6:31 Pepe/chillies are mostly served on the side so people can add to their taste and not cooked in the food. Like you say, Kenya is not short of spices or food varieties, but people generally prefer less spicy food or none at all and few combinations of food for a meal. Over- spiced food is actually a put off for most Kenyans. Too much oil or floating oil on food is a put off too. Tea and coffee are a must have!! Especially tea.

There are those of us Kenyans who love spices, but the floating oil iss a no oh!! Then the cow hide thing - yikes! Nigerians must have very strong teeth! Tea and coffee are grown in Kenya for export. It's only natural that Kenyans drink them. I love love love coffee especially. Tea has some medicinal values so, Gina, do as the Romans and get a taste for it. If making it is such a hassle, there are packaged ones called instant tea you could use 😂😂

I'm from Tanzania, Kenya's neighbors. We have very similar cuisines. We do not use too much oil and pepper in our foods. Situations differ from one county to another but generally the amount of Pepper inWest African cusine is generally not a common occurrence in our cuisine. Coastal tribes all over Tanzania, Kenya, and neighbouring islands use spices like cardamom, blackpepper, cumin, cinnamon, masala, garlic, ginger, cloves and coconut cream e.t.c but pepper is used in moderation. This style of cuisine is now generally wide spread throughout EA especially Tanzania and Kenya Pepper is usually made into "chachandu", it's a blended cooked or fermented mixture of pepper and garlic, lemon e.t.c so a person get to add on the plate as much pepper as they would like whilst not affecting others.I hope you got to try masala tea. I visited Nigeria last year and I almost fainted because of pepper and oil in food. I ended up eating swallow and all sorts of boiled yams (your yams are super good). I also found a supermarket where I was able to buy basmati rice. I'm sure you've noticed that our 'soups' are generally cooked individually incontrast to how Nigerians can make one dish and use fish, chicken beef, and all sorts of proteins in one pot It's crazy how cultures can differ so much withing the same continent

We had an exchange student from Nigeria while in University and I must admit for the 3 months she was in Nairobi, our food did not amuse her! About tea, I never realised we drink so much tea until I lived in Uganda and Tanzania for some years. Even our East African neighbours get shocked at how much tea we drink as Kenyans. If milk ran out in the office, the Kenyan expatriates would be suffering as were not fans of black tea. Tea needs to have milk!

@@ifeifesi There is a great prophecy in the bible which was prophecied by Prophet Isaiah when he said that the land of Cush and at the boarder of Egypt. He further continue to describe the people who are there. The Prophecy says there will be an altar of God and those people will worship God and there will be a great revival. The ancient Cush was along sudan and Ethiopia alongside the river nile which continues and touches the Land of Kenya(lake victoria) , where also we have cushites people.(Masaai) (Zep 3:10 From beyond the rivers of Cush my worshipers, my scattered people, will bring me offerings.) From beyond the rivers of Cush which we see as river nile and beyond his worshipers shall worship God and take offerings to God. We see kenya being beyond the river of Cush and serving the Lord in end times.
