- Speed is rarely your friend. Chances are you will eithre roll your truck or your suspension will disintegrate on small rocks if you go too fast. - If it looks like a short cut it isnt. This game is designed to prey on your gaming instincts to go for shortcuts, 9 times out of 10 theyre hellish traps that take 3x as long as going the long way around. - Build your truck with how you want to fail in mind. For example If you lift your suspension you're less likely to get stuck but more likely to roll over. - There ls no wrong way to play.

Absolutely a TON of great tips here for newer or frustrated players. Couple thoughts …. Give every vehicle a chance eventually. The Tuz 166, briefly shown in the vid, is a great example. It’s a rockstar, especially with JAT tires equipped. It’s tempting to just recover to the garage after completing a task. Instead, leave that truck there. Odds are, it’ll soon be useful in a future task nearby. All upgrades are not created equal, and just because you can, it doesn’t mean you should. The Western Star 6900 Twinsteer is a lot more stable on 55” tires with the stock suspension than it is while Raised on 63” tires for instance. Same goes for the Scout 800; it’s a lot more stable on 35’s with the stock suspension. With the roof rack, and/or 39” tires equipped, she’s rather tippy. So experiment and figure out what works best for you.
@thegamingrat1

Those are definitely great tips. Personally, I prefer the 63"s on the TwinSteer, I do find the performance boost worth it for the tippiness. I need to try the Scout with smaller tires, that's one scout I really have been neglecting haha. Thanks for commenting!

With JAT mud tires, almost all Western Star 6900 stability issues disappear. So you can safely install a Raised suspension.

I would also add that some trucks/vehicles when equipped with the autonomous winch will find it lacks the power to pull you out of a tight spot where as the standard winch is more than capable. I've had this issue a few times and now only equip the AW when I know there is a high risk of stall trom tipping or being to deep in some water.

@@hal_dan that's crazy dude. I play the game how it's suppse to be played. I think I've recovered a truck maybe 3 times. ( getting wedged in trees like a dumbass trying to take a short cut ) and I always drive my trucks back to the garage when I'm done. And park all my trailers at the garage. I will pull my truck into the shop to fix it and upgrade it. I don't just recover my my truck .. it defeats the purpose of the game. So you don't upgrade your trucks ? I'm so confused. How do you upgrade your trucks if you don't go to the garage ? Lol

Another tip, enable fps limit to 60 and turn on V-sync. Somehow it will make gameplay smoother, and traction of trucks will rise. Sometimes is better to turn off AWD and drive only rear wheels it will not only safe fuel but also give advantage in power in steep uphills. Load distribution matter also, loaded truck will drive better offroad. Load distribution on trailers matter too as well size of the wheels. smaller diameter gives more power and better gearing for heavy loads.

I played this when it came out on game pass, and dropped it after a bit in favor of some other games. Got it again in the winter sale on steam and I'm already up to 150 hours! Definitely learned some stuff from this video! On topic of using every truck and giving them a chance, I've started following a comment I read when I picked the game back up. Have every truck dedicated to a loadout! It didn't make sense to me when I started out and $5000 was a lot of money to me, but since beating Michigan and having more money than I know what to do with it's how I play! I have a few trucks with low saddles, and some with flat beds. Then I have the CAT681 as a dedicated fuel truck, and the p12 is my crane truck! Recently made the WWS my repair truck as I don't use it as much for hauling. Not always the most efficient use of time/trucks but it's fun for me. Also fun leaving them in the world instead of recovering, as when you're doing missions you'll drive by and "Oh yeah! There's my Royal, forgot it was there!"

-When you clear a map, retrieve all the trailers you can and sell them before leaving (except in hard mode) -Don't recall a truck you have disabled/stuck if its tank is full. It can be used as a refuel point -In deep mud/snow, slower is better -Make multi truck convoy by winching another as often as possible (more cargo on one trip, extra traction in muddy/deep snow areas, one can rescue the other and vice versa) -Always look for the side missions that can repair roads, open shorctcuts or activate storage/factories before the main ones

I like preparing a bunch of contracts without tracking them and then recording what trucks I used in my notes so I know which truck is used for which contract. This allows time to take break from SR and come back to it later, then all I have to do is get the trucks from A-B. I don't like tracking everything at once due to OCD (lol). Sometimes I may prep until I'm out of trucks. This makes sure that all vehicles are being used. And depending on the pick up and delivery points I may just use one two slot flatbed and make multiple trips if the route is short. It's fun to play this way, because then I can see where highway trucks could be utilized. For rescue trucks, right now I have about six PLAD 450s with the multi-utility attachment. Three for each map if I'm working in with a two map region. The PLAD is a perfect application for its weight and strength to pull anything back on it's wheels. It's powerful enough to go anywhere and it's fuel efficient. The multi-utility attachment has repair points, fuel, and a crane so I don't need to put loading cranes on every truck. Aesthetically, loading cranes on old trucks don't look good imo (Tayga 6455B is the exception though). After a series of contracts is over I will do a full trailer and truck recoveries to clean things up so its nice and tidy for another big prep. As an extra step now after I scout the whole region hitting the watchtowers, I'll pull out the Burlak 6x6 or EarthRoamer SX and pull a radar trailer around to clear up all the black and grey. It's extra and totally not needed. But I enjoy it. Then I have fully cleared region to do all my prep.

@@kevinrobertshaw6479 the KHAN is absolute monster for scouting but it can't tow a trailer ! Unless I'm missing something of course. But I git k1500 upgraded too the nines and even it has trouble towing the furl scout trailer. I wish the trucks had bigger gas tanks. Atleast double the size. Only being able to drive to one side of the map on a tank of gas ( if your lucky ) is pretty rough. If I'm going for an upgrade or a watch tower I'll drag the scout trailer with me. Fuel up. Un hook. Find whatever. Then go back and grab the trailer.

Number 2 make some great points. Some older trucks are still very capable and fun to drive. the GMC with the later AWD upgrade is as good any other off-road truck. Step 310E may be a lighter and smaller truck but is very capable and comes with one of the better stock engine for it's class that gives you good power with a reduced fuel consumption compared to similar engines. It often surprises me how easy it is to kick it into H-gear with the Highway gearbox when hauling cargo. Also hauling long longs with the ZiKZ 5368 can be a fun challenge as well. Number 7 makes a good point about engines too (see previous comment about the Step) especially when it comes to scouts. You almost never have a power issue with scouts, it is almost a 100% a grip issue when trying to pull cargo or rescue other trucks. The best engine is usually the stock engine with some exceptions like the bigger, heavier F750. Some lighter scouts do have very weak engines but upgrading to the second engine is usually is enough. Also, if you want maximum range with a scout use the stock gearbox. the H-gear and extra L-gears of the Freeway and Snowrunner gearbox is nice but you also get a 40% and 80% AWD-penalty to fuel consumption when using those.
@thegamingrat1

Yeah, I feel like so many people just use 605r and 963 for missions. Especially in the later seasons the maps aren't so hard that they are required, it seems so much more fulfilling to use some more challenging trucks. Like you said, small trucks like ZikZ 5368 and TUZ Actaeon for example are a lot of fun. Absolutely. For scouts I always use Freeway gearbox. Otherwise they feel way too sluggish and boring to drive, there's just something exceptionally fun about flying along a dirt road in the little TUZ 166. Thank you for commenting, I enjoyed reading your reply :)

What was the final straw for me when I stopped playing was when you had to go to multiple places to get materials to make the item you need before you could transport it to its destination. It was frustrating how, despite it autosaving in the game you couldn't go back to it meaning if I got stuck or lost cargo (another frustration) then I couldn't go to an early start point. Speed of my truck (I tended to use the same one due to it being able to carry 400l of back up fuel, 2 cargo or trailer and 8 wheel drive) was painfully slow. In the end I stopped.

You will screw everything up the first time you play it , but thats every game. I always have a "recovery / fuel truck incase my "load truck" gets stuck or needs fuel. Using the winch to turn around with a trailer helps allot too. Those steer axles ! Don't forget UNHOOK YOUR TRAILER! if you are stuck or need to turn around and drag it the direction you need with the winch.

If you don’t like the game for its slow pace, get mods. Modded trucks, especially pickup trucks, often have the ability to be optioned with ridiculously overpowered engines, tires, damage points, repair points, and fuel points. For example, I got through Alaska using solely the Lime’s L400 mod. These mods make for funny moments, easier and less tedious gameplay, and an additional layer of gameplay the base game doesn’t give you. Additionally, these mods can be optioned to vanilla specs, essentially retaining base game difficulty while adding more cool trucks to your garage. I love the base game experience, but I myself could never get through the entire game without modded trucks. I simply don’t have the patience.
