What are some items you are NOT falling for in 2025?!? Comment below! ❤

I think sheer blouses with a cami look nice but not on me and the thought of a sheer skirt feels too delicate. One thing I never get on with is lip oils, I much prefer a balm, Jo Malone Vitamin E is the best lip balm ever. No to plain black skinny denim either, I prefer coated even if it isn’t super on trend. My rules are, if I wouldn’t purchase it at full price, irrespective of any cost, don’t bother and I only purchase what I need, love or if I can’t stop thinking about it, several weeks later, get it.

I don’t look good in most pastels, but light pink makes me look like I belong in a coffin. I am NOT buying any more clothes from Amazon. None. Done. They always are off in some way. Colors are off, buttons are weird looking, lengths are bad, seams and knits are off, fabric is thin, prints are flat, polyesters pill, etc. One expensive piece is so much more timeless and wearable than five cheap tacky pieces.

Excellent video. I am no longer buying anything from Talbots. There is an influencer whose philosophy I like but she often showcases Talbots.--a brand promoted for women my age. I recently went through my closet and donated or threw out anything that did not look amazing on me--ah,everything from Talbots! Their fit is bad, the fabrics are cheap. I use to look at their catalogs for inspiration but no longer. Alas, I have had to add Banana Republic to my do not buy list. The quality of their merchandise has taken a dive. So now I buy fewer things (after shopping my closet first) and only quality items. I particularly like Sezanne. Anna, you are young and modern and hip, but your advice works for me--a stylish woman of 76! Thank you.
@cellgrrlАй бұрын
I am the same age. I recall Talbot's being a quality brand but designed for people who need larger sizes or for a more serious style, older women maybe and career. It was not particularly trendy but quality. It is sad that everything is shipped overseas (you know the place) to be made cheaply. But I would have thought at least the fabric would still be quality. Everyone is cutting corners.

In my 20s I made a strapless gown customized to my shape, but I was in my 20s and did not require a highly structured bra. Since I have not been able to find the right bra, strapless is OUT. I saw a PBS program on Princess Diana's clothing archive, and I was amazed at how much structural support is hand sewn into a true haute couture gown. Those dresses held themselves up, had perfect posture and I would not be surprised if they could dance too. At 67, I'd like to learn some sewing tricks so I could dress like Helen Miram or Meryl Streep. Until then, Diane Keaton is a good role model. And I agree with all your other observations. I am guilty of final sale shopping online.

I would give the same advice for vitamins that you gave for skin care. Do you need 75 vitamins a day? Have you been tested for deficiencies? Before adding anything like that to a daily regimen, I would recommend getting tested and finding out what your specific body needs. For example, I'm vegan, so I need to supplement B12. I live in the Midwest, so I dont get enough vitamin D in the winter. That kind of thing. Love your videos!

I'm with you on no more buying items that are final sale. I bought a gorgeous Sweaty Betty Matterhorn Parka, and I saw it on a friend and had to have it. Well, I found it online, final sale. Got it, and was so disappointed that it was way too big on me. It's up on Poshmark, and if it doesn't sell, it won't go for nearly what I paid for it. I caved and bought the Miss Dior butterfly small handbag for my daughter's wedding next May. Now I have to make sure that I find a dress that matches. Talk about doing things backward. No strapless dresses for me. I hate them. I'm petite, but a 34D. I hate the garments that you have to wear under the dress, and then I still worry that the dress isn't going to stay put. I think I’m going to be more mindful of how things fit on me to not give into impulse purchases. I’ve noticed that when things fit me crappy in the shoulders I end up regretting it. I am petite with very tiny shoulders despite my almost plus size and I can’t wait for this sweaters that are loose on the shoulders trend to go fade into galloping into the sunset, never to be seen for decades after this. I recently noticed which designs fit me better and consciencely sought out stuff that fit my measurements better that looked more well made (since stores famously are great about stocking petite sizes in person /s). And I managed to get a few sweaters that fit me really nicely that seem like they have good quality of make.

Pink has been in since the Barbie boom - and I LOVE IT bc I have always loved y2k princess kind of styles! So will continue to buy 😂 But I still think it’s good for people to avoid trends and stick to building their own wardrobe. It makes it really easy to avoid impulse buying if it’s anything that doesn’t match my exact preferred shades.

I look for items that have a lot of 4* review. A big red flag for me is the reviews that are divided between 5* and 1* / 2*. News flash: the 5* reviews there are paid.

I am not buying every single color of the same tops anymore that I find & really love. 2 colors max! 💕 & keeping all the ' just in case ' clothes.

A big no is gold plated earrings and necklaces, it’s just not the same as the real thing. Also, no sheer for me! Final sales are a no, or at least a waning sign for me! I have to have either tried the item on before or don’t mind keeping it regardless.

No strapless, no sheer, no to colors that I know don’t work for me (like anything with yellow or red - wine red is good, no real red).

Crop tops. I recently wanted to find some cute athletic outfits to wear to the gym for strength training. Pretty much all you can find now are crop tops with leggings or super baggy shirts/sweatshirts. I have a petite upper body and like to have my tops be somewhat form fitting so I opted for some crop tops. I’m a 38 year old mom of two and when I wore one of those outfits to the gym I felt incredibly uncomfortable. I think I left behind the days of crop tops in my 20’s. Now I’m back to the drawing board for exercise apparel.

I don’t think any pieces I’ve ever purchased have worn out. I’m 61. Including fast fashion. My taste may change but never ever had any quality issues with any brand. My $50 jeans have lasted decades. No reason to pay more.

Nothing will change for me in this regard in 2025. I changed my shopping habits several years ago. At 59, I know what I like and what looks good on me. I quit buying synthetics, although I will consider a blend as long as the natural fiber is greater than the synthetic (i.e, pants). I mostly wear cotton, organic cotton, linen and wool. Every season, I make a list of what I NEED in my wardrobe. I watch a lot of fashion videos which helps me create my list. I stick to the list. I rarely look at sales racks. It's mostly stuff no one wants nor would pay full price for. I would much rather pay a higher price on something I want and will get a lot of wear out of it. I get what I want at the beginning of the season twice a year (spring/summer and fall/winter). This ensures I get the size and color I want as my clothing size (8-10/M) seems to always be the first size sold out. I only wear comfortable clothes so no strapless. I put a lot of thought into my wardrobe so I now buy a lot less. I really look at fabric and how the item is made. My wardrobe is smaller these days and everything goes together. I don't buy anything that is super trendy. I actually really like blush pink. I am blonde and fair skinned but in the summer with a tan, I think the color looks great on me. As for skin care, I quit all that stuff years ago. I use castor oil, coconut oil and beef tallow for my skin care. Occasionally I will make a salt or sugar scrub in my kitchen if my skin needs exfoliation. My skin looks great and I am saving a ton of money.

No more cardigans for me…..I bought so many cute ones in the last 18 months because I am always either hot or cold and found them easier to put on/take off than pullovers 😉

i’m not buying anything that’s not a natural fabric. Polyester is often cheap and once it’s laundered looks like it’s decades old.

It's so hard to resist some of the online discounts but agree likely something not that useful or something is off with the item. I have found some great deals and loved them...but have to STOP I have waaaay too many clothes now 😮 time to wear what I have and shop my wardrobe 😅

Agreed on not buying dupes when you actually want the real thing. I do agree with dupes however if you're not sure yet if a particular thing will work for you. A new bag for example. A good dupe lets you try it out in real life situations so you can be sure it would be a good investment to make. Those can be expensive mistakes.
@giedrebey5444Ай бұрын
Great list Anna. I hope that you will follow 😉 lol . I don’t even know what is on my not buying list🤔 Since I am still buying old Celine archives pieces, as I find reasonable deals. But I definitely not buying dupes. I don’t buy much dupes, but I purchased recently dupe from fait full the brand for Old Celine corset style dress that had in black, white, and in plaid . I have original one in plaid, so I saw on ig , girls who have original ones, were happy with the dupe one. It was sold out. I found only in white. But return it. Then finally got in black. Decided to keep, cause I have the most amazing alteration lady…. But it’s not as amazing dupe as it was claimed. Phoebe does proportions to perfection - you can see that it’s done exaggerated hips, and not your own double hips😂😝 The dupe just doesn’t give that look. The proportions are just not the same. Black is fixable easier… but I will still going to look for original. And no impulsive purchases… Have a blessed day🙏❤️

I am loving the videos and your approach. The one thing I am trying to not buy is shoes that hurt my feet. I have small feet, but wide toe box (no bunions yet!) and I struggle. I tried the viral Vivaia shoes and they were still too tight in the toes but my heel slipped. If I went larger as they suggested, I'm afraid I'd have blisters on the heel. If any followers out there can suggest a casual bootie that would be a size 6 wide toe let me know! LoL!

On my Indyx stylist’s recommendation, I literally *JUST* ordered a mesh/sheer top on clearance from a brand I’ve never heard of. 😂 I rarely add anything to my wardrobe… I hope the gamble works out.
