked. I couldn't imagine having cut to 170 or God forbid 155. That's absolutely insane.

Fighting noob here. Why don't they just fight at their natural weight? Is someone forcing them to cut?
@LibertyJefferson
@LibertyJefferson Жыл бұрын
@@patbaker2199 No Sir. It's just a matter of wanting to either be the bigger guy, or at the very least not giving up a significant size advantage on the day of the fight. There's no way of knowing for certain if an opponent is cutting to make weight at the lower levels where I was at, but it's just generally assumed everyone is. So, if I'm walking around at the light-heavyweight cutoff of 205, and I can safely assume almost everyone I could potentially face is cutting to make that weight, it would be within my interests to cut to 185... Largely a carryover from wrestling.

It is my opinion that weigh in should always be 1 hrs before the fight. You should have to fight at weight in the condition you are in. I believe fighting would be far more interesting when the guys fighting at 155 actually walk around at 155. I don't think a dramatic weight cut then a dramatic rehydration leads to the best performance. If you can get down to 155 and compete directly that's legit. If you get down to 155 rehydrate for a day then fight actually weighing 170. That's ruining your health in order to exploit a loop hole

@Justin Carreras that's funny because you could get hit in the head and die in any fight .but if naturally weigh 170 and you cut 15 lbs in order to have an advantage, then you chose to fight while being dehydrated, That would be a stupid decision and you deserve to get hit in the head for trying to exploit when your supposed to train and e ready to defend yourself at all times

I feel like they should step off the scale and immediately into the cage. That might cause a lot of people to move up and stop cheesing the system by gaining 20 pounds overnight. Insane that people will walk into the weigh-ins at their actual weight for their weight class and the very next day they're 2 weight classes above.

A lot of fighters owe some of their success to fighting at weight classes below their walking weight. It's a huge advantage if you can pull it off, bc of your natural size and rehydrated weight. There's also the reverse where guys who naturally would be at the low end of a weight class have to deal with fighters who are at the higher end or ones who should be in higher weight classes cutting down to them. McGregor for instance was less successful the higher the weight class he went into, even if he naturally should be those weights, bc his long reach and power were less impactful against bigger opponents.
