I live by the foot of the 59th Street Bridge. I have lost track of how many times a couple has asked me to take the iconic bridge/bench silhouette photo for them.

The funniest parody of the opening is the opening of the Jon Lovitz animated TV series, "The Critic." It was perfect!

This film was not "written and directed by Woody Allen," it was directed by Allen, and co-written by Allen and Marshall Brickman. It's by far my favorite "Woody Allen" movie, much better than anything he wrote by himself.

As for favorites, Manhattan is tied with Stardust Memories - which could be said to have been written by Allen and Frederico Fellini.

"Manhattan" is certainly a masterpiece, and you are correct that Allen and Brickman should both get credit (their first writing collaboration since "Annie Hall" 2 years prior). However, to say Woody Allen hasn't written as good a screenplay by himself is a stretch. "Crimes and Misdemeanors" and "Hannah and Her Sisters" are certainly on par with "Manhattan" (if not better). "Midnight in Paris," "Match Point," "Zelig," "Blue Jasmine" and "Bullets Over Broadway" are also contenders, in my opinion.

If I'm not mistaken, this was the first time a daughter of John Farrow and Maureen O'Sullivan played in a Woody Allen film. This was Tisa, in a short bit in the party scene. Later he would hire Mia and Stephanie.

You might have included the running scene at the end which has been copied by virtually every romantic comedy since.

Not to mention Curb Your Enthusiasm. Then again, Larry David is always thieving off Woody.

Woody Allen himself stole the running scene from Billy Wilder’s the Apartment. In that case it was Shirley McLaine running to meet Jack Lemmon.

I was bothered by expecting to see Tony Roberts in the Woody Allen movie but instead it was Michael Murphy who looked kind of like Roberts.

Another thing you could have put in was that Meryl Streep hated working with Woody Allen and he's one of the very few directors she said she would never work with again.

@@jgrab1 well it could be his method, P.Sarsgaard was telling almoust same abt his role in Blue Jasmine, Allen gave him 3 pages , like do this n that and dont bother abt big picture. It's kind of conducting big symphonic orchestra style. Woody is a good musician too😉
