High mileage? 121K isn't that bad for a 13 year old car or older. The 4.6 will last well over 200K miles if properly taken care of, even if raced and beat on constantly. They're tough engines.

here's what you look out for when buying a mustang. take it on the interstate. make sure power steering works. pay attention to noises. probably has a passenger manifold leak. check interior. someone probably broke the clips off something. meaning they worked on the wiring and didn't know what they are doing. listen for idle misses and check oil pressure gauge. the miss is something stupid (coil pack spark plugs etc...) probably get it cheaper. bring code reader too. check for missing codes or simple error codes. check power windows mirrors and seats. there could be a fault in the wiring that can cause other problems down the road.

Really the basics for 99-01ish Gt is..... -Intake manifold with aluminum crossover. -Fuel filler neck rust/needs replaced. -Oil Filter adapter gasket leak (common with owners who dont use distilled water or change coolant enough) -For automatic transmissions, the transmission mount cracked. -Driver side seat belt being lose-not retracting (coupe has this common problem) -Lose throttle cable(can tell if gas peddle has space that can easily be pushed up from underneath because of work cable)

I guess I don't get why you made this video. I own several a 69 fastback, 03 Cobra, a 02 convert. Mustang and 02 Mustang GT and the only problems are regular wear and tear maintenance and cosmetic issues that can be fixed. Also a 122,000 miles on a 15 year old car is pretty good considering average KBB annual miles are between 13,000 and 15,000. Also you kept bringing up the possibility of it having been raced, it's a part of why people love it and all mine handle amazingly. My advice to you is to remake this video with actual realistic expectations/inspection on a 15yr old car such as how the engine should sound without issues, subframe damage, if there are add-ons like power seats, a sunroof or convert. top, in dash stereo w 6cd changer, etc working properly and/or not leaking and smooth shifting gears (especially on a manual trans. [include possible issues with the clutch like sticking or loose etc]) not this crap about scratches and paint chips, dents, and wear on the seat. Also if you are having an alignment problem there's several possible issues like a bad mechanic, bent subframe (don't let someone lie to you a 02 does NOT have a full frame it has 2 subframes with connectors), motor mount issues on one side or the other, tire rod is a big one and an easy fix it can also cause the uneven tread you pointed out but so can the wrong psi in the tire.

Mustang Gurus then you should've renamed the video like he said. You never mentioned anything about the plastic intake manifold or making sure it has an aluminum crossover and intact heater hose, nothing about the changes in the belt/pulley assembly and heads halfway through 2001 which would be important if you want to know whether it has the original engine, nothing about the wiper cowl panel always being cracked, nothing about window tint falling off the matrix dots along the top of the back window, nothing about the creaks in the steering that Ford even posted a service bulletin about, nothing about what options to look for like the interior upgrade package with the bigger headrests, or the Mach 460 or Mach 1000 stereos, traction control, hood scoop on a V6, difference in the 99-00 and 01-04 exterior, the 35th anniversary packagefor the 99 or the 40th anniversary package in 04 and how *all* the cars from those years, Cobras excluded, had special anniversary fender emblems which could be important if someone claims the car is an 04 when it really isn't, nothing about the Bullitt, Mach 1, or Cobra, nothing about which colors are rare, nothing about export tails, Cobra mirrors, Mach 1/Bullitt sail panels, 35 anniversary side skirts, 99/01 Cobra bumpers, or any other super rare and expensive parts. Like what the hell dude, do you even own a new edge?

I hate convertibles so much especially on mustangs mostly for the reason because once the car gets age on it and to purchase a new top for it the cost is ridiculous. They don't last for longer than 5 years unless they are garaged and protected from the sun. A friend of mine purchased one and had a new top on it and it was left outside and the roof was worn out in 3 years.

Not much of a fan for convertibles either. Don't get me wrong, they do look nice. It's more of a cruiser to me and not a muscle car. Hang out with family, friends or even by yourself with the top down. Feeling the sun and breeze. Wish I had one just for that alone. Keep it stock and looking good. Hardtops are for the muscle car scene.

These cars came stock with a limited slip diff all the way back to 94 (maybe earlier) and I think even the v6 came with it back to 01. 3.55s are very common ring gears, big boohoo with rock chips and faded paint, it's an old car. A little TLC and you can fix all of that. Alignment is a thing but anything with modded suspension you should check alignment. Previous mods, yes, but that's any car, oil leaks? Well it can be over 20 years old now, depends on how well it was taken care of and stuff. What you really look for is: is it bolt ons? Stock? Cams? Forged with boost/nitrous? Are they running boost or nitrous on stock bottom end? Do they change their oil? Shit like that. These cars came with absolutely cruddy bottom ends, and a rod and piston GT or nom-terminator cobra is worth a LOT more than a stock bottom end version. A terminator is it's own class. Loom at your rear control arms and torque box, are the stock? Off car adjustable? On car adjustable? Is the torque box beat up? Is it reinforced? Has it been stick welded three times? (I got burned with one that had non-adjustable aftermarket control arms and a stick welded torque box amongst other things, that was the only one I didn't know about at purchase but would've been a deal breaker had I known.

When you check the oil you must of had the engine running for 5 to 10 seconds then shut it off. Next when you pull the dipstick out wipe the oil dipstick off and make sure you don't put the stick back in with any paper towel or anything that can get stuck on to the stick before you reinsert it. Once you know the stick is clean reinsert it back into the engine and pull it back out again. Once it's out try to keep it level when you do. The reason why you want to do each step is 1 running the engine helps to circulate the oil in the engine just enough to help get an accurate reading. Making sure the dipstick is clean before reinserting it is because when it goes back into the engine down in the oil pan if there is paper or something like that it can get stuck in the engine oil passages in the engine and starve the engine of oil and cause damage. Last but not least keeping the dipstick level after you pull it out helps you to keep an accurate reading.

They come stock with a 3.55 bro that’s not a race gear. You’d need something like 4.10s cause they raise hell oh and timing chains are common on a two valve so expect it around every 80 - 100k miles
@DarinDzy5 жыл бұрын
Mach 1 comes stock with 3.55. Gt comes stock with 3.27

Definitely listen for any rattling coming from the timing chains. That means the tensioners are worn. This is an interference engine and the pistons will hit the valves if the timing chain(s) jump a tooth. It won't wait, get it fixed now!

you should talk about the trans cross member clunking noises. bushings worn out. things that are issue true the sn95

Bro dont forget to make sure the oil is brand new and the coolant is still OEM and clean. Also pleas make sure there is no wear on the brake pads and the rotors. Stains on the carpets for a 1999 to 2004 is also not acceptable at all. No offence but who ever is buying any car of that age could expect wear and tear as well as stone chips as well as some form of cosmetics. If not i sure as hell would then be way more concerned it is a used car and i bet you the living day lights has been driven hard at some point of its life it is a freeken mustang bro a sports car.

How or why would a 99-04 Mustang be any different from a 94-98 when it comes to alignment issues? They are essentially the same cars and technically could utilize some fox bodied suspension parts as well.

I would say bad oil pan gasket, LOUD and whiny power steering pump, misfires, nasty front bumper (from scraping every now and then), exhaust manifold leak,

Why are racing mods a bad thing 😞

Is $4700 for a 2000 GT with 83k on it seem like it's a bit too good to be true? The car was stored for awhile but it runs and drives.
@AzalofForossa4 жыл бұрын
who cares if it's been raced before. It's a breath of fresh air to push a car hard. I'd prefer a raced vehicle that's been maintained properly by someone who knows what they're doing than some old granny who never changed a single fluid or maintained anything at all. I recently just did a tune up for some old granny who bought a car brand new in 2009,v170k miles on it, it had factory pure black plugs, air filter was black from so much bullshit, coolant was red with brown streaks. (Supposed to have gold coolant) Fuck that shit. The car screamed coolant in oil and soon to be blown head gasket. Oh and the knock, sounded like god asking to be let in.

Now if I could just find a low mileage & clean GT! Everything I find is like 125K+ and they want $6K for it.
@DarinDzy7 жыл бұрын
Yeah that's way too much! Top price for that mileage is about 5k

@joshn9387 жыл бұрын
Get the V8. The V6s in the SN95 and New Edge are really weak and get abut the same mileage in the real world as the V8s. You'll have a lot more fun with the V8.
