Taking a very detailed breastfeeding course before birth is a must

The startle reflex is a trait that has baby reach out for mum quickly. It saves monkeys too so they don’t fall from the trees because the reflex has caused them to reach out for mum or even grip the branch.

I just learned that the peeling is from being in water (womb) for so long and then that top layer of skin comes off. And the acne is releasing all the extra hormones from mama in utero and bringing the hormones down to normal baby levels :-) taking a newborn course now in my third trimester ❤

I think so often breastfeeding issues can take parents very quickly away from it and it's so easy to abandon it. So many parents feel like they are not making enough, there's something wrong with them, etc. I think when parents have knowledge and seek help and so many don't know to do it or they think "oh it's me it's not working" when in reality there sometimes is a reason and it could be an easy fix! You learned and took the time to understand and I think that's SO key and so important!!! Good job mama!

My first was born 42 years ago, and when he lost weight in the first few days I panicked, but was too scared to ask the nurses, so I waited until visiting hours to ask my Mum, her reply was such a relief,

It's been soooo long since I was a new mom, I had forgotten about all that stuff, but so glad you did this video because it brought back memories of me going through the same thing and back then there were few books, no internet and doctors were all men and didn't really tell you much at all! This was all wonderful info and I am sure a lot of new and would be mom's are going to love having you share more info as time goes by! Cheers!

We referred to our son as our little humpback whale because in addition to the snorting/grunting, he would lift his little legs up inside his sleep sack and slam them down in his bassinet 😀 He started it around 2 months if I remember correctly and I read that it's fairly common especially as they start attempting to roll over. But it was SO loud! There was a point in his first month or two where he was losing his newborn hair, but only in one weirdly shaped patch. At that time he also had a little bit of baby acne, his eyes were crossing a lot, and he would get clogged tear ducts so he'd have a goopy eye. Not your best look, buddy! When you're in the thick of those early days it seems like time can drag on, especially when you're sleep deprived, but it really does all happen so fast. Our son just turned 4 and it seems like he was just born yesterday, it is such a wild ride!

I studied childcare and knew before giving birth about the moro-reflex, (didn’t know about the diapers though) and there are a few different ones, i would highly recommend any expecting mom to read about baby’s development especially the motoric development. Did you know that they develop from the inside out and from the head to the feet, so first they will lift their head, then push on their arms and so on, and the inside out means they first develop the bigger movement and lastly the finer movement, like grabbing a pencil around 2 years old. Hope this info also helps anyone who reads it :-)

The couple of things nobody told me about was the Mongolian blue spot...i thought my first child had been bruised during birth and also I was shocked when my daughter had a vaginal bleed the day she was born and when I called the nurse not knowing why there was blood in her nappy she explained it can happen due to hormones and she said some babies can also leak.milk from their nipples which I'd never heard of either.

Stork bite. My son and I both have them on the back of our head nape area, they never went away. So sometimes they don’t.

When my eldest daughter was around 3 yrs. old I sometimes would look at her and think that her eyes were crossed. But then it didn't seem consistent so I thought it was my imagination. I would ask the pediatrician, but the "crossing" didn't show up in the office. It bothered me because this feeling that her eyes sometimes crossed still lingered. So, a few years went by and one day I decided to take her to pediatric ophthalmologist. I'll never forget how he simultaneously with his finger's lift her eyelids and boom, her eyes crossed. I couldn't believe it and why didn't the pediatrician detect that. She ended up having to wear an eyepatch for months to see if we could strengthen the eye muscles. She ended up having surgery to correct her eyes and it was successful. What I'm trying to say in a roundabout why is, ALWAYS trust your gut in regard to your child. BTW, I still have my little angel kiss on the back of my neck and I'm a million years old. LOL

I still have the stork bite at the nape of my neck and on my back - I’m turning 32 this year :D I kinda cake to love them and have no problem showing the one on my back. I’m glad though that the angel kiss on my forehead went away, though.

When I buy baby clothes for people - I buy the 3 to 9months old range because everyone always gives the the first phase and forget about the next one. My sister commented that it was very useful because when the kids grew out of the newborn level, she was sadly missing out on the next one. My mother made so many bibs because my nieces would always puke up a little and so it saved the clothes and the kids were constantly wearing bibs to get any of the regurgitation. The reflex action is pretty cool - it's similar to the baby gripping a finger. I remember learning about it when I was at school actually so that if the baby falls then it could catch branches or the mother can easily catch them. Interestingly, a development that is not talked about much is when the baby learns to pick things up with the thumb and index finger - that, on the development scale is just as important as sitting up, standings, walking etc. So watch out for that in the future.

@@nannajaysadventures I was the aunt, not the mother, so it's my role to buy the gifts. I also bought a great pair of shoes in Italy that lasted 2 kids. They were light and easy to walk in and very usable. Not the clumpy kind that must make it hard for kids learning to stand and walk in to use.

look into the MTHR gene mutation as the stork bite and angel kisses can be signs.....it means that its harder to process "toxins' and food sensitivities ....both my boys had a selection, my older had the blue vein sugar bug and mongolian butt and he would go extreme when people would give him sugar of colours, the younger one had a severe sacral dimple and tongue tie and bite at base of neck....he is celiac and allergic to dairy like me....40% of the world have this...the more you know the better ......my boys are 12 and 10 and im so glad i knew all this before they were born as they are super healthy and have both only has anti biotics once around age 1......where i grew up on them with constant tonsilitis, ear infections, asthma and hay fever eczema and rashes and vomiting after kids parties, i got diagnosed at 23 in christchurch 24 years ago.....anyway look into it but dont just read page 1 of google as it says there is no relation but thats only because they have not done studies on it.
