Didn‘t the creators of Wolverine specificly made him small because of his Name? I think they made him small because actual Wolverine‘s are also small animals that are actually able to fight off Bears, just like Logan. Logan fights off much larger enemies all the time.

Wolverine was named "Wolverine" because his original concept was that he was a literal mutant wolverine. Like how human-mutants have animal characteristics, this wolverine would have had human characteristics. They obviously scrapped that concept but the name stuck.

That's just not true, he was never intended to be a mutated wolverine.

@@weebee87 it was the first draft of him, I forget why the scrapped it however. Yes,not only his height but also his claws are inspired from the wolverine and even his healing factor is inspired from the animal kingdom.There's the Honey Badger,who's related to the arctic Wolverine,that can survive snake venom.That little fucker,hunts poisonous snakes,like the Black Mamba or Cobras and has developed an immunity to their venom.When bitten,by a Mamba or Cobra,the venom only temporaly stuns it and it looks like if the Honey Badger ''healed'' himself.There's footage of a Honey Badger,fighting a Cobra,getting bitten,just getting a little bit dizzy,getting right back up and then finishing of the snake and eating it! Keep in mind,Cobra poison can kill a grown man,in couple of minutes. The Honey Bagder is also imune against African ''Killer Bees'',who's venom can be deadly to humans. That's how they got the idea,of giving Logan a ''healing factor''.
@raypalomarez6 жыл бұрын
Although we now know that Wolverine’s claws are actually part of his bone structure (and that he has always had them), they weren’t intended that way from the start. In fact, his original creators Len Wein (writer) and John Romita (artist) intended for them to be part of his suit when he was first conceived in the 1970s. In early drawings, his claws are drawn to appear to be coming out of his gloves. They also extend from his wrists, rather than between his knuckles, which makes less sense from an anatomical perspective. On top of all that, several storylines backed up the idea that the claws were not a part of his mutant abilities.
@MorinehtarTheBlue6 жыл бұрын
Both the Weapon X being the source or it being part of his mutant powers have serious scientific flaws when you examine them. The wrist thing for example is to get around the fact that the claws are larger than his hands could possibly contain. Unextended they are actually in his forearms. Or how the Weapon X origin had it as a side effect of the adamantium bonding process but begs the question of where all those muscles used to move those blades came from? That would have to be a spontaneous biological mutation which really isn't how the X-Gene works.

Look, the bone claws may be retcon, but it explains better how he is able to use the claws when not in costume. And I also have the Amalgam/DC versus Marvel series where Wolverine fought Lobo (in a tavern, of course). It's illogical - how can he age if he has instant healing? Instant healing basically means his cells can be divided infinitely and as we know, aging is primarily caused because we as a humans have limited amounts of cell divisions. Instant healing like in Wolverine case basically means no aging. And moreover it's already found in nature! There are organisms which do not age (sic!) like immortal jellyfish. Aging is not basic nature rule for every living things. Only human perceive it that way. Of course having infinite amounts of cell divisions doesn't mean You can't be killed. It only means You can't die through natural events like aging. In last Wolverine movie he died because they (quote) "put some poison inside him which greatly nullified his healing ability" and maybe caused him to aging.
@IamnotJohnFord6 жыл бұрын
His healing is not instantaneous. He ages...albeit very, very slowly. Also, the adamantium in his body is a poison. His healing factor is always fighting that poison. Thereby, he ages. Wolverine could live for hundreds of years. But, he will eventually die from old age if he isn't killed outright.
@PanicbyExample6 жыл бұрын
shouldn't nature also be so infinite as to have less regenerative biotics than in immortal species?
@arth82656 жыл бұрын
They've only pointed in last movie that adamantium is poisonous for him. In previous Wolverine movie when they infuse his bones with adamantium they've said only adamantium bullet can kill him which is quite instant healing for me. Originally, they've put adamantium inside him to make him even stronger and quite indestructible. Moreover, later they said that even adamantium bullet is not enough to kill him, only can cause amnesia and temporary make him like in coma. Also, resistant to extreme weather is kinda proof of his instant healing ability. You know, in extreme weather ( like sub 0 ) fluids inside Your body will immediately crystalize basically killing You like millions of microscopic knives. You need to heal faster then those crystals tearing Your tissues. His ability of instant healing was shown multiple times in many situations like when he was walking towards Phoenix in Last Stand movie or when he shield this japan folk during explosion of atom bomb. Another example is movie Past of Future Days when Professor X literally said only Wolverine can be transfer back that long ago in time because of his *instant healing* ability. He said something like this: "he will heal instantly even when his body and mind will completely tear apart". Then he add that he basically no aging so it'll be no difference between him and his "younger" self in past. At the end of the movie, he was thrown into lake (? don't remember exactly) and also survived after going at the bottom. Quite many times they were pointing out about his instant healing ability. Of course not literally instant, but fast enough to be perceive it that way. I guess those adamantium poison theory was just last movie excuse to kill him. You can't really be poisoned by any heavy metal with this kind of healing ability he showed earlier. As I've said: aging is basically process of "wearing out" the body by physical forces which interact with it plus genetics which is programmed cells death after certain amounts of it's division in human case. It's theoreticaly possible to overcome those genetic limitation of humans if scientists find the part of our genetic code which is responsible for this limited cell divisions. It's not "default nature mode" to age, so I don't see a reason why mutants like X-Mens should be also in every case affected by this process like humans. After all, they are very advanced mutated humans. You can say, even different species of its own.
@arth82656 жыл бұрын
I just try to analyze it with consistent logic. I guess, authors of comics don't need to follow any logical rules. They might create him the way they want him to be - even if his feats denies what they say.
@octosoufre6 жыл бұрын
@@arth8265 Hi, Scientist speaking here. We actually know what causes cell to stop multiplication, it's the fact that a small portion of DNA is not replicated at every cell division. The missing portion gets smaller and smaller and some day it stops replication. I believe Wolverine's healing powers have nothing to do with this. He just heals very fast. His long life is the result of being able to replace damaged cells quickly, but the process isn't without fail.

Related to his short height, there is another aspect of him that everyone, including the comics writers and those who created his character got wrong from the beginning and it's something that I've never seen anyone even mention. The length of his claws. There is no way a man who is 5'3" tall can have 1 foot long forearms which is how long they say his claws are. His claws can only be as long as his forearms are as that's where they are being kept. And a 5'3" man can never have such long forearms. I'm 5'7" and my forearms are about 25 cm long which is about 2 inches shorter than a foot. So there's absolutely no way Wolverine's claws can be 1 foot long. They could be somewhere between 15-20 cm which is somewhere between 5.90 - 7.87 inches. But since he is 5'3" tall, his claws cannot be 1 foot long. It's physically impossible.

One of my favorite skits with the "Trio" Wolverine, Nightcrawler, and Colossus were in a bar drinking after secret wars and colossus was whining about how he was still feeling the affections of the girl from that plane and didn't know what to do about kitty pryde. Then juggernaut starts beating the hell out of colossus and Wolverine just watches as he keeps drinking. And afterwards tells him to get over it.

Telepathic resistance comes from his adamantium infused skull surrounding his brain, not from mutant power directly (although his healing factor allowed said skull to be infused with said adamantium...I.E. indirectly).

All these people showed up for cap in end game and Logan was just chillin just watching all this shit going down.

This list is dumb. It's not "everyone always gets wrong", it's "people who don't know a thing about Wolverine always gets wrong".

That pic with Magneto tearing out Wolverine's adamantium DIDN'T kill him. He survived.

I think most of these commenters misunderstood the format of the video. This video is clearly done fairly accurately. When you actually understand the format.

I had to pause the video at 1:38 just so I could see what I thought I saw. Mr. Spock and Wolverine?!?!? Lol

Recently Laura's origin was retconned and she is no longer the clone of wolverine but her actual biological daughter, during The Search for Wolverine mini series it was discovered that she has both Logans and Sarah Kinney DNA
@aluthehungryghost84745 жыл бұрын
Not really a retcon then. It was always known that Sarah was impregnated with Laura, just not specifically mentioned it was Wolverines sperm they used, but some magic bazingo containing his X - chromosomes. The term clone was specifically used to outline the artificial part of Laura’s conception.
@Agel1ic5 жыл бұрын
@@aluthehungryghost8474 in real life cloning (yes, cloning is real), the clone is not born from a tube or something, is born from a surrogate mother, but it only carries the DNA of the "father", so to speak. Originally Laura was supposed to have being born that way using Logan's X chromosome. The retcon is that Sarah did use Logan's genetic material (not sperm) to fertilice one of her eggs, but kept her genetic material.

Thomas Logan is not the biological father of Wolverine. This is shown in the same comic when it’s shown that Jame’s grandfather also has retractable claws he peeks out of his skin when he instructs whatsherface to leave with his grandson.

The bone claws were a comic book retcon. Originally they were implanted at the same ti.e he got his adamantium bones.

I guess this top 10 is for people who just watched the movies? I’m not really even a Wolverine fan and I knew almost all of these. Also, a few redundancies; not just the one you mentioned that absolutely does count.

Fact 11 . His claws come out from the top of his hand . Not between his knuckles like the movies portray.

Funny thing, the second Muramasa blade cuts between molecules just like any sword does in the hands of Silver Samurai through his mutant power, He's also wielding the first Muramasa blade and gave the second one to Wolverine!

Wolverine isn't short, since he was born so long ago when it was normal to be his height, and that brings up another thing is wolverine watched how humans changed over the years and how they affect everything around them but he actually got to watch it so i would say he knows us better than we know him but he is fictional
@81giorikas4 жыл бұрын
I am not sure that thomas logan was his biological father. It is implied but remember he also had a grandfather, howlett that looked like him from his father's (by law) side.

On the point that he feels the same pain threshold like everyone else.. simply not likely. As doctors will point out in dealing with people who have chronic pain conditions.. there's always a new 10. What seemed like the worst possible is replaced by something worse and in that perspective the old levels are more tolerable.
@aliengranpa5 жыл бұрын
His bone claws weren't added until later..for that matter his claws were originally meant to just be part of his gloves until they decided to make him a mutant. You should get facts from someone that isn't a millennial.

Not being able to die is not one of his powers. It's Marvel company disrespecting their fans. When a characters dies, LET THEM DIE. DO NOT resurrect him like a billion times. Create a new character and stop recycling the same ones for decades.
