your finnish version of the english spoken language was super hilarious! plus, I feel what you are saying when someone who's monolingual (english native speakers) tells you they don't like your english. they should try being bilingual and knowing more than 50% of the words a monolingual person knows (plus all other rules like grammar, syntax, culture, etc). by the way, I'm a spanish native speaker. Your acidic sense of humour is the best haha, moikka!

Hi. Thanks a lot for the video, which is quite accurate as it shows how people are ignorant, despite attending school for so many years. As far as accent: your English is absolutely clear. In addition, everyone, even in the USA has an accent and some people also a nasty one. My mother keeps on saying that in America people haven't spoken English for decades. LOL. Although I have never travelled to Finland, I know that it has for distinct and beautiful seasons, despite winter being the longest: people that love nature, would surely appreciate the beauty of Finland. I am convinced that we can learn a lot from Finnish people, in the first place to be quiet and most of all silent (I cannot stand small talk as well, so I must have some Finnish blood LOL). Many thanks again for posting.

I recently discovered thru DNA test that my Lithuanian Grandfather's Family came from the Southwest coast of Finland during the 1300's. Id always love the cold, silence & personal space (also eating lunch at work alone). I get easily irritated when people gets to nosey or close, specially at 6am work meetings to start the day & not even finished my coffee or want me to do a "cheer" to have "positive attitude " (please somebody take me away, please?)

@finntasticbeast7 жыл бұрын
Hi! That's a good question! Maybe expect a lot of silences at first and that you might have to be the first person to initiate a conversation. If you're studying I'd imagine it's a lot easier to get to know people and socialise. Finland is one of the safest countries in the world so I wouldn't worry about that. Hopefully that was helpful! :)

There's always some racists in what ever country one goes to. In Finland people have most prejudices against black and islamic (Semitic appearing) people, much "thanks" to the media hysteria about islamic extremism and a refugee wave from Somalia that got criticized a lot back then when it happened. East-Asian people are pretty well received and there hasn't been waves of refugees (which often creates these racist sentiments) and East-Asian people aren't considered religiously intolerant or zealous either. Fortunately, there is very seldom anything violent, nor racism from the authorities either. Maybe one might hear some nasty words occasionally, or an unwelcoming look. Finland has very homogenetic population, and if you come from a far away country, you might be easily spotted. In larger cities like Helsinki, Turku and Tampere there's quite a lot of foreiners, and also in some university cities like Jyväskylä, and people are more used to see foreigners. In rural areas people see less foreigners, so prepare get more noticed there. Welcome, hope you like your visit!

It seems like you are ashamed of typical Finnish accent or even English speaking skills of Finns but I find "rallienglanti" really damn entertaining to listen to :D This kind of accent fits perfect for Finnish people imo because it sounds kind of harsh, especially with that vibrating "r". And most of the people think (at least here in Poland) that Finns are like harsh, tough, resistant to everything people, but in a good way. The way how Juha Kankkunen, Kimi Raikkonen or Lauri from Hydraulic Press Channel are speaking always makes my day, cannot imagine different accent for them, especially kind of soft, buttery-like American.

Rally English isn't Finnish accent. Rally English is disregard of pronounciation, but accent is what you have even when trying to pronounce perfectly. It's just nearly impossible to get rid of your native sounds (no matter what your native language is). People who emigrate and learn the foreign language fluently, still maintain native sounds and tone in their speech. Recognizing Finnish accent does not mean that you would speak bad English (nor totally lack the pronounciation effort = rally English).
